I like how Matt resisted the idea of turning Sylar into Nathan until Angela baited him by mentioning his son. To me, Matt was one of the smarter characters this volume, even though I"m still a little iffy on the whole "straight back to Janice" thing.

There's a thread in the previous episode's section discussing Janice and Daphne.
As for what Matt did, it's interesting. It's the thing he will "regret forever" as was said regarding this episode and the flow into Volume 5.

Meh...Daphne was his rebound girl with the added bonus incentive of his visions. He's always loved Janice and he's always been a family man.

It'll definitely be an issue when Angela and Noah start bring Nathan to him for a little psychological "therapy"

I can really see that happening. everytime "nathan" sees flashes of sylar and brings it up, you know where angela's talking him

matt is from the rene zelwegger school of acting where you scrunch up your face and grunt and squint like you are dooting or something ...it's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ...karloff is not fit to eat my ..wait lemme stay on topic.to me, matt has many issues so i wouldn't say he is smart in this case.

Matt is smart because he knew that it wasn't right to force Sylar into thinking that he's Nathan. Angela goaded him into doing it by using his already established fears of harm coming to his son.

Don't worry. If the writing continues to follow the the same cycle as the previous three seasons, this change won't last very long. I'm thinking 2-3 episodes max.

After watching this episode with my roommate, he brought up a very good point. Why did it have to be Matt Parkman that "brainwashes" Sylar(I like that Brainwashes, Sylar + Brains). Let's see if I can make better sense. Keeping secrets in the Petrelli family is a really bad thing, and it later ends up hurting them, so why didn't Mama Petrelli break it to Peter that Nathan was dead and that she needed him(Peter) to use the powers that he'd obtained from Sylar and shapeshift to take on Nathan Petrelli's traights for a little while, resolve what Nathan had started, and then stage Senator Petrelli's death bringing closure to the rest of the world? Ideas anyone?

They needed to keep Sylar's existence alive... somehow, someway.
They could have easily given Nathan a couple drops of Claire's blood, or what you said... but Sylar has a large following (if not the biggest) in this show. Now Volume five we'll just have to keep on the edge of our seats for as long it'll take Nathan to discover he is really Sylar.
If Sylar dies... it'll be because the show is canceled..

I think it's because mama petrelli wanted nathan back so badly that she would have done anything, even if it wasn't really him.

Maybe it will turn out that Angela's dreams are planted by some evil overlord, like Anakin's dreams of his mother and wife by Palpatine in Star Wars. You know, the one that's worse than Sylar and Maury and Adam and Arthur and... Or maybe Angela's just pure evil herself and expresses it through her subconscious as an excuse, like House in that vastly superior episode that aired just before this drivel. As for HRG, he should have kept the watch. Maybe that whole "face of evil" thing from the first season wasn't so far off, after all.

Perhaps she really is like the evil Mrs. Iselin from "The Manchurian Candidate" and absolutely needs to have a presidential connection, even at the expense of her own family. She didn't miss Nathan; she missed his potential power and then realized she could have it anyway.
I've lost any respect I had left for HRG, and as for Matt the enabler, he truly has become his father now - he's to Angela what Maury was to Arthur (and Adam before that).
Matt, why didn't you "save" Nathan by calling Claire to get some of her blood?

I think Parkman was right and the whole "change Sylar into Nathan" thing is the worst idea ever. Also, how did they get Sylars body? Peter had it, and should have finished him right there so that there was no way he could come back. He didn't, so I'd think then that the government would have taken him since they must have let Peter do the whole posing as the president thing. But somehow HRG and Angela have him and come up with this genius plan. Doesn't he still have all his powers? And of course now Angela knows that he is starting to remember already...
It would have been better for HRG to call up the Haitian and have him completely wipe out all the Sylar memories for good rather than take such a huge and obvious risk. How do they know Sylar isn't just faking it and now has Parkman's power too? He was supposed to be heavily tranq'd but he just suddenly woke up.

lol yeah this episode ended quite ridiculously. if they really wanted to go that route, they should've brought the haitian into it and stated that nathan was dead for too long (or some kind of believable reason) for claire's blood not to work. i mean i like the idea, it's pretty effed up how twisted it is, but i feel like they could've executed it better. oh well, it was a better finale than "Villians" and if anything volume 5 will be VERY interesting.
did anyone else laugh when Matt used his "psychic paper"?! hahaha

Yeah, it was really rational for Matt to not want to make Sylar think he's Nathan. The points he made about it never being Nathan, and it being wrong were pretty spot on. But Angela told him it was necessary to stop Building 26, which Matt wanted done so his son would be safe, and Angela even played the whole "only chance to have her son back" card. How twisted. This decision will probably haunt Matt for a while.
