Full Version: Your opinion of Peter, S1 till now

I liked Peter quite a bit at first in S1, got tired of his idiocy midway through, then fell in love with him once again towards the end by the way he was so pure and selfless. For the next 2 volumes, they made him so stupid and unlikeable I wanted to crash my own face into my tv whenever he appeared. I've referred to him as Moron-Boy, the Idiot-Sponge and other things better suited for the interior of a naval ship. He has, FINALLY, this volume been returned to me as a character I am actively rooting for and happy to see. How do you guys feel?

Similarly. It never got so bad that I wanted to hit him, but I always thought he totally wasn't himself in volume 2. Which did make sense for half of the season, but my biggest gripe has been and still is him TKing guards into walls in "Powerless". I felt that they were trying to make him badass at times without really thinking of whether it fit in with him as a character or not.

What I liked about him in season one - mostly early season one, yes - was that he always was a bit of a rebel, but a tame one, at that point. Now he really has a reason to rebel, and he uses his brains in that, and I really, really like it.

... and of course his hair is longer again.

My liking of Peter seems to be inversely proportional to the amount of powers he retains. The more he has, the less I like him. I think that's because I see him do things that seem so stupid considering how many powers he has at his disposal.

I liked him in the first season, for the most part, but as soon as he started retaining abilities, I started to get tired of his bumbling. In the second season, I just wanted him dead. Now he can only retain one power, and I'm starting to enjoy him again. I like that he needs to be more strategic. It's just easier for me to tolerate his mistakes when he's less god-like.

I personally loved him only in certain episodes. In others I just wanted to hit him with a stick or something. I didn't like future Peter at all, cause he was all fierce and it just wasn't Peter-y. Kiddy Pete was still innocent, but it got annoying when he learned how to master some of his powers.

In S2 I foundhis relationship with Caitlin dragging, and his character, too. I wanted to hit him when he teamed up with Adam/Takezo, and slap him in the face when he tried to kill Hiro or smt.

He really wasn't endeared to me as a character till this volume and it has everything to do with his powers.

I loved his wonder and his innocence in S1, I loved that he was trying to discover his abilities and figure this stuff out, I loved his relationship with his brother. But I hated his dependence on Nathan, I hated his naivety (innocence and naivety are not the same to me). He seemed weak to me which was ironic considering the power he possessed.

S2 I didn't like his storyline, pretty much at all. I in general didn't like all the main characters being split up in S2 with no one knowing where anyone else was till 3 episodes from the end of the season. He didn't do much for me, I didn't like Caitlyn, didn't like his amnesia, bleh... it just didn't seem right...

V3 was so all over the place and especially with him. I don't need to gripe but once again just disliked every action, every choice...

This volume, FINALLY! The Peter we should have seen all along, he's strong, he's independent. As he proved last week still empathic, but angry about some stuff and rightfully so. He proves it's not about the "powers" it's all about confidence and action.

If he gets his power back I will be so happy because he will be smart about it this time. But even if he doesn't. He's finally the leader and character I've wanted to see for 3 seasons..

I personally have always loved peter. Even in volume three when he started acting like a total jerk. Season one was the best, Season two was okay, and this volume is getting back to the way i remember him. As for his ability, i liked the ability of empathic mimicry but i agree that it was hard to create challenges. I really like his new ability, though i wish he could hold on to more than one ability as that has always been what has made him really special.

I have always liked Peter and probably always will biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

S1 The monologue states "this is only the begining of the story."
Basically Peter made a decision and started to understand his powers, S1 is this journey. Peter wants to save the world, and very good natured. His power is overwhelming and awesome, however he cant control it completely so we're left wanting more.
Fast forward to now S3
Peters powers are not what they were, and personally Peter has been on an emotionally roller coaster, he's much more jaded than S1. We're left wondering if his powers will evolve like others, and if we'll see the Sylar vs Peter showdown we've been waiting for.

I have always loved Peter since the moment I first saw him. Loved him with his powers, with his amnesia, without his powers. Will continue to love him until the show ends.

Which hopefully won't be for a while.

Yes. I've grown quite fond of my Puppy.

I LOVED this irony though.
He was crap at using his powers yet at the time he was the most powerful

I soooooo hope this does happen - they keep teasing us each season but never deliver.
I just want a balls out rager between them, 5 mins would be enough! is that so much to ask?

Guys!! you don't have to accuse Peter so much for his role in S2 & S3! This is how his role is! You want the writers to make him better? They can't ! He is too good as he is! And you got to admit that without Peter , Heroes would never be the same!

I feel that in the post above we need to distinguish between an actor, a fictional character, and the writing.

... I may be wrong, of course. tongue.gif

Peter served the show well and even grew in character. His character development peaked when he ripped the door off the Primatech vault and since then has been only an interesting sideshow.

IMHO he could die now and I wouldn't miss anything.
Same goes for Claire and Hiro.

I really liked peter in s1, and didn't mind him before he regained his memories, since ammesia explained his actions. second half of s2 and volume 3, I didn't... well, I didn't dislike him, but didn't feel it fitted with how his character had been previously. v4 he seemed to rediscover his brain, but we didn't really see enough of him to fully appreciate it.
From the previews of v5, my hopes are high.

I would love to see Peter replicate Sylar's original ability and become more powerful. Maybe not godlike but at least be able to hold onto more than one power at once, that's just getting irritating. Peter should be kicking Sylar's butt!
sftl99
Peter might have been my favorite character in S1 because of abilities and character development. If he doesn't gain his powers back, he's a useless character. I keep watching and hoping that it will happen, but I'm about to give up on him.
