I liked when the Heroes used their powers. Powers are cool.

Loved it. I loved how this episode wove into the first season. All I ask is to be entertained and I was entertained.

LOVED this episode, I always love getting back story and having things all tie in together.
I am sure there are some timeline issues here but hell I think its worth it to over look them to make the story come together like this.

I especially enjoyed seeing the Elle/Sylar dynamic. Never thought that Sylar was the companies fault.

The way this episode tied in to the first season was well done for the most part.

Can I just say it was amazing? Anyone else notice the new scores as well? God, the whole thing gave me chills! I was an emotional wreck while watching it.

there wasn't too much use of powers in this and i kinda liked that. went back to the human part of it.

This season has been getting better and better, with the exception of Eris Quod Sum (way too much happened without explanation).
This episode was fantastic and it was awesome to see Arthur and Angela's backstory and what exactly happened to Arthur.
I agree it went back to the human element, which was awesome. Character development ftw.

Wow. Just wow! Interweaving the first season like that? When I saw the train burning on the ground I literally gasped. Likewise for the taxicab. It was fantastic and I loved hearing about Arthur and seeing his relationship with Linderman. And the ending. OH my god I can't WAIT until next week!

I agree with the above posters. This is one of the best so far this season. And it had the best cliffhanger ending so far. Maybe, just maybe, they can pull this show back to the awesome of season 1. smile.gif

this episode was alright. i only winced from poor dialogue twice. but i loved that they focused on a few storylines, they didn't go overboard again.

...as a SArmy member I was totally happy smile.gif ...everything about this episode worked .. how it pulled together with season 1, and answered questions, how it focused on just a few..it was emotional and intense and funny (Meredith's line to her brother) and great! ..can't wait 'til next week ..btw: this season is as good as, if not better, season one imo ...and Jesse and Jeph are responsible for the 'Villains' arc ..they should be applauded .. they, and their team!

Absolutely! My favorite scenes were when they tied into to 1st season. I also love how they showed Peter and his father's feud over him being a nurse and how they brought him back to where he truly began.

This episode felt a little disconnected from the rest of the season. There were three big stories unfolding at the same time, so things didn't feel so frantic - each of those three tales was given an appropriate amount of time to get from an intriguing beginning to a fulfilling end. There were times when it felt like we weren't being entertained so much as informed, but on the whole the actors' performances kept my disbelief suspended. The writing was merely competent, but the change in pace helped me to enjoy this one more than I have any other episode thus far in the season (with the possible exception of "One of Us, One of Them").

I couldn't have said it better myself.

My show is back.

I hope to the high heavens the rest of the season is like this, because if it is, then Heroes is really back.

Daaaaaaaamn, that was some good writing. I LOVED how everything tied in to what happened in the first episode. How Meredith was so close to Claire at the fire, how HRG got into the cab, all great. It explains a LOT about how certain characters came to be, although I think they could have done with less Meredith unless they're planning on making her a full time character.

The episode did feel a bit slow, but overall I liked it a lot.

Was it slow, or slow compare to the rest of Season 3 which is blazing fast?

Angela. Angela and Arthur. Angela and Daniel. This episode made me realize that she was COMPLETELY different woman before we met her in Season 1. HA! When we were first introduced to her, I thought she was this all powerful, malevolent evil witch. Sure she had the clout and the connections I thought she did, but she was that man's puppet for who-knows-how-many years.

And watching Linderman care. ACTUALLY care, was amazing. I am a complete Petrelli-phile (see sig for reference) and this episode appeased me in ways illegal in some southern states ;-)

What a wonderful episode! Heroes just keeps on impressing, and I love it. Phenomenal effort this week. Really great.

I always love past/future episodes; they're always the most fun, and the most rewarding for hardcore viewers and fans. There are always little morsels of inside jokes, explanations, and hints at future storylines that casual viewers would miss. What a great episode for the Heroes crew to give me for my birthday! :-)

Arthur and Linderman's conversations at the party were great to see, since we've heard so much about their relationship already, on the series and in the comics. And with two fantastic actors, there was no way their scenes together could have flopped. They seemed so creepy, and so seasoned, which is a nice change from the hurried, frantic, childish way most of our teenage-to-30-something heroes bash through life now that they have had their powers for a handful of years. It really makes you think about the toll an ability can take on a person's life and personality. Arthur was just so cold and chilling when he matter-of-factly told Linderman, "Well, then, I'll kill him." And later, making Angela agree with the fact that "Nathan has to die" was just as creepy. I really love Robert Forster in this role.

Flint is Claire's uncle! That makes so much sense, and yet it never occurred to me as even the slightest possibility. I love when I'm blind-sided by these things. :-) So this means HRG knows! It was lovely to see Eric Roberts again, and his storyline with Meredith and Flint was exceedingly well done. I adore the fact that Meredith was the one to start the train fire that Claire rescued the man from! How perfect! These little continuity threads--several years after the fact--are what makes a series really shine for me. Someone obviously pays an obsessive amount of attention to the details of this show, and I respect that. ;-)

As fun as Meredith's backstory was, the one I was really interested in was Sylar's. I've been wondering what turned him from the glasses-and-cardigan-wearing Mamma's boy into the blood-thirsty killer he was when we first met him in season one. We were shown how meek he was in 1x10 Six Months Ago, and I've always wondered how he began to square murder with himself. And then after the "hunger" was revealed, I became insanely curious how that had manifested in the beginning. Now we've seen: Elle and HRG were the ones to finally force him into becoming a killer! I feel even worse for poor Elle now, brought up by Bob, trained and memory-wiped, sent out into the field to fall for a nice guy who had the potential to lead a good life, only to trick him into becoming a Villain. No wonder she's just completely messed up. Although this was a pretty different Elle from the one we saw zapping Peter seductively in front of her dad... I suppose she was just using a different kind of seduction on Gabriel. I also like the fact that Sylar felt guilty enough to kill himself after murdering Brian Davis. No wonder he's able to transition back to a nice guy in the future Peter visited most recently. He's always been a sweetheart, way down deep.

The car that was supposed to kill Nathan and instead paralyzed Heidi was sent by his father, as well as Linderman! Fantastic twist on something we already knew. And no wonder Angela was so freaked out when she found out Arthur was alive! She killed him! Or at least attempted to. This is another great level of explanation for an established storyline. And I can see why Arthur's a little ****** off at his dear wife. (Nice job bringing in the Haitian, though, Angela. Smart move.)

Usutu is dead? No! I really liked this guy! And is Arthur popping Hiro's head off the same way? Or just erasing the information he gleaned from his spirit journey? Obviously they don't kill Hiro (he's practically the titular character), but if Arthur already absorbed Hiro's ability from Peter, what can Arthur want from him that doesn't involve elimination?

I'm slightly confused by Sylar's timeline. It was only a year ago that he began killing? It looked like Brian Davis' death had been relatively recent, which means these flashbacks had to take place maybe five months before the beginning of the series. This means in 7 months Sylar has risen to power, battled the heroes in Kirby Plaza, taken his four month Mexican vacation, and returned to be captured and groomed as an agent? Seems... rushed.

So excited for the next episode!

Bits and Pieces:
  • New opening! I really like the "VILLAINS" and helix that slices through our usual eclipse logo. Wonder why the change now?
  • Elle is supposed to win Gabriel's trust with "pie"? ...Is that a euphemism? ;-)
  • Love that we see Peter get out of Mohinder's cab and HRG get into it.
  • Fun to see Peter with his long hair again. Nice wig. Seriously, that looked really good.
Til next time,
GG

Once again, Heroes has demonstrated that flashback episodes will always be epic and informative. The season one tie-ins were amazing. Things like Charlie and Sparrow Redhouse on the list or Thompson returning were amazing too. I've never thought or Meredith being such an important character until this episode, where we see what she was doing just weeks before meeting her biological daughter, including her causing a certain train wreck (kudos at the director, as the shot of Claire approaching the train as Meredith walked away was brilliant).

We also found out a bit about what happened between the Petrellis that made Arthur get bedridden. We also got to see scenes with Sylar after killing Brian Davis, and we learn that Elle was around for that part of his life.

This episode was very good, if you look at it in a certain way. No inconsistencies, as many people are saying, if you put some thought into it.

I gave this episode a 5/5, as it definitely deserves it.

One of my favorite episodes of all seasons to say the least! smile.gif

Angela was AWESOME and now everyone could see what I and a few others were mostly guessing through over two seasons now! This woman wouldn't let anyone harm her children without making that person pay the consequenses! Even her own husband! What he did to her through all the years is the most horrible thing you can do to someone that loves you with all its heart!

Meredith!! biggrin.gif I loved to see the missing pieces of hers and a little of her past with the company and her brother.

My most favorite line through the whole episode that made me laugh a lot was: "I lied, it wasn't your mothers recipe"! lol
Most of all after Arthur looked at the table and his dish suspicious and angela put that look on her face! Priceless! ^^

Also Merediths line to flint in which she says that their father always used to say about the "dump little brother".

I guess Trevor is one of the victims we had seen in the fbi photos?
Too bad. He seemed to be a nice person. :/

Amazing episode. I agree with alot of you, the human nature of it all was great, and the emphasis on only a few charcters at a time was also great. I don't mind having so many main characters if all the eps were like this. So much was explained and it still had me excited even at the slower pace.

I loved Angela here and it so played into everything we know about her from the pilot on.

Yes! You pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I loved all the scenes with Angela in it and the fact that Linderman cared about her. The slap that Angela gave him, my goodness! That was harsh.

And then, although it does seem a bit out of character, Thompson's decision to let Meredith go. I thought that was very nice of him. I always thought he was cold-hearted and strictly by the books, but seeing that scene gave him a whole new side that I sorta wish we'd seen more of.
