Jeffrey Berman, who is a writer, also, had the opportunity to interview writers and/or creators of tv shows that ya might have noticed (such as Buffy, Firefly, LOST, and HEROES), and an article about the deal is here (excerpt):
QUOTE
Creator and host Jeffrey Berman steps into The Write Environment, as he puts us face-to-face with some of the most talented writers in the industry such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog (and Buffy The Vampire Slayer) mastermind Joss Whedon, Entourage creator Doug Ellin, Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and HEROES executive producer Tim Kring.

“How often do you really get to hear interviews with the people who create the entertainment we spend the majority of our lives watching,” said Berman. “I figured [the show] was a great opportunity for the fans to hear from the folks behind the scenes, while offering some insight into the work process to all those screenwriting neophytes out there.”
The site for The Write Environment is in flash and html, and there are a few flv promo/interview excerpts that you can watch, too (such as the promo, or Joss, Damon and Tim).

The interviews are available on dvds, and here's some info from the product description of the drama series ($34.99 atm, and there are other options at the Write Store, too, if you're interested):
QUOTE
THE WRITE ENVIRONMENT is a compelling new series that takes us backstage into the here-to unseen world of the writer's room for an intimate one-on-one interview with some of today's most prolific writers. In these in-depth interviews we take a rare look at these diverse writers and uncover what inspires them. From that first idea to the finished script, the writers share their views and stories as we examine their successes, failures and everything in between. As entertaining as it is informative, this series will be of value to fledgling writers and seasoned pros alike as Hollywood's most successful writers reminisce about their careers and discuss their craft.

Joss Whedon
"You either have to write or you shouldn't be writing."
Writer/Director Joss Whedon is one of Hollywood's hottest writers, having created one of television's most critically praised series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as its hit spin-off Angel. In this candid interview, this third-generation Emmy and Oscar nominated writer talks openly about the early days of his career, his legion of fans and the trials and tribulations of taking a cult TV series to the big screen.

Damon Lindelof
"The cheesy answer is actually sort of the most sincere which is, write for yourself."
Damon Lindelof is one of Hollywood's most successful fanboys. Co-creator of the hit series, Lost, he is also one of the producers charged with re-envisioning the Star Trek franchise in a new motion picture featuring the original crew of the Enterprise. In this one-on-one interview, Lindelof discusses the challenges of writing for an ensemble cast, the pressures of keeping a TV series fresh, and the need to please both his fans and himself.

Tim Kring
"I've always been driven by a tremendous amount of fear as a writer."
Tim Kring is creator of the TV series Heroes, an epic saga that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who possess extraordinary abilities. During his extraordinary career he has written for such hits as Knight Rider, Chicago Hope, Providence and Crossing Jordan (which he also created). In this interview, Kring looks back at his career and shares some of the lessons he learned about pitching producers, adapting his style to fit an assignment and creating a hit TV series.
So, in the product description, what does it mean that Joss is a "third-generation Emmy and Oscar nominated writer"?!? unsure.gif And Kring's quote is that he's driven by fear as a writer. That sounds stressful. That would've been cool to see an interview with Jesse Alexander, too, but oh well...

Anyway, just wanted to share info about this series, just 'cuz, kinda like learning from Jason Badower more about how he does what he does, I think it would be cool to learn from writers of tv shows - it's always fun to find out what creative types* have figured out, imo.

Joss's father and grandfather were television writers, as well, making him a third-gen TV writer:

Oh, I was putting "third-gen" on the whole description of "Emmy and Oscar nominated writer", or, in other words, I thought it meant that one of his parents and grandparents were also Emmy and Oscar nominated writers, which I thought would be quite a heritage! smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification!
