Well, there's still a question with Tracy, since she winked at Bennet. But sadly, Daphne really is gone. Although it was kind of a boring way to go in the Heroes universe... well, compared to most characters who die.

Man, this is why I love Byran Fuller.
That is how you write a character out. It might not've been the most heart-pounding, adrenalin-pumping death, but it rocked me to my core. I actually felt a tear go down my face.
Well done. Well. Done.

I was so sad to see her go. I was suspicious of her quick recovery from the gunshot wounds, but I didn't think she was going to die. It was a nice, touching scene between her and Matt at the end.
On a Moderator note, the Daphne discussion goes in this topic, the Tracy discussion needs to be

I disagree. Back when we thought that was the end, it felt very abrupt. Felt like a horrible way to end things all of a sudden. Yeah, she does end up dying in the end, but we really get to connect with her death. It was a very touching and sad scene.
Through this, we got to really get a feeling for the relationship between Matt and Daphne. The fact that they were together because of Matt's spirit walk was really addressed, and we saw that they truly did care for and love each other beyond that whole deal. We got to see Matt go from thinking she's dead, to finding out he still has a chance to save her, and he does everything within his power, but in the end Daphne still dies. But in the end, Matt is able to give one last gift to Daphne as she's dying, the perfect moment together. I'm seeing some parallel's here with the Hiro/Charlie story, and this should have a strong and lasting effect on Matt's character.
As I said last time I thought Daphne was dead, I really enjoy the character. I thought she was a great addition to the show, but that's over now. I'm glad she got some solid resolution, and it's sad to see her go. RIP Daphne.

I agree. This scene gave us what we didn't get at the plane crash. It showed Matt full of emotion, even hope, and love for the woman he was losing. It was the goodbye scene that, though I hated to see it, she deserved.

Man, I so knew it she would die, but so hoped it would happen.
WHY DO THEY ALWAYS KILL THE BEST GIRL CHARACTERS!
Like themightytruck said, I'll see some parallel with Charlie, because this is one of the saddest death ever, for a character that was meant to stay with one of the Heroes. At least she lasted longer than Charlie but, still...
This death was sadder than Charlie's one, however! Most well done, and this dreaming scene, it was fantasticly powerful. Great sadness.
I'm sad, but also angry! Like I said, they always ''

'' the best, fun, sweet or sassy girl characters on this show. Eden, Charlie, Elle, Daphne. Those are all characters I'll forever miss, and Daphne is now ex-equo with Charlie at the top-1 of the characters I'll miss. I hope they'll soon introduce a new fun, sweet, sassy girl that actually STAY on the show! And kill off her boyfriend instead! Ok, that's mean, but you get my point!
In any case, R.I.P to Daphne, the best character that Volume 3&4 had. We'll miss you, speedster! Run straight to Heaven!

I liked Daphne and those other characters plus Candice (played by Missy) as well. But this is still a TV show and these actors and actresses all have movie and TV projects. So if they aren't part of the main cast, they aren't going to stay around for too long. They have contracts for a limited run and then they are gone. If they kept them all, there'd be 50 main characters by now. I know people like to emphasize the women that have dropped off but they have killed off plenty of good, interesting male characters on the show too..Isaac, DL, Adam, Maury, Arthur, Bob, Linderman, etc.

the only two times i have cried during this show has been when in company man the haitian shoots HRG and now, as daphne died. the scene was AMAZING and i just can't get over the fact that daphne died. she was so sweet and quirky. i felt really bad for matt and i can't even imagine how he's going to deal with hiro showing up at his doorstep with a baby right after he lost this wonderful girl. i also wonder how hiro is going to react when he finds out.

Yeah, I mean they could of had that scene there instead. Because now either Matt will be all "I must avenge Daphne!" again or he will just move on...which would be weird since he has been absolutely obsessive for a while now.

Well then, let's just make them sign up a new permanent actress, instead of a bunch of temporary one! We don't have much girl characters anymore, and none of them is as sweet and/or sassy, fun, cool girls that those were... And then we always get heartbroken when our favorite girl character dies...

Probably the ebst death on the show imo. Ted and Issac had gruesome deaths, and I didn't care much for any of the other characters that died (apart from Adam! I miss you man!).
At first I was like wtf Matt can fly!?! Then I thought O cupcakes Sylar has got shapeshifting and flying and hes gonna scalp Daphne!!

I'm sad...why do all the cute, sassy, chicks get killed at least the ones I like anyways, but really that was a touching scene, and my lip was trembling. In one aspect I was kinda miffed they brought her back just to have her die, but I was glad that both her and Matt got their feelings straight and had some closure. But I would rather she be healed up and back in the action as I do really like her character and Brea does a fantastic job protraying her. Oh wells. RIP Daphne!

I really would like to know who sat in the creative room and really thought it was a great idea to kill off yet another female character with a fun attitude and a great power, but keeps the likes of Claire, Sylar, and Mohinder alive.
Angela and Claire better watch out, but since they are Petrelli's they'll never be gone or even come close to being harmed.
I'd be scared if I were female actress and landed a new role on this show whose character isn't a Petrelli.

God, that was probably the saddest scene in the whole show... I had tears in my eyes, once I understood that Daphne was really, truly gone. And it took me a while to get that, once I was over the beauty of the scene in Paris... In Matt's head.
It's really sad that they're killing off the best characters, but we did get a wonderful scene. I suppose this one will be remembered for a long time. I know I certainly will remember it.

What a wonderful and touching scene this was. A very sad, yet somehow beautiful death - Matt tried so hard to give her a "storybook ending", as she put it.
It's actually the first time, heroes made me cry.
mrcaliche
Mar 24 2009, 10:22 PM
Daphne's send-offI just had to say this. I've cried exactly twice during the entire run of Heroes. Once, was in the bridge scene at the end of "Company Man", Noah totally broke all my tear restraints when the moment he said "I love you Claire Bear", and made the ultimate sacrifice by having the Haitian delete his memories; that scene killed me... and I thought it would never happen again.
But Daphne's death, and just how incredibly sweet and heartbreaking Matt's actions were, did it again, and that thing is that most of just kept repeating that Matt and Daphne's relationship felt tacked on and not believable all throughout the season, and it was true, the relationship felt forced and not really founded on anything, and in this episode Bryan Fuller FIRST addressed that directly, by having Daphne repeat the exact same words people have been saying: "Just because Matt saw they were together in the future, that doesn't mean that's a basis to start a relationship!", completely disarming me against any objections I could've had against that final scene; then SECOND, he completely validated the relationship with that final scene: "Yes, they didn't have a real basis for a relationship, but had they had the time to truly find the right groundwork for this relationship, it would've WORKED SO WONDERFULLY", it completely broke my heart, because for the very first time I DID see just how great a couple these two could've been, for the first time their possibilities as a couple felt NATURAL and not FORCED, and it was just when that was no longer a possibility. If that doesn't tug at someone's heart strings, it's because that person has no heart, easily one of the most memorable Heroes scenes to date.
I love Bryan Fuller for having CREATED this amazing scene, and Yaitanes for filming it so perfectly. Heroes moved me like it never has before with this scene, there's nothing but praise on my part for it.
And as I said, a lot of characters have died in Heroes, but I don't think any of them went out with such respect, with such care, and such an extraordinary farewell as Daphne did, and it's well deserved, since she's easily the most memorable character to have come from a season filled with dubious quality to many. Bye, Daphne, you'll be missed.
