Last it seems there won't be a green storyline in HEROES this week… Oh well, ya can't expect HEROES to always be Earth-friendly, though it would be good if the characters don't rip the world in two*laugh.gif

And other PSAs for the week are here...

Thanks HERO. I saw this stuff about green week during football. I think it's great.

We should do something on 9th to go with it.

We could all name one thing we do to help the environment? I just switched all my cleaning supplies to eco friendly. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info, HERΟ. It's nice to see reminders like this. There's a number of simple things people could do that could add up in the large scale to help improve the environment. If only more people thought about it.

A few months ago, the city sent out forms for people who want to have trees planted in the front yard next to the sidewalk for free. My parents had me sign up for one and last Thursday, they came by and gave us two trees!

Well, we may not see any direct or immediate benefits from it, but I think, since people wanna wish each other a happy birthday anyway, then if folks here just "hijack" a tree at NEC's Ecotonoha and write your messages as "leaves" there (where 100 leaves = 1 tree planted), then that would be one easy thing to do to help the environment.

Other ideas to lower one's carbon footprint can also be found at Get On Board, too, if people are interested...

Subaru Drives NBC's 'Green Is Universal'
by Wayne Friedman, Tuesday, Nov 18, 2008 7:45 AM ET
For its now second annual "Green is Universal" week, NBC Universal has made a major sponsoring deal with Subaru of America.

During the week-long event--which features a host of green activities and green-themed TV shows--Subaru will get three 40-second vignettes running as part of featuring talent from the NBC series "HEROES," who give car-related "green" tips. The event this year begins Sunday, Nov. 16, during NBC's pre-game show "Football Night in America," and wraps up the following Saturday, Nov. 22, with NBC's coverage of the Syracuse-Notre Dame game in South Bend.

Throughout the week, 42 NBCU brands will feature 150-plus hours of environmentally themed programming across the company's television and digital platforms.

In prime time, seven NBC shows will feature green story lines including "Lipstick Jungle," "Kath & Kim," "My Own Worst Enemy," "Knight Rider," "Life," and "Law & Order".

Talent featured in the "Green Your Routine" campaign through NBC's "The More You Know" public service announcements includes Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: SVU"; Howie Mandel of "Deal or No Deal"; John Krasinski of "The Office"; Jaime Pressly of "My Name is Earl"; Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer of "30 Rock"; Masi Oka and Zachary Quinto of "HEROES"; Debra Messing of USA Network's "The Starter Wife"; and Ann Curry, Meredith Vieira and Al Roker of "The Today Show".

Among the special programming, NBC News' "The Today Show" will continue with its Part "Ends of the Earth" series, where the show's anchors report about global warming world's water supply. "NBC Nightly News" will examine the energy challenges for the new administration, such as the national electricity grid, clean coal technology and nuclear waste.

NBC Universal's ten owned-and-operated stations are producing local on-air and online, as "Green Your Routine" tips, and NBC's local production unit, LX.TV, will highlight a special half-hour episode of the best green homes in the country.

"Green Is Universal" is also launching a line of eco-friendly products: Reusable shopping bags featured on "The Today Show", and "HEROES" t-shirts made from recycled materials.
