Their heroic acts were identical (each saved someone by entering a life-threatening situation); DL only survived because of his power. Additionally, each of them was partly responsible for the other's death. Niki stopped taking her pills and turned into Gina, bringing DL in contact with his killer. DL inspired Micah to be a vigilante, bringing Niki into the fire without her power. Maybe they'll finally be happy together in the afterlife.

Yeah, if Niki died, I'll miss her... She's one of the best characters!

But it's not sure she died, after all! I didn't had the chance to see everything with my one eyes, but I read a lot about it to know that what we see his only the place she's in getting burned! sure, that's a lot, for a normal person, but not for someone who is already hot!

joke aside: we don't see her die! It's a cliffhanger in the classical way to say it (more classical, she would be hanging over a cliff!). It's extremely rare that a good character (well, any character, actually) die in a cliffhanger! We just wonder how she would get out of there! Let's hope she did!

When I saw how massive the explosion was, the first thing that went through my mind was, "That's how the writer's get rid of a totally useless character. BOOM!" I'm not saying I didn't like Niki...it's just that she was always pretty much removed from the central storyline.

Did anyone catch the part where Niki said to Micah, "being a hero is what got your dad killed" right before they left to save Monica. That really irked me. The reason DL got killed was because Niki couldn't stay on her meds. Laying that on Micah was really unfair.

I dunno...I don't think she's dead, either.

A. They didn't show it, really. We assume she was still trapped in there, helpless.

B. I don't think they've told us everything about Niki, yet. What good is superstrength, without some sort of invulnerability, or at least 'toughness'...have we ever seen her get really hurt? Cuts? Strains? I don't think she even bruised when that guy clocked her one, in the first episode...

Any thoughts on that?

I have no doubt in my mind that Niki's still alive. She has potential. Her power has a lot to offer for storylines (like Out of Time).

I liked how she brought a feminine-motherly touch to the show.

But it sucks the way she died, she wasn't my fav. character, but she certainly wasn't my least.

I thought that scene was rather good. She didn't hesitate or worry, at all. She got out of that car handed that kid's ****** to him, and did what needed doing. She's grown a lot. I'm excited for her.

She just seemed kind of weak. We know she has enough strength to rip a dude (or several) in half, and in some ways fairly neatly (lack of strewn entrails). When that fiery beam fell she shouldn't have had any trouble lifting it. She should have been able to throw it across the room. I'm sure it was hot, but when one is trying to survive... I mean did anyone read that recent news article where a guy saved himself from a fire by cutting off his own arm?

I keep thinking maybe DL, who isn't really dead, rushed in there and rescued her. (I know. I'm full of cupcakes.)

Eleo, Niki's powers were gone. The Shanti virus removed them. She wasn't super-strong at the time.

I thought it was just so ironic that she was killed using all her strength to lift a measly beam, while if she had her powers she could toss that thing a mile in no time.

Yes, her storylines sucked, we all know that, but her character was a very real one. She was a single mother, doing what she had to do to survive. I loved her character. And if she did die, why wouldn't they just confirm her death during the episode instead of making us wait months to find out?

And, what about micah's character? He has nobody now, and he's stuck in Post-katrina New Orleans. Now his storyline is going to suffer. He was never that interesting anyways. Now both his parents are dead?

I don't buy it. Niki has to live.

I've rewatched the scene where she's trapped in the fire and I swear she saw her reflection in something. At least the cameras did something odd. I know the virus zaps their powers; however, when Sylar tries to use his we hear the clicking watch like it's still there but he can't quite reach it. So, what if in the extreme situation, just like parents can manage heroic feats due to the adrenaline surge, Niki's power comes back and Jessica manages to take over and get out? We don't know for sure that she's dead, just that the building went boom. If that did happen, it would mean Jessica's trapped in an infected body and one seriously PO'd anti-hero.
