Full Version: How Did Arthur Survive Being Poisoned?

How did he survive? He didn't have any type of healing power, which wouldn't have mattered because the Haitian was there anyway, so what kept him from dying? Maybe Angela didn't want to actually kill him? Or couldn't?
cowgirlhero
I think that the poison hadn't killed him yet when Nathan arrived. Because Nathan called 911 right away, he got to the hospital in time to be saved. So it's Nathan's fault that Arthur is still alive. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Morf
I'm under the impression that the poison induced a heart attack. People do survive those, assuming that they are treated promptly. Therefore I think the logical conclusion is that since Nathan showed up unexpectedly, Arthur ended up receiving the required treatment and was able to survive.
SaberProductions
Well, Angela must have known he survived, either by plotting it, or maybe, finding out in a dream. OR, maybe the doctor worked for the company and told her later when she wasn't around Nathan that he'd survived.
aulduron
I think him dying depended on the Haitian suppressing some power. It looked like he left when Nathan came. I think Nathan saved his life.
themightytruk
Yeah, because Nathan showed up, Arthur made it to the hospital in time to be saved by natural means. The Haitian must not have been at the hospital, so Arthur was able to use his telepathy to make the doctor do what he wanted, so Arthur could fake his death. But he was left paralyzed on that machine until he got Adam's power to heal later.

Yes and as the doctor said it messed with his... nervous system I believe and made him paralyzed.
Trayton
The doctor said his peripheral nervous system was affected by the poison, a side effect.

Oh come on. Angela doesn't know everything. Even the pre-cog painters don't know everything, and they seem to have far more visions than she does.
Citizen
I agree with Clay.

Angela isn't an omnipotent being with a plan.
MagnificoG
Was it jusst me, or did Arthur appear simply to be a Telepath, not a power-thief? If he was a power-thief there could be any number of conceivable abilities to help him survive once the Haitian skidaddled.
BluePrints
Is it me, or wasn't it strange for the Haitian to be standing in back of Arthur and Arthur not doing or suspecting anything until he finally felt the poison working? Arthur looks back and sees the Haitian and acts like it's no big deal. I'm not saying that it would have prevented anything since he already ate the soup, but it seemed weird to me.

AcesX
i'm confused on something...

in this episode, nathan is upset and thinks that arthur died having a heart attack...

..but, in Season 1, didn't angela tell the petrelli boys that their dad died by suicide?

someone help me! i don't understand this..
DrStrange
She told Peter that after he jumped off the building. I see it as her trying to keep him from trying anything stupid like revealing an ability.

Petrelli's rarely tell the truth. Especially to their own family members.

Oh and Arthur thought no big deal of the Haitian there cause what could he do? He was someone that relied on their ability too often and the Haitian negates that. He didn't know what else to do. Any sudden movement and the Haitian would've put him down and wiped his mind. Though amnesia would've been interesting to have to explain to the kids

The doctor was under Author’s control. Angela wanted him cremated immediately! She was very surprised to see him alive in her dream a couple of episodes ago. Angela thought he was dead.

Yes, I thought that was odd we never saw him with another power. I wonder if he is indeed a parasite and can only use the powers of one host at a time.

And there is no way Angela knew he was a live and yes she doesn't and can't know everything. I do wish we had seen Angela dream in this episode or talk about a dream, would have been interesting, but pre-cogs can't know everything.
quang
I don't understand why the Haitian didn't just temporarily wipe Nathan's memory, and then take Arthur to be cremated?

The Dr. was the same Doctor who's been taking care of Arthur all season. He was there when Adam Monroe got killed, and he himself got killed in the present story line in ep. 7 when Sylar threw him against a wall. So I'd say the Dr. was a definite company plant and that no Angela didn't know he was still alive, due to her surprise when she got put into a coma. And it does look like Nathan saved his father's life, maybe their reunion won't be as brutal as Peter's was.

I think it's been well established that Angie has a big problem with brain manipulation and scaring the brain. She doesn't seem to like to do it to her family and now we know why. She also didn't react so well to Matt when she found out what he could NOW do.

I figured it was because Nathan was too quick to get on the phone to get an ambulance on the way.

I don't see it that way at all. The doctor was simply the doctor working at the hospital when Nathan brought him in. Then Arthur got in his head and had the doctor tell Nathan that he died. Then later, Arthur told the doctor to tell the hospital to transfer him to his place at primatech and he has been in his mind ever since under total control by Arthur.

V27,

It's no odder than not seeing Sylar use more than TK among the arsenal of stolen powers he has and has had.

Of course precogs cannot know all things. They see significant signposts (temporal markers) along the way...so to speak. Great observation!
