This is a theme the show deals with a lot. Did anyone stop to think that maybe Nathan KNEW he was going to die? In every future timeline he was either dead already or killed. I'm sure Peter told him about these encounters. And what he was learning from his mother, that the future is inevitable in a way, maybe he just knew his time had come and that he had to face it to save everyone.

So if the future is inevitable why didn't New York go kaboom? Why wasn't the virus released? Why wasn't Washington D.C. blown sky high?
These writers can't be keep their own rules on time travel straight.

What I meant was that you can make the future take a different track. But you'll still get a similar outcome. At this point, 5YG is still a possibility, minus the explosion. The real Nathan Petrelli is dead, and Sylar is impersonating him. Same outcome. It took a different course to get to a similar end.

I agree with this. Things can be tweaked and changed, but somethings are inveitable: Daphne dies by the blast, Daphne gets shot, Nathan dies in multiple ways, Nathan dies. What I do find interesting is in the two "future" eps if Sylar is bad, Peter is good and if Sylar is "good" aka Waffledad then Peter is "bad" (to the point at least where is killed by Claire).

the main theme hasn't changed really.
the government knows of specials now.
people will learn to fear specials
sylar is still around and he is nathan
he can shapeshift (now physically instead of illusion)
Technically things we don't know.
In 5YG how do we know the whole S2 virus didn't play out just like it did when we watched it?
Was the company working for the US or was just Matt and the Haitian?

Well, If Nylar runs for president then I'll be happy with it.
As for the explosion, I really want to know if it's inevitable or not, three nuclear style explosions have already been foretold and all avoided.

And, like I said, it's completely plausable that Nathan knew this was his fate, and faced it with courage to save the ones he loved.

i really think they should make a nuclear explosion happen and keep it.
Maybe make it an accident from someone like Ted that couldn't control it. This would lead to the mass hysteria of fearing specials. Hence the Supers to get "Redemption"

While I am still very upset about Nathan's death, I'm curious to see how Sylar handles this dual personality. He's taken on the memories, and therefore, feelings and in effect, become Nathan Petrelli. But, how will he feel when he starts to remember double? How about remembering killing Nathan, and then going to see the president, only to wake up as the man he just slaughtered? I think that will be quite interesting. Maybe Sylar's brain will explode and we can finally mourn the loss of Nathan Petrelli properly.
