Full Version: Peter is a puppy

Peter has this thing where he gravitates towards the people who hurt him or want nothing to do with him. The more Nathan tells him to get lost, or puts him down, or beats him with a led pipe, the more Peter tries to save his life.

I'm not saying he should let him die, he did the right thing..but come on. At least be a little ticked off. At least be like "Nathan, please don't ever try and break my knee cap again okay?"

It is just soooo interesting to see how the dynamic of those two has struggled under all that his happen. Really I think this is how it has always been, and they are only dealing with it now.

I wonder if Peter is ever going to get over being Nathan's kid brother, or if he will finally rise up and make his own choices.

And he always has the SAME excuse..."Because you're my brother and I love you." We get it Peter...family means a LOT to you, but we've heard the same line about 20 times now. Think of something original to say and maybe we'll start to believe you.

I think the repetition is intentional. At this point, it almost sounds like Peter is trying to convince HIMSELF ever time he says it instead of convincing Nathan. I think..for a little while there...he considered not saving his brother at all. To someone who has been as morally sound as Peter...that must have been a scary thought.

It's just it's so predictable what he's going to say. I literally said it out loud with him. How many times does he need to say it before Nathan gets it? Apparently we have a whole nother season to figure that out.

i really really really hope Volume 4 doesnt end with Nathan's "death" again

Villains is the first volume he's survived the season finale!

Good point, I never realized that!

I would have died laughing if he said that Santabiggrin.gif I really wish he did.

Yeah, I agree. I totally understand Peter saving Nathan, but he should have looked slightly more ticked off about it.

yea peter's line was so predictable. i knew exactly what he was gonna say XD but i still love him, and i love him+nathan teehee... except nathans a jerk again.. -.- but i love every single pathan scene PAHAHAHAHA!

People, he got his powers back. That means his brain power has been cut off again.

I agree with this. Think of Claire "wanting to help people" by going after the Level 5 villains, or Angela "wanting a second chance at being a mother". They're all trying to convince themselves - Angela so much as to think she would be convincing enough to overcome a human lie detector.

I'm going to have to go with the idea that Peter still does love his brother. I've been calling him Puppy since I first saw season one exactly because the more you kick him, the more he loves you. I make a motion that "Puppy" become Peter's official nickname.

Any seconds?

Puppy sounds good ;) i loved every scene this episode, especially the Nathan/Peter ones. I like how Peter's finally starting to do what he wants to do, not what Nathan wants.

I must dissappoint you but it wasn't a season finale so there is still "hope" they will repeat themselves for the third time. :P

Considering how Claude got into the habit of calling Peter "Poodle", Puppy's up the same ally.

Oddly enough I find Peter's 'puppy-ness' pretty hilarious, but it is a powerful factor into his personality- because it basically shows his naivety and optimism he views others with.

I've always considered Peter a puppy =]
Whether it's because he looks like one or just acts like one.

lol, aren't you the on who always called him Puppy? (I remember your avatar pic.)

I don't know what the big deal about Peter saving Nathan is. They are after all brothers..Or am I the only one who can follow that sappy logic?

I agree - I think Peter saving Nathan is actually very believable and legitimate, very in sync with Peter's character. Puppy & all, like what Charles Deveaux said, that's probably the redeeming nature of Peter- that he's able to love unconditionally.

I totally said Peter's lines together with him when he told Nathan he loved him 8D it was really very predictable. But I think he does genuinely love Nathan, despite everything; like Claire, who still loves HRG despite all the cupcakes HRG put her through.

Yeah, I'm not saying any of those things (His love for Nathan being predictable and unconditional) are bad, they are very true to Peter. I'm just commenting on Peter as a person, not as he is written.

Of course he should have saved his brother, that isn't what makes him Peter. What makes him Peter is that Nathan just assaulted him with a led pipe for 5 minutes, and it got to the point where it looked like he was going to give him one hell of a black eye with the thing (And made Peter cry out all tearfully "NATHAN NOOOO") and the only thing that stopped the fight was a huge fiery explosion.. after which Peter saves the brother who had just spent the day insulting and battering him,and he doesn't speak up for himself at ALL even when Nathan acts like a tool yelling "Why did you save me!". He just repeats again "Because you are my brother and I love you".

With Nathan acting like such a jackass, I'm just rooting for Peter to have a moment where he speaks up that does NOT end with the two of them punching each other or angrily flying away.

And why? Because Pete saved him! Santabiggrin.gif

I agree, it's a very obvious thing, but I do think we've seen a lot of stepping out of Nathan's shadow last volume, mostly in the jungle. That was the first time Peter really stood up to Nathan (not counting bloodying his nose after that fundraiser). I think we'll see some more struggling free of Nathan from Peter next volume. He hasn't got any choice, really.

And I actually think that we saw him pretty ****** off at all that being kicked in those Haiti arguments. He wouldn't be Peter if he didn't still love Nathan, but he won't take anything Nathan says for law anymore either. Or disagree by pouting. It's pretty much what he did just before Kirby Plaza, when he realised Nathan had turned against him, and he didn't really do anything. Now I'm pretty certain he'll act. Not by shooting Nathan, though - please...

Obviously he can because if my brother did that he would have to wait a while for the "I love you".This Character is great innocent.gif

Agreed. I definitely wouldn't have been all 'lovey dovey' when my brother had just knocked me around a bit, saved him, then have him shout at me for saving him! Not to mention, "that's not what I would have done". glare.gif angry.gif

I hope Nathan at least apoligizes for acting like a total A hole to Peter in the next episode.
