This is really getting to me and I was wondering why they have changed Matt Parkman's powers so much? They already had a great character, Eden Mccain, that could control minds and then they killed her off and now Matt is doing exactly what she did! In this last episode he didn't even bother to read minds he just squinted his eyes and tried to mind control them. I don't get why they have to change everything just so he gets more powerful or whatever it is they are trying to do. He was better as kind of an odd fringe character.
Why not give him the power to bake cookies in his belly button too while they're at it? It makes no sense.

Eden's power was purely to persuade people to do what she wanted. She was, in essence, the compliment to Doyle's ability. (He forces them to do something, but leaves the mind free. She forced the mind to do what she wanted.)

Matt's ability always had this possibility inherent in it. By it's nature, mind control was part of telepathy.


Eden was killed off for two reasons. 1: That's why she was created. 2: Because Nora, knowing her character was going to be written off the show, wanted let go to do movies.

what? you don't like it when he squints and grunts while trying to use his power?it's like he went to the rene zellewegger school of method acting "i am squinting and grunting can't you tell what a big moment this is?"but unlike you i sorta like the matt character,sure he is becoming more like eden than like himself in the use of his power but eden was a lost effort by the show so stop raging about it, they can do what they wanna...gosh !
nora zehtner hasn't set the acting world on fire but she was great as eden and was very good in may.

you're ignorate! nora has done some great movies, like that one where she was a princess...that was good. i like matt's character kinda, i just don't want him going the way of Sylar where he is SO powerful. i just don't like that, it feels like they're commmmming to geeeeet youuuuu, or something.

Not that it matters, because they had a point. Nora may have done a couple good movies, although that's debatable. (I haven't seen the one you mentioned, so I can't judge.) But she hasn't set Hollywood on fire. She's not an A-lister yet.

You also meant complement rather than compliment, Synch... but anyways! I think the evolution of abilities makes sense and it would be boring if everyone's power was completely fixed. (Come on, that cold snap of Tracy's was AWESOME, and she originally could only freeze through touch.) I can see how mind reading could lead to mind controlling, so I like how Matt's power has expanded in that way. And Matt isn't exactly using Eden's ability--she had to use her voice.

I don't really like how Matt can paint the future now, however. It sort of makes sense--he's mentally connected to a spirit guide who can paint the future--but I don't see why we need to keep Isaac's ability around after Isaac died.

He doesn't have Eden's powers. He's just using his power in a way that's similar to Eden's.

We've known since Season 2 that he could control anything within the mind. So if he can put images into your head that appear to be real, if he can pull memories out why is it hard to believe he can force you to do and say things? Especially since this isn't even the first time in this VOLUME that he's done it, I definitely don't get the gripes. He made one of the soldiers shoot his own men in Trust and Blood, he and Peter were pushing thoughts all over the place when they pbroke into Building 26, etc.

oh yes! I forgot about this bit. I never cared for that either since it is exactly what...what's his face? the comic book guy? used to do. I can see a bit of an evolution of powers and such but I just hope they don't go overboard. I guess I always assumed you'd be stuck with the power exactly as you got it especially if it came from us genetically altering people to get there. But I guess too that that could be explained as "previously undiscovered power" instead of evolved. Right?

And I also really liked the cold snap stuff in the car park with nikki/traci/jessica/barbara. I hope they do a lot more with that.

I don't concider someone being an A-lister to be the tell all of a good actress. In fact, most A-listers suck, in my opinion. She's quirky and I thought she was perfect for a role in Heroes and it's just too bad she left.

That is not an accurate way of describing how i talk. Whoever came to my defenses nice , you are being rude but wha'ever. I think the carpark scene with tracy/jessice/niki/barbara/gina will be revisited soon unlike Eden. Eden's character will not be revisited. Matt has her power,live with it Matt has Isaac's power and maybe he will get some other discarded power too,so your post may never die.

The point remains that she's done almost nothing since leaving the show. Was she good as Eden? Certainly. Doesn't mean the character should have remained.

He can already do that, not exactly like Claude, but he can make you not see him or anyone else (as we saw in Cold Snap). It's all a part of his telepathy - which is a power that can be used in many ways, but it's still one power.

Damn it!! I forgot about that part! He could even make it seem like he could fly too. Bah! I seems like his imaginary powers could be limitless. Why did you have to tell me this?

Matt Parkman DOESN'T have Eden's power! He's just using his power in the same way as Eden's. Matt Parkman can control anything in the mind and that's what he's doing. When Eden used her power she had to SPEAK her commands. When Parkman makes someone do something you can see that he's getting into their heads and FORCING them to do it. Listen to the sound effects and look at the head ****** Parkman does whether he's just reading minds, pulling memories out or controlling people. It's very easy to see.

It's like Hiro (before he was scaled down) and Rachel Mills from the recruit. They can both teleport but Tracy Mills can't bend time and space and Hiro can teleport more than a few feet at a time.

Difference is Parkman needs total control since it is like, a side effect of his power. Eden could wield it a lot more dangerously.


And...it has been two years. Please tell me kerkerker and waiheke. I have asked so many times, grant me this. Are you the same person? Are you brother and sister? Are you married? It really drives me insane.

Or maybe I should just accept that it will always be a mystery.
