So HRG's the third person to beat up on Sylar this season. It seems he's incapable of defending himself when evenly matched! Why doesn't he defend himself? Throw a punch, try to land a good hit maybe?
As for HRG, it was sweet revenge for all the pain they had caused his family!

Hes not a fighter. He wasnt brought up as such. HRG is clearly trained as well as being the same size if not bigger than Sylar.

B/c without his powers he was just a watch repairman, this whole episode was about people being weak without their powers.

Just proves that without his powers... Sylar is almost as pathedic as Peter without powers...
He's just not a fighter, hence why HRG beat the crap outta him. WITH powers HRG would be dead.

Actually, Peter is turning out pretty cool without his powers..

I liked the way this was done. They all relied too much on their abilities and Sylar's no different.

Nov 24 2008, 07:17 PM
Yeah, before he was Sylar he was just a watchmaker. I don't think he has been lifting too many weights on his off time, either. Doesn't strike me as the type who would be great in a fight.
I mean, he got beat up by PETER. What chance did he stand against Noah "Awesome" Bennet?

HRG could whoop the tail of every hero at this point. He's got mad skills when it comes to arming up against them WITH powers. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Dang, the writers really rock! I loved the discussion between Elle and Sylar, talking about their lives, powers, all that. Then they both come to a point of saying they feel powerless. The double meaning is so important for them.

Nov 24 2008, 07:37 PM
Yeah, Noah's just awesome. He's trained for pwnage, while Sylar's almost always relied on his powers in these kind of situations. I imagine it'd be difficult for even a skilled combatant to stand up to Noah without powers. And Noah does a good job of handling powered people, too.

Yeah, but I'm not a trained fighter at all, and I could land a good punch or kick if I had too... It's true they relied too much on their powers, but still. In a life or death situation, survival instincts should kick in. He should have defended himself somehow.

Lets not kid ourselves, Gabriel was a dainty lil fancy boy before he got his powers.
Noah is a highly trained killer (that has taken on superpowers without any "gift" at all") that can probably murder you with his fingernail alone in 80 different ways.

Yeah there is surely no way Sylar could take on Noah in powerless hand to hand combat. But I wouldn't say hes still not quite a potential threat without them since he did manage to manipulate his way from Mexico to New York and gain his powers back.

Yeah... but he's much better dealing with people who don't know what he's capable of. The problem is HRG knows him too well.

I'm a big fan of Sylar...but I just loved listening to him cry like a girl when Noah knocked his arm right out of its socket.
Typically, with the fights on this show, the fights are very stock and simplistic with noises and whatnot...but the blows HRG landed and the reactions afterwards were flinch-worthy. I actually thought for a moment he killed Elle when he struck her.

No you could not. You would telegraph your punches and look like slow mo for a trained and skilled fighter. I think most people donīt realize what a difference training makes. Without it you are not used to the moves, you have no judge of distance and timing. Itīs very hard to hit a guy whoīs trained to net get hit and hit you in return while you are not trained to not get hit. TV brawls are highly unrealistic though.

Yeah, also HRG knew that something was up when Sylar couldn't throw him across the room with TK, and he took advantage of Sylar's confusion. Why Sylar was temporarily stunned over his lose of powers, HRG was already half-way to taking him out. Guess he couldn't out smart HRG after all...

I took it that in the other fight scenes this season he hasn't been doing a lot of fighting back because he's feeling guilty.
Also note at the end of the fight he had grabbed the gun and could have shot Bennet there but he didn't take the shot.

The fight was great. He should change his name to B.A. Bennet.
Also, the cliffhanger with him across the street with a sniper rifle was priceless.
I just hope he gets Elle instead so Sylar will be pushed back over the edge into insanity.

There always seems to be a rumor of killing of HRG, now as much as I adore Sylar and ZQ, I would quit the series if they killed off HRG.
I rooted for HRG to beat the stuffin' out of Sylar. Its a reasonable feeling considering all the little beast has done to his daughter.
HRG is the dream Daddy. The warm, caring father who no one better mess with, especially over his little girl.
Makes me miss mine thinking about it.
But let me post this from the Clair and Elle thread.
Under these circumstances, the question again becomes who is the true Villain? Sylar or HRG? The monster or the one who helped to make him and following orders loosed him on the world?
After all, if HRG had left Sylar alone only Brian Davis would have been dead plus Sylar, as Elle would not have been sent to interfere with his suicide.
And the monster you helped create comes at you and your loved ones, isn't that called Karma?

Sounds like the classic Frankenstein plot. Man creates monster, monster realizes how the world sees him, monster seeks revenge on those who made him that way.

Judging by the preview for next episode, I'm assuming Noah tranquilizes them with the sniper rifle and doesn't blow their brains out. He then appears to torture them. Not a good idea because at least one of them is going to come back mad as hell.
I tihnk HRG may set in motion some serious $#!%.. which won't tell out well (coming from a Gabriel fan not a Sylar fan!)

more of it? I think I'm going to have to stop coming to the episodic forums, because spoilers leak through every bleeding week!

I agree. In fact, sadly, I predict
1. Sylar loses Elle (HRG or Arthur)
2. Matt loses Daphne (plane crash or Arthur)
3. Mohinder loses Maya
(that is if she's forced to come back just so the Maya haters can have the satisfaction of Sylar or Arthur killing her, just when she was able to walk out alive with the outside chance of one day coming back to get her much deserved vengence against Sylar)
Once again, the curse of a romance on "Heroes" cruelly ends a female character's life and an actresses paycheck
