Why it is so important? Does it have significance to a superpower? or his survival?

Moreover, what is on it?

Discuss.

I think it was just to make a connection between the Arthur Petrelli in the dream and in the bed. Cause we never saw his face in the dream.

An excerpt from wiki"The Symbolism of Rings

Rings are circles. In all cultures the circle is a symbol of unity and eternity, encompassing all. In early cultures, rings were considered magical or sacred through their association with the sun, moon and gods, thus giving protection to the wearer by binding one with power and energy. Some of the magical mythology of ancient times still influences how and why we wear rings. Kings, priests and healers wore rings on the index finger because that finger was thought to be especially powerful. Medicines were applied to the body with the index finger to give speed and power to their effect. Even today, wearers of healing gemstones wear the rings on the index finger to take the best advantage of the curing energies.

The strongest magical tradition that still holds fast today is the one about the third or ring finger. The ring finger was thought to contain a nerve that went directly to the heart. Wearing a wedding or engagement ring on the ring finger still symbolizes the binding commitment and union of hearts.

Interesting though.

I also think it might be a symbol of how powerful he actually is.

Was it just me or did the ring like glow or shimmer when they cut to papa petrelli in bed? I would not be surprised if the ring plays an important part. Maybe part of the formula or something. If you wanted to keep something safe I think it would be safe to say it would be near the ring leader.
SuperT
The ring is just the Petrelli family ring.

I thought of the connection between him and Nathan. Nathan used to wear that big old (Purple?) one around, (Was a big clue during the who is Claire's father cliffhanger) and we know that Nathan was a lot closer to his father then Peter was.

Maybe there's a small portion of the formula in the stone or something, lol.

Like others, I got the impression that it was there to emphasize his "connection" to (some of) the others. My guess is that it's either his wedding ring, a family ring or something to do with (some of) his family.

It's true, it does definitely bring up a clear connection to Nathan, though Angela too has her big wedding ring she fidgets with sometimes (specifically season 1) I still think it's a Nathan Arthur connection thing, though it could just be a Petrelli thing smile.gif

There could be something to it tho, idk. Cause there were alot of seemingly harmless things in the vault like playing cards.

Well did anyone see the symbol on the ring? I know he had the godsend symbol as his law firm's logo. Pinehearst's logo is the godsend symbol, only doubled into the DNA helix. Maybe that was on the ring. Anyone have a screenshot?
