There were some complaints about how irrelevant and disconnected Niki's storyline was in the first season. Now I know why... they cut out DL's storyline.
After the terrorist version of the plot was scrapped, DL had scenes in prison before he showed up at Niki's house. (these 5-6 scenes could have easily been spread out through those first few episodes), he kept accidentally waking up outside his cell (he's probably a sleepwalker, which, honestly, would just be cool... an untouchable, unhurtable sleepwalker... which keys into the whole dreamtime-Uluru connection, man!), and the connection? District Attorney NATHAN PETRELLI is the one who had him wrongfully put in jail and D.L.'s only goal in life is to kill Nathan.
Of course, this would have all been resolved by the end of the show, but how badass could D.L. have been if he had kept that anger from the first episode instead of turning into a soft househusband? What happens if D.L. meets Peter? Or Hiro, whom has a bit more admiration for the Flying Man.
Does anyone else think this storyline could have made the show much better? Or at least made DL more relevant and connected?

Yes, actually. That would also give him a chance to sympathize more with Jesicas hunger for revenge. Yeah, much more interesting, his part was way too small.

His character and Candices were two characters with lots of potential and the coolest powers in the whole show.
Both my favorites and both got wasted for nothing. -.-

I feel similarily about Alejandro. And he and Candice are particularly missed because not even their powers survived!

Very true!

What bugged me the most about Alejandros death was the way that sylar all of sudden was able to hold him down with one hand as if Alejandro was a total weakling so Sylar can grab a knife and cut his neck while Alejandro was doing "Nothing?".

I thought they completely wasted Alejandro. This was the first time we had seen interdependent powers, and twins. Plus, he or his power could have had a big role to play in the virus story.
And he was the only one (ever, I think) to instantly recognise Sylar for what he truly was and not get beguiled by him. Now Maya can control her power, so Alejandro's is completely wasted anyway. Very very poor.
So, to bring this thread back on topic

, DL wasn't the only one to get a rough deal and a rubbish exit. At least his power still survives in Peter.

Wow. That would have made D.L. seem more like his own person and less like a prop for Niki.

also in one of those scenes you could see the symbol on his [dl's] arm, which opens up more storylines [btw, it was a scar, not a tattoo].

I hated how D.L. was wasted, personally. He was one of my favorite characters and I hated how he was stuck with Niki because it got him nowhere.
I wish there was a way he could come back. And not as an illusion :P

i totally agree; that would've brought more growth to DL and his family's storyline.
and i also agree on alejandro's role in the virus destruction too.
why do they just scrap out plots, seemingly unknowing that it would have added more twists and turns to the show., like the DL storyline.
i liked the virus finale plot in s2, it was interesting. maya and alejandro's storyline would've grown coz of that. but i got ****** when i learned that it wasn't to be continued due to the writer's strike. thus they made an alternate finale, and a lame one at that.
s2 would've been great if it weren't for the writer's strike.
i would've liked monica's storyline to grow; on how she became the neighborhood hero st. joan. and on how she was to fight her supposed nemesis, knox. that would've been great if nikki were also to fight knox. battle of
superstrength yeah!
anyway, going back to the dl storyline. yeah, it had the potential.
