niki and DL were practically the only characters that didint really have a baring on the actual story. they where only apart of there own little story, they didint even know about Lindermans plans of blowing up new york, they didint know he had a power or that others who worked for him had powers. they didint know half of the other characters, and they didint even know sylar was and that ****** me off. the only indication niki got of other peeople with powers was when she fuaght candis and met matt the second time. what the hell, through out season one and 2, niki was distorted from the main plot line. nevermind season 2 as that doesint count (im sure you all know why). i mean come on, thats the thing that really brought down season one an inch, and that was that there story had know baring on the actual plot, they where practicaly icolated. they met a few characters but that was only when they where on there own mission which niki and DL had know ideal about. there only connection to the main story was there knowledge of linderman and even that, they didint really know about.

they where really the only main characters that didint know about the explosion of new york or the plans =behind it, they didint know who sylar was or hiro the time traveler, the fact nathan could fly, not that that was really needed info, or Claire and the wehole save the cheerleader save the world thing. they didint know any of that other than other characters involvment with linderman and there own involvment with linderman and linderman kidnapping of michae which they didint even know why he kidnapped michae. there story was just so icolated from the others that they seemed only to be time wasters.

another thing, sylar didint even know who linderman was, I feel it is important for all the main characters to know that linderman was the one behind the explosion and was the one minipulating events to fafeel the explosion of new york. and also, i dont even think HRG even knew Linderman is behind the explosion, those are details that every MAIN character should know since its a manger part of the story.

I can understand where you're coming from but Niki/DL was a subplot/backstory introduced way before their connection to the main plot was clear.

The final connections were:
1. Niki was connected to the Company as a product of the non-powered triplets being given powers by Dr. Zimmerman (so her story began even before she met DL).

2. Linderman's breeding plan coupled Niki and DL to produce Micah. Linderman needed Micah later to fix the election.

It doesn't have to be clear from the outset that a subplot is connected to the main plot. I find it great to have the reveal way down the line.

As far as their own story being relevant, well, it's nice to have some real life backstory before all hell breaks loose. Matt's story with his unfaithful wife was also not related to the bomb but provides a characater building link to the real world.

Why? What possible bearing on Sylar's story could it have?

When you're telling a story with such a large cast, there will be crucial elements that not all of them will know. Peter knows things Nathan didn't. Niki/Jessica knew things DL didn't. Angela knew a ton that the other characters were clueless about.

The point was always to have it mirror real life to a degree- and in real life, not everyone has all the crucial data.
