When she was talking about her dreams, she mentioned a woman (who I'm guessing also had visions of the future) called Cassandra. Who is she :s
GoldSeven
Cassandra, daughter of Priam, king of Troy. The archetype of all seers. She was cursed by Apollo, who loved her but whom she rejected: Every vision she had was accurate, and her curse was that nobody would ever believe her. She foresaw the fall of Troy and had to witness the deaths of her entire family, and could do nothing to prevent it.

Didn't she end up going crazy?

She was killed by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus.

In some versions. From what I can find, mostly in the more modern versions though. There's nothing about insanity in the classic version, at least not that I can find on a quick 'net search.
GoldSeven
Mainly, she ended up being raped as far as I can remember...
Synch
Again, only in the more modern retellings of the legend.

In the original legend, she was a seeress who didn't want to sleep with a god, so he cursed her by making it so nobody would believe her warnings.
GoldSeven
I'm pretty sure she was abducted and raped by Ajax (not THE Ajax but the other one). Abduction usually invites the interpretation of rape in classic myth. I seem to remember that the occurrence turned into the Briseis/Achilles story in the "Troja" movie. Cassandra wasn't int hat, was she? But then, neither was any of the gods, so she was obviously left out by proxy. biggrin.gif

Sweetie, it's been over a year. Ye who knew Angela was prophetic even before fandom-at-large was sure she was prophetic.

Me too. sad.gif

I just wondered about what olivefoxx said - I've always wondered whether Angela was ever going to be killed off, but wouldn't that be a way to go - madness? She has all the reasons in the world, she has a few quirks already that would make it easier for us to buy it, and she would not just be killed but might lead to very interesting side plots.

Not that I WANT it for her, it just struck me...

From what I've been able to discover, there was nothing about rape in the original legend. That has been added over the years as it was retold and interpreted.

This link seems to provide the best summary of the original myth: http://www.1911encyclopedia.org/Cassandra
