Basically the site works fine at home on my 8meg ADSL, loads instantly, but at work it literally takes 5 minutes a page, we've got a 10 meg fibre connection, it's not down to internet filtering a every other website either loads instantly or comes up with a this website is blocked kinda thing(which is pretty liberal anyways). But this site works just extremely slowly. It's happened everytime I've been on spread over atleast a month.

Any ideas?
Synch
Not a clue. It's not a problem I've had, usually. Once in a while, but not often.

Happens to me often at work too so I have to close my IE and reopen a new window to load.
Rarely from home too but can't quite tell since I'm barely visiting the forums from home. ^^

I think the site loads ok to me. Sometimes the pages load a little slow, but it has to do with the ads on the pages. Those videos take some time even with broadband. Also, there could be an issue with the server, is it a 'shared' server or a dedicated server?

Personally for you, I would switch to the Lo-Fi Version to see if that helps. If it does, then I would say your problems are arising from the ad loads.

EDIT---

My suggestion to the admin, have a medium version of the board. A basic IP.Board setup so a user could edit, post etc...from that view. It would give your non broadband users a better experience.

My apologies for such a belated response to this topic. I meant to reply sooner, then the holidays showed up, I got distracted and forgot about this. blush.gif

One "solution" to this problem is the Lo-Fi Version mentioned by DocWho, but that isn't a very pleasant viewing option.

Another method is to change your board settings.

Near the top of any page in the forum, you can find the link to "My Controls"

Once there, look in the column on the right hand side, where you will find "Board Settings" under the heading "Options". Clicking on the link gives you the following page:

Here you can disable displaying signatures, avatars and/or images. This should significantly speed up the load times of pages.

Hope that helps!
