Full Version: What language was that chart in on Chandra's wall?

If you look carefully in the "1961" episode (I'll try and grab a screenshot later) there is an "eye chart" or some kind of poster in a strange language hanging on one of the walls in Chandra's lab there in Building 68 there in Coyote Sands.

It doesn't really look like Sanskrit or Indian. And if it was Indian, WHY was it? How many other Indians were there besides Chandra? Shouldn't it all be in English? This was America in 1961 after all and we only talked and read English back then.

It was "Building 26 LAB". Sorry, I'm a lil OCD whistling.gif .

Oh yeah yeah...guess I'm probably alittle dyslexic then. I remembered there was at least a "6" in there somewhere...

Still want to know what the point of that prop was though. You don't spend the time and money preparing something that specific for no purpose.

They could just as easily slapped a generic calendar or chart up there if it was just some piece of set design that didn't refer to something deeper.

Maybe it's the alien language of the group that came here and first seeded these powers into humans?

That's a way out there theory, especially since the writers' (or at least Fuller) have said they're trying to stay away from being too 'sci-fi'. It was probably just random, unimportant jibberish in my opinion.

OK...here's a couple shots showing what I'm talking about.

Doesn't look like any language I'm familiar with. Maybe it's "Dharma-speak"?

Kind of looks Cyrillic or Runic...

Wonder what it means? What power could they be for? Translation or maybe an eye chart for druids?

It does look a little like runes, in particular the second line. Personally tho I think it is Tamil, which is a language common in Northern India as well as Bombay/Mumbai which is where Chandra said he was from originally. I couldn't translate it for you tho, sorry sad.gif
