I think it makes sense. He knows how his own ability works, and he knows how Peter's works. It's just natural that he can keep others from accessing it.

I think he couldnt acquire it because he'd have to work with it first hand. he wouldnt know how to use it. He didnt know how to use telepathy, but found out about it through the feedback session with Parkman. He figured out Intuitive Aptitude by stimulating that power through fixing of the watch. It also kinda helped when Gabe was walking him through how the power works.

He can't block peter from getting his ability. Peter only need to understand how it works to be able to use it.

Yeah, if Angela had never given Sylar away, we wouldn't have Sylar, we would have had Gabriel, because it was his job as a watchmaker which led to him uncovering and actively using his ability.

i wonder if peter knew what sylar's power really was in the first place? (he only had a brief explanation of sylar's analytical skills IIRC) i think peter's had sylar's power for ages now, via their encounter at claires school if nothing else, but he didn't full understand it and its applications and therefore couldnt use it...


so he tried to read sylar's mind to find out how it worked but sylar could somehow block that..not sure how!

Actually, he's used powers before without even knowing he had them. Just this previous episode he used super speed without even knowing anyone around him had it and he's done this as far back as the first few episodes of season 1 with flight.

Then explain Amnesiac Peter in S2. He used power after power that he didn't even know existed.

I think its probably the fight/flight reponse and the adrenaline that pushed him to pull those powers out to survive ?
Seems obvious enough not entirely sure though.
Besides IA and other abilities don't seem to be working the same way most abilities pull on emotion IA on logic.
That would mean its almost impossible to use IA as a reaction to fight/flight reponse.
