So is Syar going to reappear once Matt hears a Fire Alarm? lol

Im only half serious with that comment, but theres a little bit of truth behind it. When Matt used his power on the guards at Building 26 to keep Danko\HRG contained it only lasted until he lost his concentration. He did the same thing with the guards as he did with Sylar. Matt used his power to go into Sylars head and make him believe that "You are Natha, Sylar is dead. " With the Guards he just did the same thing and had them believe "Im the good guy, keep those bad guys in that room".

So obviously this goes to show that Matt's ability is not like the Haitian's ability. We saw that once a fire alarm was pulled Matt was distracted and the Guards returned to normal. So is this going to happen to Sylar? While for the most part (in my opinion) its just inconsistant writing, but could this be part of the reason Sylar comes back?

If this isnt poor writing what is the reason? Why is it that Sylar (super powerful and smart) doesnt require the same level of concentration to keep the act up?

The reason is that what Matt did to the guards is different from what Matt did to Sylar. He *quickly* took control of the guards and made them puppets essentially. That's different from the intense and lasting whammy he put on Sylar. Remember Arthur Petrelli had telepathy too (this is a fact). And he made Angela forget things with it. Things she forgot until Linderman healed her. So in the show there *clearly* is precedent for a telepath creating lasting effects in someone without concentrating on it at all times.

The reason Sylar is going to come back is because 1) Matt probably didn't erase Sylar, just suppressed him and 2) Sylar can regenerate, and we know that healers can remember things that even the Haitian wiped out (see Peter in Season 2).

I dont see how its different with the guards. Matt didnt use them like a puppet he did what he always does. He planted an idea in their head. He didnt sit there and activly act as a puppet master and control them. He planted the idea and moved on. No different then Matt planting the idea in Sylars head.

Arthur had lots of powers and we never saw him make Angela forget anything, we only heard about it after the fact. Also, Arthur was a walking plot blackhole lol.
