HERΟ
Don't know when exactly Ausiello got this info from the show creator, but here ya go (source of excerpt):
QUOTE
Question: I know HEROES hasn’t exactly been stellar for the past two years, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any fans who are dying to get whatever information they can about the new season! Give it another chance, man! —Michael K.
Ausiello:
You don’t have to tell me that the show still has fans. If only because series creator Tim Kring recently did just that. In spite of creative wobbliness and ratings dips, “I’m not sure that our fate is in jeopardy,” he said. “People are watching our show in so many different ways on so many platforms. We’re among the [most] DVR’d shows on TV last season and we were NBC’s No. 1 drama last season in the key demos.”

Question: Wondering if this season of HEROES will be the last. Any insight? —Gail
Ausiello:
Not just any but Tim Kring’s. He says that although the upcoming Redemption volume could serve as the show’s swan song, he doesn’t intend for it to. In fact, he adds that “we’ve never really posited an ending… [because] it’s never been one long serialized story. Each volume has a beginning, middle and end. So we try to wrap things up pretty neatly each time and string a cliffhanger over the break to reward the loyal viewers.”
Would almost unfounded overconfidence sound better in this case? Like, what if he said, "I'm totally POSITIVE that our fate isn't in jeopardy!"?

Wouldn't that sound better, like he actually has faith in what everyone is busy puttin' together for the fans? Or, has he hyped the previous seasons/volumes so much about bein' reboots or that HEROES is returning to its roots that made it great, that he's now just more low-key about the show's success?!?

It seems like he's talkin' with a more resigned attitude that, "yeah HEROES is great, and this shouldn't be the last season, however, if it is, we can bring closure and tie things all up nice and neat-like with no problems". Don't know if that's only my interpretation or not, but if that's what it seems to you, is that the right attitude? unsure.gif

I just look at it as they aren't sure what's going to happen to ratings this season, so they're taking a wait and see approach to it, but leaning toward the idea that the ratings will be fine and the show will continue. But they're ready, just in case the worst happens, and they can wrap it all up if they really have to.

Intending it not to be the last season is a poor choice of words.

Yeah, this is what I see as well. The ratings are going to be fine and will increase to a better condition. Everyone is excited for this season. There was a poll on this particular issue in General Discussion and a good majority know that this is not the last season. There are going to be many more seasons of Heroes; probably 7 or 8 seasons.
