Just what was his ability? And was he Alice and Angela's father? it looked like it after all there wasn't just childern there...
rayne
looks like wind control like makin wind into a shear force wave
Mask
I have no idea if he was the father or not, but a lof of people seem to think so.

I'm going more with forcefield projection such as that weilded in Sum Quod Sum.
ChicagoCubz
Yeah, that was Angela and Alice's dad I think. Remember Angela said her parents died there too.
Mask
Wind control, too random. Especially considering his daughter (if that is their father) can control the whole weather. I was thinking forcefield projection like in Sum Quod Sum.
MewtRandell
I'll have to watch the episode again to know for sure whether it was Angela and Alice's father, but I think it was. As for the ability it could be force field projection, or maybe shockwave generation?
Mask
Well yeah, everyone died there, powers or not.

But if everyone says so I'm going with it. XD.
Jwb52z
I was thinking Angela's father's power was a kind of repulsor beam.
Zensu14
If it was forcefield projection, then he wouldn't have been able to get shot. lol

besides if it was forcefield projection then it would of gone around him and Alice, not outward to knock back Suresh.
Synch
It was a sonic blast, I think.
waiheke
i am with the repulsor beam theory too but unlike ironman's it is not mechanical it is organic of some sort so the visual effect was there for us ,the audience, to get what was happening.
DoctorClaude
Looked to me like Sound Manipulation or some form of sonic blast.

Sound Manipulation comes from the mouth, this guy just raised his hand.
Alordo
The sonic wave theory is what I'm going with as well. Too bad it set off the chain reaction.

i can't even find this post.
i thought it kind of reminded me of the girl from fantastic 4. i forget her name but she does the blast thing like that.
DoctorClaude
Touche.

Similar SFX, though.

Indeed.
CharlieNakamura
At first I thought it was just telekinesis, but I agree that due to the special effects it looked like a sonic blast (actually it kinda just looked like he used The Force - lol)
yukilordoflemons
in the graphic novels, a woman had the power of Forcefield Projection. That's probably it...

You're going off an interpretation. The show's interpretation looks more like Voice Manipulation to me.

Sound manipulation doesn't have to just from the mouth, it's just more convenient that way.

Aside from that, I think it might be sonic blast, might be shockwave manip, might be several things.
Synch

Sound Manipulation is.

Sonic Blasts are not sound manipulation- they are "waves" of pure sound, usually visible, that can be used to attack.
LowerTheBar
I thought it looked like forcefield projection, just from the way it was depicted in Sum Quod Sum. Maybe we're all wrong and it's Microwave whatever. We all just met Luke's grandaddy. laugh.gif

of course, that's what I meant when I put that, I think the ability came from his hand, why raise it if the blast comes from his mouth? I do believe it is Sonic Blast.
Synch
Okay. That makes sense. lol

I think forcefield projection would've prevented Angela and Alice's father from getting shot.
LowerTheBar
It was just a tiny forcefield. Don't you remember Abby just creating a field around her hand and punching Elle with it? He was using it as a weapon, not protection (and we all know you should always use protection, or else you die).

I don't think so, this ability rippled out like the classic Sound Manipulation ability, so I do believe that he is like Avalanche from X-men who can create Sonic Blasts from his hands. If he could create force fields then after he let go of Alice he would of made the force field to protect himself, and in turn he could of protected others.
LowerTheBar
Fine. I'm back to microwaves then. tongue.gif

I really hate to keep on doing this...

but if it was microwaves, wouldn't papa suresh have been burned and killed? Remember what Luke did to that agent? Papa Suresh was knocked backwards onto his butt.
LowerTheBar
lol. Not a direct hit? Set to stun? He totally melted Papa Suresh's clipboard, and it saved his life?
Jumper

Well we would have to check it over again but I don't think so, still it wouldn't hurt to double check.
DoctorClaude
lol, as much as I'd like to say it was Luke's grandaddy, the waves were too powerful. Luke's microwaves didn't have any knockback force. Mr. Shaw's blew Chandra backwards quite a bit.

I still say either sonic boom or sound manipulation, leaning more towards sonic blast.
Jumper
Alrighty go to here and then click on his ability then on that page click on the picture, it does show Mr. Shaw holding out his hand so it is Sonic Blast, though who ever listed the ability labeled it Shockwave Emission:

http://heroeswiki.com/Mr._Shaw

I think there is someone on the Company Tracker map with that ability too...
Zensu14
Although the wiki source could be edited by anyone...

yeah, but the picture holds true doesn't it?
Zensu14
Could be a sound wave. Just leaving it open. I missed that scene because I had looked back at my computer at that moment. Let me get a chance to see it again real quick.

I'm looking at the picture and I think Mr. Shaw's mouth is closed there, as if he was concentrating.
Zensu14
They never said sound manip had to be from the mouth only. It's just more convenient that way.

I dunno, sound manipulation comes from the mouth only, many x-men characters show this. Though Mr. Shaw's ability reminds me of Avalanche from X-men as well, who can knock people back and cause earthquakes, I bet if Mr. Shaw directed his ability to the ground he would of had that whole place shaking.
Zensu14
Well, yeah. Most sound from out bodies emanates from the mouth, so it's easier to portray it that way. lol
Besarien
Acoustic Manipulation? Something like sonar maybe? Dolphins use it to attack- a pod can kill a shark that way.
TeamElle
Reminded me of the Arclight from X-3. The effect even looked similar. What was her ability again? Shockwaves or something...
mrmichaelt
I think the only way to settle this is...just sent an email to CBR for next week's Behind the Eclipse.

I was thinking Havok personally. Alex Summers in answer to OP's question.
theronkinator
I tohught it was like a sonic boom shockwave type effect.
Saviour
Personally, I thought it was a lightning bolt or some kind of electrical based ability.
Sayonara
Force push
Raekon
What he did can be also called a Force Bolt.

These are attacks that someone with a Force Field power can create so instead of shielding someone they can also create a force field inside of someone to kill the person from the inside or just throw a force bolt to push them back.

Arclights power is Shockwaves and from the looks of the fx it could had been a form of a shockwave aswell but I would rather say it was a force bolt.

Havocs power was plasma beams/bolts/rings what he were throwing which could had also been the case.
However, out of all these 3 powers only the force bolt would knock someone back in that manner. ohmy.gif
