Well, I've been watching every single episode of Heroes since the very beginning, but I couldn't agree more with what this article says.
Heroes used to be great because it was fresh & naive, with a clear plot and a lot of "yatta" moments. Now it's just superpowered dudes fighting. In brief, Heroes went quickly from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z, from Star Wars episodes IV, V, VI to episodes I, II, III, from Bryan Singer's to Brett Ratner's X-Men, from Les Misérables to melodrama, from Beethoven to noise, from JFK to Kerry, from Lincoln to Palin, etc., etc., etc.

Once again, I'm gonna have to go against everything said in one of these "We, writers of articles nobody cares about, think we can write Heroes better than the current writing staff". It says Heroes was good until the season 1 finale, which happens to be my favorite episode of the season (OMG, NO COMPANEE MANN OR 5IVE YEARS GUN?). It also says season 3 is boring and confusing to viewers, but to my knowledge, it seems like that's very wrong and Heroes still has a strong fanbase out there who tune in every Monday to watch one of their favorite shows.
Why would it be confusing? The writers assume the viewer can understand things, so if they can't, then they should disown a television set.

So now a show being complex is negative? This seems to me like more of the dumb-ing down of America. Simplify things so it will be easier. God forbid people actually have to keep up with the show and pay attention. I think Heroes fell off SLIGHTLY in season 2 but it wasn't entirely preventable with the writers strike. Season 3 is bouncing back from that and I can think of MANY moments that left me with my hand over my mouth at the end of an episode. I can't think of any other show that has ever done that to me. I love this show and according to ratings and the huge fanbase..and sites like this one! I would say they are far from dying.

I especially liked season 1 as it had the raw, fresh element evident in the beginnings of any popular cult fiction.
& season 3, might I add, is just as entertaining, maybe just a tad less than it's predecessors.

I'm really feeling this bit right here:
QUOTE
In its first season, "Heroes" felt as if it had a plan. It wasn't predictable, but as the writers filled in the blanks, there was a logic and coherence to the story.
I think that the feeling that Heroes had a plan was a big part of what made the first season different/special from this one. There was a little bit of hand-holding with all the time travel and the paintings and stuff in typical Heroes fashion, but beyond that the writing was great and the viewers could move from one episode to the next without a big fat question mark hanging over their head.

The humans who make heroes are not perfect, and thus the show is not perfect. Beyond that the (supposed fans who complain) need to stop saying "well [insert character here] should or should not have done X.] With the show in its third season any fan who says "that was out of character in response to something a character did or did not do." is a fool. Three seasons in there are huge amounts of information we don't know about every character and we surely don't know how far every character will go in doing something. Nothing any character does can be out of character because just like real people these characters could pretty much take any action they wanted to. Real people can switch from being very kind to extremely violent in a matter of seconds, I don't expect any less from the characters on heroes.
Heroes in most cases is only confusing when the viewer is not paying attention. For all the other times the show is only confusing because not all the information has been given out yet.
