Heroes: Seasons One and Two Soaring to Blu-ray
Posted April 17, 2008 12:52 PM by Josh

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced they will release 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' for Blu-ray on August 26th. The first season was released on DVD and HD DVD last August, and the second season will be released on Blu-ray day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs or extras have been announced at this time.

The 'Heroes: Season Two' release will be the first global release on Blu-ray for Universal, indicating that it will be available in all territories on August 26th. This also places the previous seasons in the hands of fans a few days before the proposed start of the third season of the popular television series.

No word on whether 'Heroes: Season One' will be a port of the previous HD DVD release, or if it will be optimized for Blu-ray. We'll post more details on all the upcoming Universal titles when they come available.

As stated previously*, Season 1 of HEROES will be on blu-ray starting around when Season 2 is released (excerpt):

We finally have a release date for S2 on DVD! Now we can have a decent marathon.

This may be stupid, but does that mean the "regular" version of Season 2 will be available on Aug. 26th as well? Once again, please forgive the stupidity of this question. biggrin.gif

You're welcome smile.gif

I think what I'm most eager to see are the extras and the boxart.

Awesome! I can finally sell my HD-DVD player now. I was only keeping it so I could watch Heroes in 1080p goodness. I guess the only downside is now I have to buy a PS3. Hmm..

I can't wait to find out if I can import them to Australia, but I haven't really looked into how the region locking works on Blu-Ray yet.

That's some great news! happy.gif I hope they can include a lot of extras, even in the regular DVD (not sure when we will get Blu-Ray in our household)

Boxart for Blu-Ray?

Doesn't that say DVD in the bottom left?
Citizen
I figured it was the Blu-ray because it was different from the ones already released. Didn't notice DVD at the bottom.

That was one of my worries with Blu-ray is the region locking. This means that I will not be able to get the High Def version in advance, have to wait for the Australian release which is usually months behind. sad.gif

Cool. I how Target gets a collectors edition like they had for season one. Also i hope there isn't ten version's of this available like season one. It was hard enough to pick the collectors edition. Now any word on when Vol. 2 of the graphic novels will be released?

Universal has announced full specs for the first two seasons of 'Heroes,' which will hit Blu-ray this Summer with a bevy of bonus material and high-def exclusives.
As previously reported, Universal announced a August 26 Blu-ray street date for both 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' (the latter day-and-date with the standard DVD version).

Now the full specs are in, with the first season spread across five BD-50 dual-layer discs, and the second, shorter season (cut short by the writer's strike) only a four-platter set. Both releases will enjoy 1080p video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround tracks, plus English, French and Spanish subtitles.
Supplements on 'Season One' will match the previous HD DVD release, with a bevy of extras including the 73-minute Premiere Episode (with optional audio commentary by show creator Tim Kring), four featurettes ("Making Of," "Special Effects," "The Stunts," "Profile of Artist Tim Sale"), an artwork presentation, and deleted scenes.
'Season Two' will include five featurettes ( "Heroes Season 2: A New Beginning," "Takezo Kensei: Sword Saint," "Genetics of a Scene," "The Drucker Files," "Generations After"), a series of additional NBC.com featurettes, deleted scenes, and a still gallery.
Both season sets will also come enabled with Bonus View (Profile 1.1) picture-in-picture commentaries with cast and crew (on select episodes), plus BD-Live extras including cast bios, MyScenes bookmark sharing, and more to be announced.

Retail price for 'Season One' has been set at $69.98 with 'Season Two' set at $49.98.
As always, you'll find the latest specs for 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they're indexed under August 26.

Not a bad cover. It seems a bit more expensive than I was hoping, having less than half the episodes of season 1, but I'll probably still get it anyways.

Just postin' the google ad I saw for the Season 2 HEROES dvd set at another HEROES fansite...

(Well, that's what currently gets called up - it's sorta a relative deal...)

Wow... lol
Niki was in the trailer quite a bit for having nothing really to do with the entire season up until the last episode! (Not htat I'm complaining wink.gif)

But to get back on topic. I too cannot wait for the second season. Though I'll be buying the plain old regular version. (Never understood the hype over paying twice as much for the same thing.)

Can anyone with the blu-ray set access the bd-live content? Can't for the life of me find out what you are supposed to do! (Watching on ps3, if that makes any difference).

Cheers!

I don't think that Universal has launched there BD Live yet. I could be wrong though but I believe it is being launched on September 30th not sure though. Also on disc one of the blu-ray set in the Chapters section does your episode one title say "Four Months Later" instead of "Four Months Later..." which is the title they give in the box set?

It's "later..." on the box insert.

How about when the disc is running in the player in the chapters section of disc one? There does it say "later" or "later..."? Mine says "later" which i don't understand because they got episode 8 right with "ago.." so why didn't they put this one with the three dots especially when "Four Months Later..." is the official title. The only reason i am asking is becuase i just want to make sure it is not a problem with my disc. Thanks
