I was just thinkin' where did the last name Monroe come from? Why a change in last name? I find it very interesting and odd. Any ideas?

I presume that Adam Monroe is his real name, and he's gone by it for all these centuries (with the exception of his stint as Takezo Kensei in Japan)... It's a decent name, so why get rid of it?

Sorry, I thought that he changed his last name. I guess in the earlier episodes they never revealed his last name. I just thought he was using some alias.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it was his original name. Takezo Kensei was just an alias he used to gain authority in Japan.

I can think of a lot of reasons to change one's name over the course of 400 years. Like, so no one will get suspicious that you never age?

I would say he would have had to change it for his driver's license, etc., but as we all know, he can forge identity papers.

What is kinda weird is how he waited until 1977 to try to blow the lid off the Company. In all his 400 years he's never wanted to let the world know about the powers? And why didn't he just go to England to make his announcement, why limit himself to New York? Sheesh.

Uh, did you watch the episode? What he told Pete a few eps ago was a lie...he wasn't trying to blow the lid on the company, he was trying to release the virus, and that's why they locked him up. Adam's idea of saving the world is to exterminate humanity, because after living for 400 years, he's seen how nasty and brutish a species we really are. So he's been deceiving people, except for Linderman and his cronies, about what the company is doing, in order to find the perfect weapon to eliminate all the humans. In 1977, with strain 138, that weapon became real, and he tried to unleash it.

And of course, why would he want people to know about his powers? It removes his offensive advantage, and would put a lot of people after him. And clearly, using his power to help humanity survive things isn't compatible with his goal of human extinction, so forget him wanting to "help" people.

I think in a past "life" Adam Might have gone by Malthus, or possibly Machiavelli

Wait no... Wikipedia tells me that Machiavelli was dead and gone before Adam was born and Malthus was born in the same period as Adam. Either way, there's a lot of philosophical overlap, so maybe he's just had a lot of time to read!

So did he die in that future with 93% of the population dead? I don't remember. I just assumed he would survive it so he wouldn't mind being part of the 7% remaining.

I thought the virus thing was a bit confusing to me. So Mohinder blood could cure the original virus before it mutated .. but Claire and Adam's blood would could cure the new virus AND heal a person? Niki has this new virus, strain 138? Or something else?

Niki has the mutated version that cannot be healed with Mohinder's blood. Strain 138 is the highly deadly, highly contagious strain that is kept in Odessa.
