I don't think either of them have ever said anything about it BUT I do know Kristen was at NYU then and I assume they met in New York City. Those in the theatre community kind of know each other, so I just kind of assumed they probably met in New York, stayed in touch and ended up in Los Angeles and stayed friends. I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but being that I'm in the theatre community like they were/are that would be my best guess.

That would make sense too, that is how she met Hayden. She mentioned that in a commentary.

Me too. And the thought that the majority of the internet crowd might actually know to be silly.

Is it really that out of ordinary that it would have mentioned in an interview? Actors get asked pretty dumb and/or personal questions at times. I have no idea, I was just speculating to give the OP an answer and not be mean! I do know KB was at NYU then because an acquaintance of mine was in grad school for theatre and worked with her AND both of them had mentioned they have known each other for 10 years numerous times, nothing weird about knowing that when they have said it in interviews on numerous occasions.

To be fair, it's a lot less creepy than some fans of other shows can be in regards to the actors/people involved. I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this, but IMO, American Idol fans can be incredibly incredibly incredibly creepy about the personal lives of their favorite contestant.

Yeah, and disturbingly over-emotional. Case in point:

I remember crying girl!
I have to admit I do see a fair chunk of that show vicariously through my sister... she had basically the same reaction as all those girls in the first video did when clay aiken lost back in season 2

It
was completely ridiculous...
Anyway, I don't think the original question was all too weird. They are really cute together and have such great chemestry it's natural to wonder what goes into that. I just wish I could see them act in more stuff together.
