So Peter goes into Pinehearst invisible but then busts in on dad and company in plain sight.
Now if I had invisibility, I would be snooping around and checking out ol' dad and his hooligans before revealing myself.
I think it would have been really cool if Peter snuck in invisible, read some files in another room or something to give us more back-story about pinehearst, and after that, he follows Daphne or someone to where Arthur and the others are at.
Then Arthur says "I can see you Peter", or something like that, and then what we saw could have unfolded as it did. That would have been smart writing and not make Peter look so stupid all the time. It would also have made Peter think that his dad's skill was simply invisibility and that he had nothing to fear from a gentle hug.

Yeah. Peter is not smart. It'd be one thing if Peter was smart, but the villains were always one step ahead. But he's just plain not smart.

that actually would have been MUCH better. good thinking on that one.

He was also opening doors when he can walk though them. While invisible he would be undetectable if he was not opening doors and making all that racket. not to mention when he first felt his dad playing fowl why didn't he just freeze time or teleport away or run super fast or 20 other things he could have done. Damn the writer ****** me off how they don't use peter the way his potential says they should. They made him a dumb ******.

lol. Making time for Peter to "snoop around" would've just killed the pace of the episode. What the hell is he going to do with a bunch of files? It's not in Peter's character to be smart and sneaky like that anyway, he's driven by emotions.
And we all knew that the second Peter arrived at Pinehearst that he was going to run into Arthur in some way or another. I liked it this way... if not, we wouldn't have had the awesome ending of this episode.

If Pete woulda done some painting and napping earlier, he coulda known how it would all go down. hell, he had Sylar's Clairsentience. He coulda touched something and figured out how bad his father was.
my great scene rewrite:
Pete paints the future and sees his dad hugging him and taking his powers. he then enters invisible. He enters the main room after timestopping, and walks up to his dad.
"Dad?" Pete says
He then touches him on the shoulder and feels his dad's past, seeing him as evil, and then is about to kill him, but doesnt have the heart, deactivating his timestop. Dad swings around and boom. Petes powers get sucked outta him like a sponge saps the water out of a full cup.

Remember that Peter was very emotional at this point.
He was so focused on revenge for his mother, that he overpowered (no pun intended) Sylar, who was trying to get him to calm down and think rationally.
He showed himself because he didn't think he could get hurt (remember he can regenerate) and wanted those he was going to deal with to see him, to know who was exacting revenge and why.
Obviously he did not expect to see his dad there.
As far as why he didn't pull away, by the time he realized what was happening, it was probably too late.
Think of Hiro getting hit with the shovel.
Twice.
Why did he not just freeze time to avoid it?
He didn't think to do it. It has not become enough of a reflex yet.
When Peter went invisible and opened the door to go in, I immediately thought the same thing "why didn't he just phase through the door?"
The only answer I can come up with is so that we would not have any doubt that he entered the building.
It was done for dramatic effect.

Expecting Peter to do the right thing is probably not the best thing to do.
You love the guy, but he tends to not think things through. This is the same guy who jumped off a building because he thought he could fly. And then promptly smashed his face into the dirt at a playground, attempting the same thing.
He's all heart. Sadly, that means there's very little brain.

As we have seen many times not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer is he? If he was really clever he would of frozen time just like his future self has to sort them out but like Sylar says he was in no state to be going there as it was and he has paid the consequences.

When peter gets his powers back I sure hope he gets near someone that has genius for a power so he can stop being such a dumb ******.

That's what Gabriel's original power consists of, yet it didn't seem to help him at all.

Not to mention he should have also absorbed Charlie's super learning powers from Sylar.
There's no hope for Peter's smarts I'm afraid...

Did think the way he walked in and got some electric bolts ready was badass, if Arthur hadn't been around those other lot were gonna get fried!

I think the writers have played this Peter is naive story out now so I do think towards the end of this volume and up coming seasons they will show Peter in more control. Peter has been lied to by his mother and betrayed by his father as well now, in the future Claire has turned on him as well so most of the people who he loves have shown they are ready to lie or betray him and I think that will change his character. We have seen with future versions of Peter that once he does wise up to a certain extent and show great control over his powers so we will see that hopefully sooner rather than later.

He didn't really get a chance to understand and use that ability though. The ability doesn't make you smart though, unlike Peter Sylar isn't really an emotional guy doesn't make as many rash decisions. We have seen throughout the show that Peter is a guy who relies a lot on instinct and emotion compared to others and more often than not it gets him in trouble!
