Ugh. Saw his tweet first, and was curious, so I clicked. Stopped it as soon as he opened his mouth! glare.gif So, no thanks - not worth it to sit through it to me.

I mean, no offense to those who totally adore the guy and anything and everything he does and will drop everything to RT and promote whatever new stuff ZQ shares, or to those who do have different tolerances or definitions of entertainment and have sat through the vid and truly enjoyed it, but for me, it's not enough to think it's cool just 'cuz ZQ's in it or promotin' it.

Although, yes, by respondin' in this thread, I may have brought the topic back up for more discussion. rolleyes.gif

Yes I am one of those people, but I promise I won't throw rotten fruit at you. cool.gif I love the guy, but I don't blindly enjoy everything he does just because he is the one doing it. I got past that in high school. laugh.gif

I am kind of between the fence actually because while I found it clever and funny and I love that he is taking chances, but OTOH, I kept thinking why would a guy as intelligent as Zach throw out something purely for shock value when he really doesn't have to? The excessive swearing for me took away from his intelligence. Maybe that was the point..I don't know. But there is enough of a poorly behaved girl in me to giggle like a an idiot everytime he says drops an F-Bomb. wacko.gif
Gamistar
To be honest, just thought it was funny. I watched it via a link from a heroes website but I would have still liked it if it'd been another actor. <aybe more so, cause I just kept seeing sylar as that and finding it weird...

Hero & shangrila72 you're entitled to your opinions but I think you're being a little niave.

I don't like F-Bombs either, but what do you think a guy holding up a store would realistically say?

Zach was so realistic as a bandit that the cops were called TWICE during filming on Sunset Blvd.

BTW on the poster for the film and when I posted the link I informed you it was rated "R". "R" means rough language & sexual situations.

I guess you guys never watched the Godfather or the Sopranos or any other show on HBO where "F-Bombs" fell like rain which is part of the joke of ZQ's film!

The reality of street language is often going to intrude in subjects having to do with crime--even a light/romantic comedy.
HERΟ
Rebel,

If ya read my post, I said that I first clicked on the link from ZQ's tweet, not from this thread which was made a while later. I was catchin' up on tweets and didn't see any poster beforehand. So I didn't know what the story was about.

So think before ya post. wink.gif rolleyes.gif

It was definitely part of the joke, but everyone has different versions of humor etc.. there are many things in this video and even the Buddy and Andy video that you can look into as a double meaning and make you think..

If you have ever seen Zach in an interview you can tell that he does not use that language often, even when he can and is very thoughtful etc...

One of my favorite lines was when the kids were running around and he asks "where do they get this from" and she goes "those video games" the absurdity is... it is from the parents!

I found it pretty humorous and out there, in a way it is like Zach is just trying to distance himself from certain roles and showing his range as an actor etc... and one cannot fault him for that.

Also, he puts himself out there in more ways then one, some of it is shot in his own home, which for someone so private seems pretty big to me.

Ummmm...I'm naive because I said it wasn't my cup of tea? Ok then.

Seriously; I do not need to be educated on the artistic process or the realistic nature of the whole thing...I get it. I didn't enjoy the blatant shock value.

He would be dropping f-bombs like hamster turds. We can agree on this.

Hey! Guess what? I read the news too...in fact it was me that made a post in regard to this at the end of July when it happened. I said absolutely nothing about how good he was or how convincing he was. If you got that from reading my post than it is you who is naive.

QUOTE

I was aware of it going in. I knew of the language and sexual situations...I didn't say I was shocked.

No, but thanks for playing! I have watched the entire Godfather saga numerous times and I loved The Sopranos. If you actually read my post correctly I only said that he is taking a chance in making a film like this. Perhaps I did not convey my real concern which is that with him being an up-and-commer he is getting recognition. The public and entertainment media will likely look at it for what it is which is a well crafted and well acted short film. But they could just as easilly look at it shaking their heads saying "I don't get it." I want Zach to be successful and as I said in my post this sometimes means going against the grain.

Again, you are preaching to the chior. I don't necessairly mind the f-bombs. I can swallow them if they are used to create a realistic plot setting. What I said was that they were excessive and purely for shock value which can be a turn-off.

And you do not have to sell me on ZQ's acting. I am a huge fan. But I do not feel I am doing him a service if I enjoy everything he does just because it is Zachs work. I am a human being with my own likes and dislikes.

BTW he knows he is taking a risk and it could be a disaster; and I can gaurantee Zach does not care...he is a true artist and has to express himself as he needs to. This is one reason I am a fan because is not a cookie-cutter actor and pushes himself to take chances.

So I am not naive; just not a fan of shock culture. Period.

shangrila72ila

I think you're getting unnecessarily upset.

I didn't say you were "niave" because you didn't find Zach's video to be "your cup of tea", but because it was realistic for a criminal to drop a landslide of "f-bombs".

The language is used to the point of absurdity. Many people, depending where they live, and depending what they're watching no longer find "f-bombs" all that shocking. I don't think it was done purely for shock value but to propel the absurdity of the situation.

But I accept that you do.

If the cops were called twice Zach, must've been pretty realistic as a robber. His language, no doubt, was part of that realism.

Also the Zach & the cops story was all over the net. I didn't read it on the 9th.

I mean, it was really well acted, really well made. It wasn't a waste of my time. But I didn't crack a smile or anything. It isn't to say it wasn't enjoyable, I just didn't find it that funny. Like at all. It wasn't that fantasic of an idea, and it was sort of like "Yes. We get it. Gun to her head. This is gunna be a long one, just for the payoff. Uhhuh." I mean I am so on the fense because on one side it WAS perfect in how awful it was. That whole him shooting her at the end just makes your gut turn laugh.gif

On the other hand yeah. Like I said. Everyone in it perfectly acted. But as someone who watches many videos on the interweb and what not, it wasn't anything new. If Zach wasn't in it and I was feeling particularly ADD I might have just minimized it and forgot.

But I like that he did it. It is cool when celebs do little colabs like this.

I'm pretty sure someone called the cops because he was waving a gun around in a store. But I suppose the yelling may have helped.

But yeah, mainly that whole gun thing.
FMYBella
I don't know if the meaning is this deep but they say when you see a gun in Act 1 it has to go off in Act 3 smile.gif and it did..

From E! Online

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/marc_malki...un-in_with.html

"When someone saw Zach hold up a real gun and scream, 'This is a ****** hold up!' they called the police," Bundt owner Chrysta Wilson tells us.

And get this, the cops were called a second time during another take of the same scene.

Wilson said she's not surprised the make-believe drama appeared to be real...

"Zachary is scary as hell," she says. "I was in the back, making batter, and he was running through the script. All I could hear was, 'Nobody f--king move!' He plays evil very well."

Quinto and director Hank Nelken realized they better tone things down if they wanted to get their work done.

"They knew if the cops were called again, the set was going to be shut down," Wilson says. "They were whispering their lines in the alley. They knew they had to nail it on the last take."

Of course he is going to be dropping f-bombs. I have no issue with that. I just didn't find it humorous.

Humor is subjective. You enjoy it and I respect that. Leek, Hero and I while we found it well done and Zach's acting was pitch perfect we did not find it to our liking.

So how about if we all agree to disagree and move on? laugh.gif

I somehow suspect that if all Zach held up was his index finger and shouting as he did, people would still be in fear and have called the cops. Not in fear of a robbery but of a crazy person. wink.gif

Zach is a sweetie IRL but damn he plays crazy good smile.gif

I don't blame the person for stating he would play a bad guy well, she may not have realized he was on Heroes... I wonder if those who are familiar only with him as Spock will be disappointed if they tune in and watch him on Heroes which is undeniably NOT a Spock type character.

I also once thought to myself, especially after Vol 4. and the Swat Outfit "Zach would be good on 24..." then I realized blush.gif unsure.gif he was already on it...
