Green Powder?

How has this NOT been brought up yet??

Peter somehow absorbed the green powder from destroying strain 138...this WILL somehow affect him!

He didn't absorb it, he carbon-shadowed it via tightly contained nuclear reaction.

Did yall catch the helix-symbol in the dust?
RubberDucky
absorbed - it looked like it just blew away or that he let it fall off his hand

Looked to me like it blew up his sleeve...

Wind? 3 Floors down below Primatech?
Leek
it sort of fades away. Its cause the dust was an effect, not real dust. So they couldnt have him drop it.

Exactly!

Go watch again...it blew UP his sleeve and from the look on his face...he KNOWS it...
Agent42
It looked like it just fell out of his had, wind or no wind. (I'm guessing because of the CGI it just looked like it was absorbed.)
VentiDeMilo
What kind of power did Peter use to destroy the virus? I can't believe he just absorbed the virus that's supposed to kill 93% of the population? lol
nickpowers101
I get this feeling that Peter's infected..

Virus Dust
What happened there?

Did it blow away? Or did it absorb into Peter's skin?

Moreover, can that effect him adversly?
ColorMeToxic
Yes, but Peter has the same ability that Claire does.
ColorMeToxic
It looked almost like it both absorbed into his skin, and blew away, but I'm not sure.

But I don't think it'll have an effect.
Faunus
I think he more or less just turned the virus into poof. A virus is a living thing. If he burned the ****** out of it with his radiation ability, then I don't think there is much left living in that virus.
Creator
Virus + fusion = dust.

PirateQueen
He tilted his hand and it slid off.
Faunus
Yeah, peter can't be effected by the virus because as deadly as this strand is, it is a known strand and it is also known that Peter can't be harmed by it. Like I just said, I think that's the end of the virus. A virus is a living organism just like any other living organism, if you apply enough radiation to it and thus burning it to a crisp, the living thing in it will die...making it harmless.
BlackQueen
A virus is NOT a living thing. Anyways it did look like it blew up his sleeves.

I beg to differ...see my new thread...

YAY! i love when smart people post on these forums they help me sleep better at night <3 Faunas tongue.gif

For anyone who cares, there is no scientific consensus as to whether viruses should be considered "living" or not. They have genetic material and can mutate, but they are so simply designed that many do not consider them to be organisms.

As for whether or not the Shanti virus could survive after being exposed to all that radiation, in theory its genetic material would be denatured and the virus would "die." Remember though that this is Heroes, so biology doesn't necessarily apply.

I don't think the virus will make a reappearance, if only because rehashing the same exact threat would make for a lame plot.

Then you better brace yourself for another season of Sylar.

The title was Villains... not Villain, Sylar will be just one of many Villains, which is what Heroes needs.
Troy
Well, these are just my thoughts (and I am NOT one of the smart people), but I would say that the dust could be potentially deadly to all of the people (Peter, Matt & Nathan) in the vault when it was destroyed if any of them happened to breath it or touch it. I would also say that Peter has extra risk, since it was destroyed in his hand and could've been absorbed through his bloodstream during the reaction in his hands.

Now as far as whether or not this virus is dead or alive, to me, it seems like if it was a living thing, it would've needed to be stored somewhere other than a test tube in a vault for all those years. To me it just doesn't seem like it would still be viable after all these years if it was a living entity.

As for the special effects of the helix symbol, that was a neat effect, but totally unnecessary in my opinion . . . what was it, some kind of fantastical magic dust?
Alordo
I understand the reasoning behind the helix symbol, and it was a cool effect, but I kind of wondered why it was there as well. I'm fairly certain they're not going to pull the same 'end of the world' tactic again. And I had to laugh at Activated's response. LOL That was good.
EdensDemise
I got the impression that his body absorbed it. The same way it did the ink from the tattoo.

Why do that? Well, my theory is that now his blood is tainted. While he can handle it because his brain has the ability to heal, just like Adam & Claire.

However, if anyone else were to receive his blood they would not be able to tolerate it and would become infected. Which is how they will explain why Peter doesn't just use his blood to heal Nathan. wink.gif

i read a threat earlier about why didnt peter phase through the door..people replied to add suspense..why didnt he melt the door with his uber radiation skillzor..that woulda looked way kooler insted of as usual the crappy tk,

how come after 11 episodes of season 2 hes never used his radiation ability and then he suddenly decides to use it when destroying the virus..how does he know it will work lol

Peter was not immune from that mutated strain of the Shanti virus. Not sure why people would say that. Peter was dead in the future and, while they didn't come right out and say it, it was implied that it was because of that mutated virus. The virus deactivates powers. Therefore, no healing. Adam "thought" he would survive but he didn't know that. The only known cure for that mutated strain of the virus was Claire's blood COMBINED with the antibodies from Mohinder's blood (the cure for the original Shanti virus).

Peter nuked the heck out of that virus. It's done. It's gone. It's not coming back..in any form. He didn't absorb it. The dust didn't blow up his stuff. Nobody inhaled the dust. It's done. After the beating the show took for Volume 2, does anyone seriously think they are going to continue or drag out the virus storyline? Come on. Tim Kring has repeatedly said that the main storylines would be resolved within Volume 2 and that it would be a stand-alone Volume so that they could start fresh after the break with Volume 3 and new storylines.

By the way, why didn't Peter use his radiation power sooner? He almost blew up New York City. I don't think the guy was going to experiment with his radiation power just for the fun of it. But for arguments sake, just because you didn't seem him use his radiation power in a particular scene, doesn't mean that he didn't test out the power after he got his memory back with Adam's help. It's not like we saw every second of the guy's life on screen.

Well,Peter might be Naive, but he pretty much should know that of all his abilities, the only truly destructive thing is Nuke ability,
So he used it and with perfection, might i add! cool.gif
Hmm,Im not big in bio,but a virus is on the threshold of living and non living ,isnt that right?
Tmatte
The virus was pretty much erased from existence, I think it was the glass from the vile that turned into dust.

Definitely absorbed into his skin, just like the tattoo.

Peter's ability is absorption. It's what he does.

Sponge-Man to the rescue!

But seriously, I agree with the "Done & Gone" perspective. It's the end of the virus, the end of the threat, the end of the volume.
KeefAlmighty
Agreed. Time for Volume 3!

Can someone get Texgrog on the line to explain the fundamentals of viruses and the consequences of nuking same? He is like the forum's unofficial expert. smile.gif
Ashen
We do not need to get very scientific here. Just think: What would happen to you if you were exposed to an extremely high dosage of radiation?

The same thing would happen to any virus. It is not like viri have superpowers or something...
