I'm not sure if it was my TV or the lighting was just dark, but I couldn't tell who the sniper was at the end of the show . . . was that HRG?

It seemed to me that a lot of the lighting was dark on this episode, I guess to simulate the eclipse, but it also made it hard to see certain things.

If the lighting was bad enough to cause trouble with you seeing elements within the show, I recommend playing with the settings (especially contrast and lightness) on your television. I've not had any trouble with the lighting this season at all.

Oh a side note, I thought that scene was bloodly hilarious! HRG with a sniper - rifle... imagine the sigs. that'll come out of that...

my first thought was that it was a member of the Kill Squad from the graphic novels (starting at #93) but it was clearly HRG

It was a VERY suspenseful ending. I don't think we've ever seen something like that before on Heroes.

i thought the ending was similar to the end of "Homecoming" in season 1, where jessica has d.l. in her rifle's sight. good fun in all though.

I can't see HRG as doing something like this from afar. He's always been an in your face, watch the light go out of the eyes kind of killer. That's what makes him so cool. I mean, he did kinda make Sylar into a rag doll earlier in the episode, he certainly could take him on now and really prolong the agony. At least, that's the hoping part of me talking here.

It is indeed Mr. Bennett as HRG. I am guessing that he wants to kill Sylar from a distance to avoid the risk of being shot himself. And he doesn't want to give Sylar a chance to slip out.

The coloring was indeed too dark once the eclipse passed over. I had to really mess with the gamma to view stuff there towards the end.

Greg Beaman explains it a couple paragraphs down on his blog post

They did the overpowering darkness after the filming and editing (according to the post it was done last Thursday). This means they can tone down the darkness in the DVD and reruns.

Just needs the announcer from the Unreal Tournament games...

I wonder why some sets had problems with it. Looked slightly darker, but still crystal clear, on my set.

I noticed the darkness of the show throughout, but never enough to detract from the enjoyment. That scene with the sniper was the only time I couldn't quickly see what was going on (I expected HRG to go after Sylar after what he said to Sandra, but when it at first looked obscured due to lighting, I SOOO thought it was Fallon...!) But when they zoomed in I knew who it was. Great finish, can't wait!!!

and oh yea i hated the lighting after the eclipse happened cause I'm still using antenna tv or whatever and it wasn't clear at all and it was dark so i was like ... dammit.

Yes, I agree that it was a bit dark.
Yes, I agree that the shooter is HRG.

But... I disagree about HRG's target. I think he is going after both Elle and Sylar.
Elle is the one who actually shot Claire.
Sylar has been on his list for a while due to MANY MANY reasons.

HRG is one dangerous individual. I expected him to be a sniper. Why not?

Anyone who had problems seeing stuff this episode needs to adjust their television or monitor settings to normal. Even the crappiest of TVs would still have a decent picture on normal settings. So either your settings are off, you have a serious medical issue with your eyes, or your TV or monitor is broke.
