Anyone else notice the blatant reference to Ghostbusters in this episode.

When Chandra is conducting a test on Angela, asking her to predict the picture on a card which is hidden to her, I thought was very similar to the scene near the beginning of Ghostbusters, where Venkman is carrying out similar tests on students. The exact same card with three wavy vertical lines also appears.

This particularly pleased me, as Ghostbusters is my favourite film of all time!! smile.gif

I didn't catch that at the time, but yes, I do remember that scene vividly.

As a person born in the early 80's who spent many a day home "sick" Ghostbusters is a mainstay. As well as Quantum Leap, Northern Exposure, and of course Last Action Hero.

Anyway, I believe there was more than one test subject, and electrocution was involved when a wrong answer was given. They are called Zener Cards which were created in the 1930's, though the triangle is an exception to them, and I suspect would be in addition to the normal cards as a way of increasing the difficulty statistically. It is a way of proving that someone who may be familiar with Zener cards would be unable to ever guess the triangle because they wouldn't know it was in there.

I also thought of Ghostbusters, thank you for reminding me!

Actually, I thought it was a Star Wars reference, when little Anakin has to guess pictures as well. But maybe that already was a Ghostbusters reference! laugh.gif

Despite my huuuuuuuuuuuge Ghostbusters love, I didn't make the reference, as I was familiar with the experiment aside from Ghostbusters. I thought nothing of it than "Oh, they're testing for psychic abilities". laugh.gif

Note to self: Chuckle next time, because you won't be able to forget the GB reference.

I remember sitting with my friend and re-watching the part where Venkman shocks the guy's gum out of his mouth like a million times. We couldn't breath we were laughing so hard. It would have been funny if Chandra had used that.
