Good episode, but I must say... I didn't like the storms or the editing during the storms. The Suresh/HRG fight was odd and sudden, the "storminess" was also very inconsistent when the shots changed angle.

Alice, as a young girl, had brown eyes... adult Alice - blue
..I was not a fan of the editing - and there was too much talking - give it a 2 1/2 out of 5

Thought about that to. Could it of looked that way cause those scenes were in black and white?

Didn't live up to the hype. At all.
Even if there hadn't been any of the, "It's 'Company Man' for Angela," nonsense, I doubt I'd feel any less disappointed than I am now. I was barely conscious by the end.

We may be a small number, but it is nice to know there are those of the fan base who don't always have to follow the consensus of fans who love anything and everything we get presented with . 1961 didn't do much for me either. First off, this episode really felt like a detour from the entire Fugitives storyline. The rest of the episodes HAVE kept in touch with the Fugitives arc to a certain extent but 1961 was like a big break from the story for an unknown reason.
And, why is it these big, secret revealing episodes raise more questions than answers a lot? For instance, just HOW did the government actually discover people with super abilities so it got to the point where they deemed it a national threat by creating an internment camp for the "gifted"? What the hell is Charles' ability? <----------------This question we've been wondering since season one and, like Kaito, the writers STILL won't elaborate on what it is exactly.
There is a time and place for drama and there were a few moments of 1961 where it was well intended and worked, but I think it was done a little too much this time around. I'm not one to expect Heroes to be wall to wall action, but wall to wall talking is the other extreme that ran rampant in 1961.
Another question, just how was Alice able to make such a speedy getaway and disappear without a trace? If she can use wind manipulation to fly she still wouldn't be able to fly fast enough to be gone like that. Take Nathan and Peter for example when they fly they disappear quickly but there is still visual evidence in the skies of their presence.
Either that or Alice can turn invisible too.
1961 raised more questions than answers. Mostly thumbs down for this episode. Hopefully, with next week's return to the story that all of us want to see things will get back to being better than ever. I was more entertained by the promo for the next two episodes than I was the actual episode that aired this time around.

It was a nice episode, however, I ultimately agree with the above. It just didn't present, or answer, as much as it should have.

I also agree with all of the above, but the only thing I'm really disappointed with is the HYPE. I love this whole story arc, I've liked each and every episode in it, and this one is no exception. My only problem with it is that we're always being promised "another this", "another that" or other mind-blowing stuff. Why do they have to raise such expectations all the time? Both "Cold Wars" and "1961" were fine episodes, but when everybody expects them to be "Company Man 2.0", it's obvious people are going to complain.
Creators - create the show! The hype will create itself!

On top of the general over hype that was the episode, which I completely agree with, this;

Had to be my biggest gripe about it too. There was something seriously jarring about the storm scenes and especially the way HRG and Mohinder interacted, it just seemed quite random.

Enjoyed the episode overall, and felt it to be a necessary one in terms of Heroes in general, but...
...why now?
As I've seen suggested, this episode may have done better AFTER dealing with Danko and the government.
My friends and I all agreed that 1961 pretty much ignored the primary conflict, if not causing us to temporarily forget about it altogether.

For me, it's been the retcons...
S1 -- Linderman's the prime mover.
S2 -- Adam is the prime mover.
S3, Part I -- Arthur is the prime mover.
S3, Part II -- It's all Angela's plan based on dreams.
Even if this can be explained, continuity wise, it shouldn't have to be. It's like they set up a game of musical chairs where their origin story should be.

My only complaint is that it wasn't as good as the previous three episodes. Yes, it was mostly talking but I think it had it's place in today's episode when considering that Team Danko appears to be on the same path.
As for retcons. I don't really see any.
S1- Linderman was the current leader of the company (and a mobster) following Arthur's death (Bob assumes this role in S2). We don't know this at the time but it's easy to infer following Villains.
S2 - Adam brought organization and focus to the vague plans for a company that started in 1961 and continued with War Buddies.
S3 - Arthur was the most powerful of them and appeared to take up complete leadership role following Adam's incarceration.
S3- Angela's dreams in 1961 plant the seeds for what would become the company.
We're not getting everything in chronological order but the pieces fit.

Add the fact that, even back in season one, I always saw Angela as the prime mover, and Linderman merely as an associate. And that was before we knew she had an ability. There was something about her that always suggested that. That's probably mainly thanks to Cristine Rose, but it makes perfect sense for me.

..the casting agent from Heroes just told me that they did do the b&w (altho I did see some of it done in color) to cover the difference in eye colors, because they liked both actors for the parts .. so that explains it

BUT considering the superdark eyes of both young ones ..wasn't happy with this.

Yes, but that really threw me off as well. Young Alice had such dark eyes they almost looked black. Current time Alice looked nothing like her. Considering the pains this show has taken to make family look like family, I find this slightly disappointing.

When I was younger my eyes were very light, like a gold color. But the older I got, the more they darkened, until now, they are currently dark brown/greenish. I don't see any issue with a kids eye color changing, especially since they even did the B&W thing to cover it up more. I do agree though that lil Angela looked more like her older version than lil Alice. Also, lil Alice always looked upset, like perpetually petulant.

Lame, boring episode.
Alice = most useless character in TV EVER.
I like Heroes, but the series deserve to get cancelled just after this episode.
Hope they get better, though.

If I was Angela I'd stop paying attention to her dreams. they NEVER come true.
She dreamed of New York exploding and it didn't.
She dreamed of Claire getting her head tore off and she never did.
I seem to recall her dreaming some other things that didn't happen so she should just take some more tranquilizers and take up a hobby like breeding dogs like Mr. Muggles.

I liked it but having Sylar show back WHEN HE SHOULD ALREADY BE DEAD. There is no need to have story around him anymore.
