Hot damn. I'd like to give some credit to West. These past few episode's, he's really picked it up and become a pretty cool guy.
Hats off to West. You've offically moved up in my books.

I wouldn't mind a Claire or an Elle growing on me, or even a Maya. (Just don't cry... PLEASE don't cry...)
Er, anyway...
Yeah, I'm kinda hoping they keep West around for a bit. He's getting coolio.

I DO NOT like West! He's still creepy, in that stalker-kind of way. I mean, you meet a girl for a couple weeks and you're sure she's the one you want to spend the rest of your life with? Even after discovering her father is the one that kidnapped and experimented on you as a CHILD? And the evil streak he has (freaking out the head cheerleader, having Claire jump to prove herself) is reminiscent of Elle's sense of "fun."
And he's just going to walk out on his own parents? Buh-bye?
And frankly, he's flown more than Nathan, so what will we need Nathan for if West is going to take over. He's a threat to Nathan's screentime.
GO WEST, YOUNG MAN! --LITERALLY!

West definitely redeemed himself! I've never really loathed him, but he was a bit sketchy for a while there. And that whole mini car convo between him and Noah was cute

Normally I would say the same thing, but at the end of the day, she was the only one he knew of at that point that was like him; their abilities sort of connected them. And as traumatized as West was, he probably realized that him and Noah aren't much different -- they both care about Claire.

West was definitely better in this episode - but I was still happy when HRG pinned him to the ground.

No, I was really hoping he was hero who was supposed to be killed when he fell after Elle zapped him. (How was he not, by the way?) I was all excited. Then he stood up.
So, uh, should somebody remind Claire that she was snuggling with the guy that got her father killed? Yeesh. I guess she helped too, but still.

Why is Claire snuggling up with West while her mother is breaking down in the kitchen?! I think Claire really did hate HRG -- even though he's the only reason she's alive and didn't turn out like Elle. She's really turning ungrateful, and more than a normal cheerleader would...I think Bob might have transfused some of Moho's blood into her 'cuz she's caught some of Mo's stoopid gene...

Nov 19 2007, 08:15 PM

West definately redeemed his character this episode. He's making Mohinder looked more pathetic lol.
Edit: I think Claire is being a typical teenage...rebellion is just part of that. I don't think she hates HRG, she was just cofused and her lil regenative hormones are raging. Being stupid is being a teenage...Mohinder on the other hand, needs his butt kicked.

Nov 19 2007, 08:33 PM
He's redeemed himself slightly in my eyes because of the funniness, but he would have to do something amazing no, more than amazing to redeem the creepy stalker boy image he's given himself. Stalking just isn't ok in my books.
^I agree about the Mohinder thing, but what's scary is that I (admittedly) might have fallen to that trap, anyone could have if you think about it. I mean he was just trying to stop the virus and he ended up making a bad choice. But he still needs a whippen' for it.

Yes, I agree. I think the writers wanted to make West a memorable character, but ended up coming on too strong in the early episodes, exaggerating his characteristics (free-thinking, a touch rebellious, assertive, etc.) to the point at which he came across as an annoying, creepy stalker and putting the audience off of him. He's really been coming around recently, though.
And, for whatever reason, I liked that "Mr. Butler! What are you
DOING?!" line. It seemed a little odd that he was so shocked that a guy he had been villifying so terribly for the last several years would be thinking of doing something bad, but I guess he really accepted HRG as a good guy afterall once they were united in their concern for Claire. He really projected quite a genuine innocence and naivete there, and actually acted as a conscience for HRG.

It was great when West swooped down and grabbed Noah when he stepped out of the house. I'm so glad that he didn't just give up on Claire after finding out about her dad. He really showed he cared by trying to get to the actual truth before completely bailing on her.
I always loved West. I'm so happy he's back. He was so important in this episode. I thought him comforting Claire at the end was sweet.

See... THIS was how to write West!
If you wanted a character to be Claire's love interest that we could actually LIKE this episode proved it...
Unfortunately due to the bad writing he got as the start of the season I still think he's a bit of a creep... but this episode gave a glimmer of what the writer's probably wanted him to be originally, a decent, funny sort of guy who doesn't act like a total stalker.
Even though, I still think he is...
If they wanted to write a NEW character for Volume 3 who had all of West's qualities in this episode, I think most of us would approve wholeheartedly as being a good boyfriend for Claire.
Although part of me does kinda want to give him a chance next season if they let him stick around?
Ah to hell with it... I'm sitting on the fence with this one!

I would put money on his father being Nathan.
I have a theory on some of the hero family relationships.
It seems that when two "heroes" have children that they end up with different powers than their parents. When only one of the parents has a power, that power seems to be passed directly down.
Since Nathan has already been shown to cheat on his wife it is also plausible that he is West's dad as well. This would also add the always fun story line of finding out Claire's boyfriend is really her half-brother.
