Thought this episode was a good start to the second half of the season. Ando was awesome, Hiro wasn't annoying, Sylar was badass and Claire and Peter weren't completely dumb. Thumbs up.
lauryn
I thought it was a great start to a season/volume. I agree with what the other poster said about Claire and Peter not being dumb or annoying. Ando was awesome. Sylar was... Sylar.. which means badass!

Only bad thing about this was Matt's story.. which i didn't love... but hey, it was alright! *need more Daphne*

t'was better

matt and daphne were cute... i really don't get whats going on with the future-drawing thing, but itll probably be explained soon. sylar WAS pretty badass... i knew they wouldn't be able to capture him!
haha and i thought it was funny looking back how everyone was obsessing over the hand thing in the commercial trying to figure out who it was. it was peter and mohinder! laugh.gif
Ard_Choille
Awesome start full of some great plot twists. I'm loving Sylar, Ando and Mohinder already!
delusions_of_grandeur
Definitely a good start to Fugitives. I like the fact that Matt's abilities are evolving, ala Isaac and Usutu. The last several minutes were suspenseful, and overall the episode was great!
pjw2000
That was good! Pretty refreshing after the last couple of volumes. Not perfect, but a very satisfying "reboot", if you will. The beginning and ending were very cinematic in tone - very cool! So yeah, thumbs up. 4.5 out of 5.

*Sigh*

I'm hoping this will fall under the realm of constructive criticism, but if I wander too far off track and this becomes negative I apologize.

First, even though we as fans already knew the Heroes would be returning to "normal" lives with day jobs it was still nice to see even if it was for only half an episode. Characterization and dialogue are what made this show great and tonight recaptured that, finally, after a season and a half of it giving way to gratuitous action.

Sylar. Now that, that is a villain. No games, no stupid monologues, just destroy anything in your way. He has power and finally he used it.

Peter. He has ability absorption or empathic mimicry or whatever you want to call it. I am very pleased that he, apparently, needs to have physical contact to absorb abilities now.

Claire. Needs to leave this show. Immediately. She began whining in season 1 and hasn't stopped since. You want people to treat you as an adult? Act like one. I am never in favor of simply killing off characters, but she needs to die.

Parkman. Why? First he can read minds, then it "evolves" into some type of illusion/persuasion thing and now he's a precog. Enough. Are Tim Kring and the writing staff really so ignorant? Why do the Heroes need to see the future? How about the simply react to a situation in front of them? Or be proactive and actually be, you know, Heroes?

Overall I enjoyed the episode and am excited for the first time since season 2 about next week.Good dialogue and characterization are what need to drive this show to make it good, so it better keep it up or I'm out

*Edit*

Sylar being alive...better have a great explanation, but at least I don't have to sit around and watch some crappy mystery unfold.

Hiro and Ando where...eh. i can't say anything good about them because, well, I have never liked either of them.

A Clear and Present Danger is a great title for this eppy it fit really well! This was an amazing start to fugitives. I loveddddddd the end when Claire was saving all of them! AHHHH

It was well worth the wait smile.gif

best frickin episope yet
just wish they didnt add that stupid peter needs to touch to you to get your power gag....LAME

I really liked this episode. Like a lot of people are saying, the normal aspect of the episode was a welcome reminder of Season One. As of this point, excluding the preview for next week, I have no idea what will happen next. That's how it should be. No time travel. No future paintings (no luck on this front). Villains who actually use bullets, which can't be stopped by the Haitian. Besides a few hiccups, this seems to be the true "return" of Heroes. biggrin.gif
Xodus
I thought that was the best episode in a very long time.
TessaBlues
Really really loved the episode. Only thing that kind of bothered me was Parkman becoming the next Isaac, I like his powers evolving bu I'll suspend total judgement to see how that plays out. Other then that I totally loved the episode.
heroesfan456
I really liked the episode other then my complaint in the negative thread. Really good restart to the series and im excited to see where it goes from here.
NeoPhoenix
I'm usually pretty critical of Heroes, especially after the last half of the season, but I honestly don't have a single complaint about this episode. I loved Claire attempting to save everyone and enjoyed the scenes with Sylar. Good episode, I hope they keep it up throughout the rest of the season.
MagnificoG
I thought it was absolutely fantastic! I couldn't be more exited about the new season...!
cowgirlhero
I really enjoyed it. It was the best episode in a while. I just wish we knew how Sylar survived, and why Peter didn't fly out of the plane before it crashed. I hope he got Claire's healing ability again.
KTC
It was definitely refreshing in comparison to the last few episodes we had of Villains and didn't really kick in for me until Nathan took down Peter

It's definitely left me asking alot of questions....

Why is Noah working for Nathan?
What is going on with Peter's power?
Why does Angela back Nathan after the events of Pinehearst?

I love and hate what they've done to Peter, they haven't done enough to explain to us what's going on straight away and they're trying to make us guess, but it's exciting as it potentially puts him literally back at the start of his entire ability and gives us the chance to see ability development better

I also like how they've handled Mohinder too, they've dropped the fly crap and just given him super strength, good job i say!

Overall, i give the episode 7.5/10, it was a slow start but when it did click into gear it was fantastic
LoneHero
Great beginning to the fourth volume, I really enjoyed watching the show. Sylar was acting like he should always act: Trully villainous (sp?). He's not letting anyone get in his way and he's started the body count for this season really well. Mohinder's got better, which is also a good thing, because I really didn't like him when he was the Fly, but is super strength all he has? Peter got what many game players call a Nerf. He's gone from being able to absorb all the powers from everybody to having to touch them. Now all we need is more mechanics on how it works. I don't worry as much about parkman as most of you are, because I don't think its evolving. I think that whatever spirit Utsu is doing, its giving him precog, but not taking away from his mind reading/suggestion powers. But that's just me. I give the show 10/10, with a brownie point to everyone. I feel happy!

What I liked:

-Showing the heroes trying to lead normal lives (especially Peter as a paramedic. The scene showing how he wished he still had his powers so he could have saved the man was very strong imo).

-All the heroes getting captured and then Sylar just owns the whole squad easily main-villain style. It really gave us insight on how much more in control of his powers and dangerous he is.

-Peter's powers nerfed. Looks like he has to have physical contact with the other special now, and he only gets one power at a time. No more bad/frustrating plot to dumb down his exponentially growing powers!

What needs improvement:

-Matt's new powers, unless they give it a proper and reasonable explanation later.
Reboot
What a solid return to form. I absolutely adored the return to a more slow and measured style of storytelling. This was so refreshing after what we've been given in the previous installments. Though I would have like to have seen more of the 'ordinary lives' angle (I mean, Claire's lasted for what, two seconds? And Matt was just sitting at home) it was such a really great idea to return to this aspect, even if it won't last for long.

Loved the neutering of Peter, and though I was ready to completely hate the idea when I initially heard of it, I loved the role-reversal of Hiro and Ando, and how Hiro is taking a really active role to support his friend. Loved it.

Nathan ... is pure awesome when he's like this. You can see the conflict within himself about his own vision, and yet, he knows that this is for the betterment of mankind. Pure awesome. A villian that has actual emotions and a bases from which we can connect with? Yes please.

So yeah, despite a few problems (Matt's precogness, Claire's moaning, and the erratic camerawork) it was a really good return to form. I'm not going to hold my breath, because we all know that things descend after the opener, but I'll be giving this volume a chance.
Astroman77
Overall, am very pleased with the ep. The tone (so far) is similar to S1. Most of them seem like ordinary people with extraordinary abilities again.

-Love bad Nathan.
-Happy about Peter's power
-I thought Tracy's capture was the most emotional. Though having your home invaded and being attacked while half naked can do that.
-Loved Mo ripping the door off and using it as a club then shield
-Hiro and Ando - the lair thing is a little hokey but like the role reversal
-Sylar generally does little for me but loved him kicking ******
-Liked that powers weren't overused
-Liked that there wasn't a bunch of new characters. There was only one new char (The Hunter) and two significant guest stars (Daphne and Ututsu).

I do have several questions though. Hopefully, they will be answered.

-Angela taking part in this. Isn't this the type of the thing she and the Founders were trying to prevent? I am sure there is an ulterior motive.
-How did Sylar survive?
-Matt's new power.
Brennan
Alright, so I have to agree with everyone who said that this episode was reminiscent of season one, and its not just because of the taxi ride or Mohinders run around the corner. The focus on the characters instead of some maniacal plot, the small use of powers (and only when needed), and the grounding of the show back to reality really created the atmosphere that I think we where all missing from season one. Some people say that the plot moved to fast and that they would rather everything slow down, but what I don't think they understand is that this is kind of impossible. We know the characters, the characters know the characters and what they are capable of, and they are all pretty good at using their abilities... Slowing down the plot would be a wast of time and quite redundant. This episode was the perfect pace to me. now for some specifics that I like...

I was actually digin Peter for the first time in like forever. He's never been a favorite of mine, but if the writers keep writing him like this, then he definitely wont be too far down the list. As my mom put it, he 'grew a sack', we got to see him be empathetic (which is what he's good at) and finally he wasn't an idiot. Good job with that one guys!

I have to say the same for Nathan as well. I'm actually liking the whole bad guy thing, though I do wish theat they'd delve a little deeper into his train of thought.

I loved the way that the episode opened with Tracy on the phone, (with the governor, hence showing her return to a normal life) and then the seamless transition into her bag and tag. We see that she definitely has her powers under control, though unfortunately they couldn't save her this time. This to me was the most dramatic (and entertaining) bag and tag of the episode. (Much better than the whole "is that us? Why is the window broken? BUZZZZZZZZ & Matts been taken out..)

The characters return to a normal life was refreshing, and though some people complain that it didn't last long enough, I have to beg to differ. I don't think that anyone tunes in to watch Claire debate over colleges for 30 minutes of an episode, or to watch Peter hit up a few sick people... Not only do we not have the time, but we as an audience are to believe that these characters have already settled. We got a glimpse of what they where up to, and then it moved into the actual point of the show, (what we do tune in to see...) I for one am more than happy that they didn't spend three episodes showing 'normal life'... Can anyone say BORING!

And last but not least, the end scene was AMAZING! The only good thing about the characters never really all being together is that when they are, I for one am that much more excited! Everything from Claire taking the tubes out of their noses, to the one random person getting sucked out in their seat kept me on the edge of my seat, and was an awesome kickoff not only for the next episode, but for the entire season!! The only thing that held this scene back was Claire's untimely discovery that her father is indeed a part of this whole thing, most likely jut to keep his family safe, blah blah blah. Not the kind of rererererehashed drama I'm looking for.

Awesome job guys, definitely the best episode since season one!

9/10!
Raekon
Well even everything went kinda fast, I liked the pace more than in some other very tedious episodes that looked as if you would watch the show in slow motion but also better than some rushed ones that were like, you capture, you were a bad guy, here have a cookie, now you are a good guy, go kill for me instead of you and all that in around 2 minutes (volume 3). So I would say it started good this time and the pace was good.

I wrote into the negative reviews what I didn't liked (claire/HRG daddy issues, Peters power, Matts power) so I wanted to to write the good stuff here:

- Tracys and Mohinders bag and tags were the best and was really good executed in my opinion.
Even I would had liked tracy to try to fight a bit more (like maybe trying to call the police or throw stuff at them or anything?), her scene was good and that her power was the reason that the plane crashed was good too.
Mohinders fighting was good and he was the only one next to sylar that kept going after he got shot instead of fainting like all the others immediately showing that his power was still in tact.

- Angela brought the portion mystery the show needs once again by leaving everyone thinking why she teamed with Nathan in such a thing. Most of all since she was the one that never wanted something like that to happen and would rather sacrifice herself to prevent it instead of supporting it. So I guess she is pulling other strings behind Nathans back that are yet to be revealed and I can't wait to find out what strings. smile.gif

- Daphne and Ando will probably be majorly ****** about the happenings and I can't wait to see them teaming and going into action to help/rescue the others. smile.gif Maybe Angela even teams with them for that purpose? smile.gif
Would be really cool!

- The final scene was nice and the tension and progress in the story was nice (aside of sylars journey that were a bit out of place next to everything else except the scene they tried to capture him).

A good episode that needed a bit fine tuning here and there but still enjoyable and finally with a good cliffhanger again. smile.gif

I thought this was a very good episode. There are a few small concerns still, mainly Parkman and his new ability, as well as his interactions with Daphne (I don't really think they have much on screen chemistry) but I am certainly pleased with the direction this season seems to be going. It's only one episode, so I'm still going to be cautious, but now that can be tempered with optimism as well.

This was the best episode since season 1..

The writers have finally figured it out. This episode rocked my socks and Ill def. watch it again.

This is the first episode that I'll rewatch since S2 started. That says alot about the quality of this episode. Even though it was a set-up episode for the rest of the Volume it was better than anything from S2 or S3, IMO.

They definately went back to the roots while still retaining the fact that these characters have all, pretty much, interacted with each other and have a backstory. The really interesting scenes, to me, are Parkman talking about getting back to normal after the craziness of the past two years and Peter and Mohinders convo in the cab relative to staying out of trouble. It was really good to see these people getting back to normal and even shaking their heads at what has happened since they last were in their "normal" lives before the eclipse.

Sylar's take down of the agents was the best action sequence of the series so far for me, really excellent job by the FX crew and stunt coordinators. Loved how he held the agent suspended to block the shot of the agent aiming at him, it showed how fights in close quarters are vastly different than when there is room to manuver (sp?)

Also, while I'm predisposed to liking (The Hunter a/k/a the head take down guy) from his previous roles I will say he again does an excellent job blending in with the cast of any show he appears on. What I particularly like about the actor is the non-verbal clues the actor gives to convey the character's feeling on a topic which was evidenced last night by the disapproving semi-glare he gives Nathan over the special treatment of his daughter.
Imthehero
Great ep! I loved the entire episode, and am thrilled to have Heroes back, and in top form!

Loved that Claire is actually doing somthing!

Loved that Sylar is still a Gangsta, and is finding out about his family. Also, props for wrecking the bag/tag team.

Loved that HRG went back to his old life... Bagging and Tagging! HRG: New Government Sanctioned Awesomeness!

Peters new power limits are a bit trite, and over all, kinda meh, but I liked his character, and his cab ride with mo was kinda cool.

Overall, I give this ep a 9.999/10
couldnt give it a 10, have to leave room for improvment, lol.

I think this weeks episode renewed my excitement for the show. It reminded me of why i fell in love with the show--not because of the action, although that does it for me too. But more so the mystery and thrill. I don't know who i'm going to cheer for next. One minute I hate Sylar, the next minute I hoping he saves us all and I'm thankful for his stubbornness. I looked more than forward to the episode airings to restart, but this time i wasn't just pleasantly surprised with the episode, I was pleasantly satisfied and can't wait until next week!

I've got to say the situation at the end with all the noise fading out to that cinematic, almost serene music made me all tingly the way Heroes used to back in 'the day'!

one of my favorite moments was with peter and his EMT buddy, it showed that peter has been struggling with how his power now works. There is more going on here than most see, he tried with all his heart to save someone only to fail...He spoke of having super strength being physically stronger he could have tore open the car and saved him. Then why didn't he, its because he is struggling with how and what his new power really is and how he craves for power yet is very limited as shown later.

If i am correct, his power is like his father's, the only way he can permanently have another ability is to take it all out, and leave nothing behind. Peter can't do that to his friends and family, and now can only juice powers for a short time or temp basis unless he fully drains them. You could see he was struggling with something when pressured about his strength, it seemed to me like he was fighting an urge, keeping himself from becoming a thief like his father.

I just hope they due a flash back about the 2 months missing, so we can see how peter discovered his new ability, and why he seemed soo conflicted about it when talking about strength and power to his EMT buddy.

I disagree. I think Nathan still has the power of flight, I don't think Peter drains them. But that's for another thread..

you didn't read my post well, I said he could drain them out like his dad, but doesn't its not in his nature to and thus only seems to retain abilities for limited time. however if he was desperate or pushed enough he might take it all and leave none behing.

You should post it in the Peter's ability thread (if you haven't already).

another thing i absolutly loved in this episode is the subtle changes over 2 months and the reprucussions of last season being felt.

Unlike previous volume openers which don't bother with reprecussions of previous volumes, this one did a better job.

nathan, still in full swing in his belief that he will not be someone else's tool or cater to anyone else any longer, he is his own decision maker now, and he is committed to the idea that mankind is not ready for the burden and resposiblity of having super powers.

Peter, reeling from the loss of his god like abilities, he is finding it difficult to adjust to not having all his old abilities to save lives, and even seeing the consequences of volume 3 on his life. If he was still his old sel he could save lives, and yet his new power doesn't allow for that. Something has been eating away at him as he is more straight foward in his tone and attitude, no longer the ever hopeful beacon of love.

Claire, paranoid and no longer able to live in a world knowing evil like sylar exists, despite seeing his death she beleives him to still be out there, and also wants to do good like peter. While a little too dedicated to this she has now come to see her power is a gift and that she should be welcoming it rather than pushing it away.

Hiro and Ando, the switch has allowed them to feel the burden of eachothers own previous relationship, when Ando tried to give hiro advice as a normie, he was usually ignored by hiro, and now it is reversed. Hiro harkening back to his childhood dreams of super heroes and urging Ando to do good as the ode to when good men do nothing evil wins.

Matt, after being involved in soo much consipiracy and life threatening moments, he no longer wishes to use his gift as it brought him some misery. Wife divorced him, lost his job, nearly died, nearly had his new GF die, and with nathan hunting them he has become quite tempered and more than able to live a normal life.

WOW! Great episode! I finally got done watching it!

Couple of points:

My favorite character HRG is obviously playing both sides as he always does. Great to see him back in that role. Possibly deciding that if the Hunter has a part to play HRG is going to be there as a safety net for the SG's. I think he knows how that guy operates and he wants to make sure he doesn't go too far. I have no doubt that the Hunter was one of the agents...even THE agent that trained HRG. I know I know, what about Ivan from Russia...he was one of those guys too!

Sylar is just always a badass and always compelling. He REALLY wants to know who he is and where he came from. Did his dad(s) set that trap for him? As always I am thrilled to see Sylar be 'Sylar'

Claire has finally grown and taken some action and I like that a lot. Can't wait to see where this goes for her.

Parkman/ Daphne...eh we will see. I like that he has the prophecy to be honest.

Peter. Always the dummy when it comes to big brother. I love the fact that they have cut his power down by only allowing him 1 ability at a time. I actually hope he doesn't regain all of his abilities back. This volume will end with him and Nathan throwing down and possibly the death of one of them...I would bet Nathan.

Tracy...not much there yet...but great way to start off the episode.

Hiro/ Ando. Love the dynamic between them always! I figured that 'Ando' would be the password. I agree that he will be the one to find the plane crash probably with Daphne's help.

Usutu...awesome. That is all.

Nathan. I love evil Nathan. What I want to know is what are his real goals and why?

The Haitian. Where are his loyalties? HRG or Angela? Or with his own kind? He will be a true wildcard when he shows up.

I think the one girl that was unmasked on the plane was the long hoped for Sparrow Redhouse...she looked the part!

Great episode I think we are in the right direction now if it stays cohesive like this we may be on a real roll!

Aaaaaaah! That was what was in that painting! Daphne and Ando! VERY cool. You're right.

I'll echo pretty much everyone on here in saying that it was a great episode, and a great return to old form.

- LOVED the pace and the character interaction (Peter, Nathan, Mohinder, Noah, Hiro, Ando).
- LOVED Claire taking action.
- LOVED powered-down Peter.
- LOVED Nathan being evil-ish for all the right reasons.
- Ando-cycle is EPIC!
- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the whole concept of fugitives having to hide through no fault of their own. My favourite kind of story. This can only be good.

The only thing I didn't like too much was Matt being "chosen" as the new Tim Sale. wink.gif Don't get me wrong, I love Tim's artwork and it's such an important part of the show, but I didn't like the turnaround too much.
Besarien
I thought this was a great starting episode to the volume. Some of the camera direction was questionable, but no huge biggy. I like the premise of them all being outcasts and having to rely on each other for survival. I imagine HRG will switch sides now that Claire is involved which is good because of the lot, he strikes me as the only one with any practical survival skills. Ando will find them, of course. Sylar's got a bone to pick with Angela and Nathan and a dad to find who's a taxidermist, which imo is creepier than watchmaking. I'm hoping for some of the best Heroes since season one. So far so good.
BrokenTimepiece
Simply one of the best episodes in this season. Excellent writing.
Only one minus: Hiro! he's everyones favorite, and they take his powers away!! I'd rather they killed him, because this solution kills the show.
I hope he gets full powers in season 4
