i think hiro/the writers forgot about charlie after all the zany adventures during the last 2 seasons and had no one else except ando..

When he said ''someone important to [him]'', I though about two possibilities: Ando or Charlie! And kinda hoped it would be Charlie but, deep down, I knew the answer was Ando! Kinda nice I have to say. I'm surprised Ando though about Kensei before himself, however! I mean, Kaito, ok, that makes sense, but Kensei? Hiro buried the guy alive, like, 3 times if I remember well! Doesn't seem like he care much about him anymore!

Too bad it wasn't Charlie... At least Ando should have tried the name, and see that it didn't work. Just, a reference to the girl! That would have been nice!

Yeah... I guess I have to admit I was hoping it would be Charlie, but I figured it would end up being Ando. Just as a reminder that they're still friends, despite the whole "vision of Ando killing Hiro in an alternate future that didn't happen" thing. Still - that would have been really cool of the writers to let it be Charlie.

I'm not mad that it wasn't Charlie, but Ando should have at least tried Charlie.

That would show us how much Hiro really cares for Ando.

I mean he tried Kensei. What? the guy who killed his father and tried to destroy the world? How stupid was that? Charlie would have been better than Kensei.

To be honest I also thought that it might be charlie but on the other hand I was happy it was rather Ando because this gave Ando the confirmation that Hiro is still his best friend and that he still trusts him after the few issues they had in volume 3.

Although I was sure it was going to be Ando, I wasn't really surprised to see Ando trying "Kensei".
Of course, Kensei was the man who killed Hiro's father, but he was also Hiro's childhood hero, someone who had great influence on all his life. And, before his betrayal, Kensei was Hiro's friend and Ando knew it thanks to the scrolls from the sword.
So it wasn't a shock for me.
And Charlie? Seems like almost everyone forgot she even existed. Save for some really big fans.

Only you guys are hung up on Charlie - Hiro knew her for what, a few hours? A week tops? Cmon - someone close to him is an almost-girlfriend he had for a few days? Most fans probably would have been "who's charlie." (even Ando might have said that!)

Yaeko was a bit closer - Hiro even on the show admitted his love for her. That seemed more real than his short infatuation with Charlie.

Kensei MAKES SENSE - the villain was Adam Monroe. But Hiro loved the legend of Takezo Kensei - which of course ended up being Hiro!

Must admit - when I heard this, my first thought was "they won't be stupid enough to make it Ando, will they? That's too predictable." So I was kinda disappointed - not as much though as season 2's "letters through Kensei's sword" gimmick.

Actually, Hiro knew Charlie for a few months and they had a relationship together, at least according the Saving Charlie novel which, admittedly, kind of sucked, but still. They were together for a lot longer than a few hours or a week.

Yeah - back in the good ol' days in S1 when Hiro had a blog (written by Masi) he used to sign his entries, "For Charlie." It just would have been cool if he had used that as a password - just to show that he still remembers her. Her death had a great influence on how he viewed his powers.

Or maybe they thought that Charlie would be obvious since it happened within the last two years.

When he said it was someone very important to him, I first thought "Oh! It's Charlie!"

Then I realized that Hiro forgot about Charlie last season when he fell in love with that girl from the past (I forget her name).

I was mad that it was Ando. That's painfully obvious. Worst password ever.

I agree that they should have showed Ando at least trying out "Charlie" and "Yaeko" first. It could actually make quite a comical scene with Ando saying "That heartless guy... he already has another woman?" after the two names fail to work.

I think they should have at least had Ando try Charlie even though it was not the password.
Seriously though "Ando" is such a bad password it is ridiculous.

Considering it's in the Andocave, a lair that's devoted to Ando, and it's a computer meant to locate Ando, I'd agree that Ando is a pretty pathetic password and not a great way to avoid hacking. It's just common sense, like you wouldn't use your own name as a password, or your house address as a passcode for your house, etcetera.

Aside from that, it was cute.

I would hope that the idea of it being Charlie came up, and they decided that people who hadn't seen S1 it wouldn't have made sense, so they went with Ando, the one constant in Hiro's life through all 3 seasons.

I thought it was going to be Kimiko, but to be honest I was a little let down that it wasn't a 30 digit alpha-numeric password. Come on Hiro, a four letter obvious password? Why bother passwording it at all??

I thought it would have been Caitlin...oh...wait...no that's ANOTHER character's forgotten love i was thinking about, my bad.

Yeah, I too thought of Charlie as being the important person to Hiro, but I think using Ando served the purpose better in this case. After being frustrated with Hiro, it's a reminder to Ando of how important Hiro sees him. Sure, it's an obvious and easily hacked password, but I think most on TV are like that. And I think Hiro wanted Ando to be able to figure it out and come to the realization that he was the person important to him.

Plus, I don't think when making the password was like "someone important to me". He chose Ando as the password, and later when Ando asked him about the password, that's the hint he gave about Ando, because he is important to Hiro.

I admit that I was one of the ones hoping that the password was Charlie but having it be Ando was a sweet but stupid notion. Sweet because it does show Ando that Hiro cares for him no matter what may go down in the future but stupid because who isn't going to get that? It does also make sense that Ando tried Kensi because at one point they were close, you know before Hiro burying him alive and everything.

With the promotional campaign based on a fresh, new start, I think that a lot of casual viewers and n00bs alike would be confused at the notion of the password. In all seriousness, Hiro would NOT make his password Ando or Charlie or Yaeko or Waffles or whatever-the-frak else there is. He's a geek. He should know better password-making skills than that.

I thought it was going to be his mother's name (which escapes me at the moment). I honestly thought there would be a moment of comic relief where Ando tries his own name, access denied, and he puts on a pouty face or something lol.

I had most of the ideas that have been suggested already: Charlie, Yaeko, Kaito, even Kensei (he said "most important", not "most admired", and the guy who nearly kills you is important in the scheme of things; it's the same distinction that makes people mad every time Time magazine names a "bad guy" as "Man of the Year").

And of course it had to turn out to be "Ando". What else? (To be honest, I overlooked "Waffles".)

What disappointed me was how quickly the matter was resolved. The mystery should have been stretched out over several episodes before someone finally figured it out. Maybe have another character guess the password but get killed before they can reveal it. Build a little suspense.

It's like Doctor Who and his sonic screwdriver. You want a lot of things to get in the way: Bad Guys and great gaping chasms, for instance.
You don't want a door getting in the way. And that password was a door. Deal with it and drop it. Move on to the real story.

Hmm, no theory or idea of your own put forward, just a reply in a post someone else started saying something negative about another person's idea. That's kinda shocking. Actually very shocking. Reminds me of this morning when the rotation of the Earth made the sun rise on the eastern horizon. What a huge surprise that was.
Anyway, I expected the password to be Ando just the way he said it in the scene, but was very much hoping it turned out to be Charlie. The whole thing with Yeako seems to have erased Charlie from his memory, which is sad. Especially considering the novel showing everything they shared together. Mask was right, "Boo" on password choice!

I never thought of having Ishi be the password. That would be very touching actually, considering how recent in Hiro's chronology 'Our Father' was.
