Mission 1 - The other REBEL

IC: REBEL/Micah Sanders

REBEL furiously typed on his computer, his hands flying over the keys. He had just discovered another "REBEL". An impostor. He sent a message to this so-called "REBEL" and searched their recent activity.

Who are you? - REBEL

Impossible. The other "REBEL" had already sent numerous messages to the other factions. REBEL opened one up, while waiting for the other "REBEL" to respond.

There's a traitor in your faction. Eliminate him/her. - REBEL

His heart pounded. The other "REBEL" was trying to turn the faction members against one another. The other "REBEL" responded, increasing REBEL's fear.

I'm you. If you warn the factions now, they'll never believe that I'm the fake REBEL. How does it feel to be able to do nothing? - REBEL

They'll figure it out. Why are you doing this? - REBEL

Why else? To give them a Test of Trust. Or else they'll kill each other. - REBEL

Harvey looked at the message on his phone: There's a traitor in your faction. Eliminate him/her. - REBEL. He had been getting messages from REBEL for awhile. REBEL had been the one who had tipped him off about Danko's kill team paing him a visit. He had also asked Harvey to hide other evolved humans--a request that Harvey had flatly denied. He was out to save his own skin, not give away his position by letting other evolved humans do something stupid and advertise their presence to the world.

But this message seemed a little strange. REBEL had always been about saving evolved humans--not killing them. And Harvey was one of the newest members of StreetLife. How was he supposed to find a traitor. In fact, for all he knew, REBEL could have been talking about him--he had never been one for upholding loyalty to any organization, no matter how noble. Harvey decided to check the IP address. The other messages had had no IP address--they seemed to come from nowhere. But if there was even a possibility of betrayal, Harvey would check.

Just like the other messages, there was no IP address. So either he was dealing with an impossibly good impostor (even Harvey couldn't make his IP address dissappear, just alter or hide it) or it was the real REBEL. And Occham's Razor suggested the second.

Harvey was faced with two questions--who the impostor was, and why REBEL had chosen him, a person who had never helped him before to eliminate them.

Gabriel leaned against the exterior of an abandoned club, toying with his flip phone. He was waiting for another message from REBEL. His cell phone suddenly buzzed, making him jump.

"Gabriel, there are agents near you. RUN!" - REBEL

Gabriel frowned. REBEL never used names. He shook it off. He had to warn the other evolved humans whether or not they were his faction or not. They all had the same enemy. Gabriel walked off, glancing over his shoulder.

Keff sat at the chambers of his desk, studying a recent case file, when his cell phone suddenly buzzed with a new message.

There's a traitor in your faction. Eliminate him/her. - REBEL

"A traitor," Keff thought... "Why am I going to eliminate him when I can just change his mind? But more importantly, who is this traitor?"

Keff typed back a text to Rebel: "Who is this traitor? And what did he/she do?"

IC: Harvey Jeffries

Harvey stepped from the StreetLife HQ onto the street. He needed some time to think things over. He thought of the sixteen members of StreetLife. He felt he could immedietly eliminate Meng--she had started the faction, and there was NO WAY that she was going to betray it. However, as for the rest of the members, Harvey couldn't possibly decide which was the traitor. He didn't even know how REBEL had come by this information. If REBEL would just send him a bit more information, maybe he could do something. Killing people wasn't a passion of his, unlike that psychopath Sylar, but he was willing to kill somebody if it meant he himself would live.

He decided to message uncanny474. He had no idea who he was, except that he loved superpowers, hated the government, and had an abundance of money, power, and friends. However, he was the one person Harvey felt he could trust, because uncanny474 had gotten him out of several sticky situations before. He had also led Harvey to StreetLife, which had been one of the greatest steps foreward, in Harvey's opinion, of his life. Ever since he had killed his girlfriend, Harvey had been on the run, trusting no one. Even when uncanny474 contacted him, Harvey had been somewhat alone, with no physical friends. But he needed human contact, which was why uncanny474 had directed him to the StreetLife faction.

I've been told by REBEL that somebody in StreetLife is a traitor. He/she gave me no details or hints. Do you have any leads/advice? I'd love to hear it. ~Harvey

Harvey thought once again on the strangeness of the message. It was totally out of character for REBEL. At first, Harvey had been sure that REBEL was Hana Gitelman, a woman with the power of Technopathy that he had been in contact with prior to the disbanding of Primatech. But both REBEL and uncanny474 had confirmed that Hana Gitelman was dead, and that REBEL was someone different.

Harvey looked up from his phone just in time to see a young man rushing towards him, looking over his shoulder. Harvey, out of reflex, stopped the man in mid-stride. The man had no acceleration, except for what Harvey was using to counter his velocity. For the stranger, it would have been like being in a car that had jerked to a stop. Harvey unbuttoned the small pouch in which he carried his ball berings and palmed a few, just in case. He then released the man. He hoped the person in front of him would just shake it off and walk away, but one never could predict the actions of regular people. In fact, one couldn't even predict the actions of anybody.

"Okay, buddy, it may be in your best interests to just walk away. I may look like a weakling, but I have hidden powers that I'd rather not use," he said, warning the guy off.

Gabriel felt like he had just crashed his car into a tree when he nearly bumped into a man in front of him. He fell over, hitting the pavement at an angle. Gabriel reacted in time to stop himself from cracking his head on the cement and looked up at the man who was addressing him. Something clicked in his mind. It was one of the various StreetLife members. Gabriel wasn't sure which one but he had to warn him of the nearby agents, possibly pursuing them by the moment. He stood up, hearing the man speak.

"Okay, buddy, it may be in your best interests to just walk away. I may look like a weakling, but I have hidden powers that I'd rather not use,"

Gabriel frowned and said in a slightly French-toned accent, "Oh, I'm sorry. Wasn't looking where I was going." He saw the phone in the man's hand, displaying one of REBEL's messages. Gabriel held up his own phone, showing the warning message about the agents, also from REBEL, "Seem similar?"

REBEL sat at his computer, jumping when he received note of a text being sent to the fake "REBEL". He bolted up in his seat, trying to intercept the message in time. "No!" he yelled when a message popped up, but he was unable to do anything. He got it now. The other "REBEL" was showing him how he replied. And how the faction members took the message oh-so-ever casually. It was a message from Keff of The Group.

Who is this traitor? And what did he/she do?

REBEL watched in horror as the impostor "REBEL" replied, typing ever letter so confidently.

The traitor is unknown. All that is known is somebody in your faction is trying to give information to the other factions. You have to stop them. PERMANENTLY. - REBEL

"REBEL" sent the message back to Keff and went on sending another message to REBEL himself.

How did you enjoy the show? - REBEL

He couldn't respond. He wouldn't. The other "REBEL" was trying to torture him mentally. By deceiving the factions, the other "REBEL" was going to create a war where nobody would trust each other. Another message popped up. It outlined almost exactly what REBEL was thinking.

Harvey saw the message. It was from REBEL, warning the man in front of him of agents, which meant one of two things--either this man was an evolved human, or he was an agent disguised as an evolved human. The message couldn't verify (by itself) either hypothesis--it could have been a real message from REBEL, sent to an evolved human, that agents had captured and the date/time of which had been sliced to make it look like it look recent. The only way Harvey could get any more confirmation than he already had was from uncanny474 or REBEL--and he trusted the former more than the latter.

Before he could say anything, his cell phone beeped. He checked it.

I haven't heard anything of the sort. Are you sure REBEL said that? It doesn't make any sense. ~uncanny474

Hmmm, he thought, so uncanny474 hasn't heard anything. Well, this complicates things. I guess I'll have to conduct an investigation of my own. And, if this guy is trustworthy, maybe he can help.

Harvey surrepticiously took a picture of the man in front of him with his cell phone. He sent it to uncanny474, along with this message:

Yeah, he/she told me to eliminate them. I ran into a guy. He's either an agent or an evolved hero. His pic is attached. If he's legit, he's in communication with REBEL, and may prove to be useful in my investigation. Can you confirm his trustworthiness? ~Harvey

IC: Luna Yu

Luna walked along the sidewalk quickly, swiftly moving past each person she came across, trying not to attract any unwanted attention, her face hidden from view with a hood. Remnant agents of Building 26 could be anywhere on the streets, and her guard always had to be raised should she ever encounter one of them again.

Luna almost jumped slightly when she felt the vibration of her cell phone in her jacket pocket. After what had happened with the agents from Building 26, Luna tried to keep a very low profile and only a few people knew of ways to contact her. The person trying to contact her was most likely...

Rebel. Luna thought to herself as she quietly pulled the phone out of her pocket and read the message displayed on the screen: There's a traitor in your faction. Eliminate him/her. - REBEL The message brought a wave of mixed feelings, it took a few seconds for Luna to fully absorb the meaning behind the message. Her first response was despair; the past few weeks of her life had been relatively secure and safe from danger, but her second response was a slight excitement. Laying low also had the disadvantage of being monotonous and boring, it had been a long time since Luna had given her abilities a good use.

Casually stepping aside, Luna looked around quickly to see if anyone had been following her.

"Tell me where I can find this traitor and I will go and deal with the problem." Luna typed the message, and hit the button to reply to the sender.

Impatiently waiting for Rebel's response, Luna's hearing caught something familiar muttered from a distance. A name. Gabriel. A man her age and a slightly older man stood talking to each other. The younger looking man was someone she recognized from one of the meetings with the Undaunted, the faction of specials she was a part of. However, she didn't recognize the other man, he was someone she hadn't ever seen before.

Rebel's message echoed itself in Luna's mind as she observed the two men speaking. Rebel's messages were often unusually well-timed, and she had a hunch the two had something to do with it. Stuffing her phone back into her jacket, Luna blended back in with the crowd as she moved in closer to Gabriel and the other unknown man.

REBEL officially despised the other "REBEL" now. "First he lies to the factions, now he locked me out of my computer!" he yelled, swearing under his breath. His computer screen was being linked to the other "REBEL's" screen, showing him everything the impostor did. A message arrived from Luna.

"Tell me where I can find this traitor and I will go and deal with the problem."

Words slowly formed on the reply to Luna.

The traitor is excessively moving around. An ability involving transportation is suspected to be involved. Either that or the traitor is messing with my tracker. - REBEL

REBEL scoffed, "Messing with his tracker my foot." He felt an anger rise up in him, "You liar! They'll never believe you! Do you hear me? NEVER!" Another message popped up.

Oh, yes, they will. You've gained their trust for me. Now, I'm your substitution. - REBEL

He stared at the screen in shock. While recovering, yet another message came, this time from Keff.

"Our faction is in the information giving business. So I think there may have been some misunderstanding. What was witnessed that makes you think my faction has a traitor?"

REBEL smiled at Keff's response. Some of them were hard to get to.

Luna smirked a little at the message, the traitor didn't seem like anyone she couldn't handle by herself. Nobody could escape her, and nobody could catch her. Putting her phone away, she caught one of the men glancing at her, and noticed that he was holding something small in his hands in a suspicious manner. The man said something quietly to the other man, trying not to speak loud enough for Luna to hear him.

Concentrating just enough to give herself a slight burst of speed, Luna quickly appeared next to one of the two men. "I heard what you said." Luna quietly spoke to the suspicious-looking man she didn't recognize. "A little bird named Rebel told me something about a traitor, and I have a feeling you both have something to say about that?"

Before either men could say a word, Luna brought a single finger to her lips as if telling them to be quiet. "I wouldn't do anything hasty if I were you... we're in a public place here." Luna said as a little sparkle of red energy crackled across the finger, hinting that she wasn't as defenseless as she seemed.

"I'd like to have a room for the night. Two beds. Name is Wesley. I'm Joey, and this is my daughter, Celia." The lie came easily to him--this was not his first flight from government forces.

They were given a room. Harvey took the girl up. He sat on the filthy bed.

"Sorry for the rapidity. More agents would have come, and that would have been bad for both of us. As for killing the agents there, I didn't have the time to knock them out. Luna sat herself on the other bed opposite to Harvey, noticing how dirty the sheets were. Hopefully they didn't have to stay in this hotel room for very long. She found it difficult to remain sitting still as the adrenaline flooding her veins kept her restless, and she decided to pace around the room while Harvey remained sitting on the bed.

"You're not a trusting guy, huh, that makes two of us." Luna said with a slight smile as she looked out the window of the hotel room. "One day, we're living our lives like any average person, and the next day we're being hunted down like animals. Amazing how all that changes how we look at other people." Luna paused for a moment and sighed as she realized how her thoughts drifted off so easily. It was too easy to let out all of her bottled-in thoughts to someone she felt some trust in, letting everything out felt like a temporary release from the constant paranoia in her mind. For once, she felt safe with someone else, and it was a strange feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time.

"Well, I guess you'd like to know a little about me." Luna said with a shrug as she leaned her head back on the wall behind her, staring up at the ceiling. "What's there to know? My name is Luna, I used to live in Canada before this whole mess started, I'm just some freak being chased by the United States Homeland Security like I'm a terrorist or something. I've been running away for so long I don't even really know who I am anymore." Luna was about to talk about her past life, back when everything was normal, but something held her back. It all didn't seem real to her anymore; her life history seemed like something of the past, a mere fairytale that had no connection with her.

"By the way, you said something about serial killer? Why would Homeland Security work with a serial killer?" Luna asked Harvey as her thoughts came back to Harvey's words earlier.

Harvey thought for a minute. He assembled his knowledge of Sylar, Danko, Homeland Security, and the government in general.

He decided best how to sum up his knowledge and guesses. "I don't know why anyone would work with a serial killer, Luna. But I can make some guesses.

"The first thing you've got to know is the history of this particular serial killer. Before the government attacked us, there was a paper company doing basically the same thing. They sent men in suits after us--both regular humans and evolved humans, like you and me. A friend of mine named Hana Gitelman showed me their website, and gave me the information needed to hack in. Inside, I found profiles on many people. One of them was Sylar. Hana had told me a little about him, and I figured out the rest from his file. He is a serial killer who murders evolved humans by cutting open their skulls with telekinesis. However, he didn't originally have TK--his power is Intuitive Aptitude; the ability to understand things. Like powers. He can, by looking at your brain, figure out how your power works and duplicate it. He killed many, many evolved humans, and the paper company spent most of their time trying--and occasionally succeeding--to capture him. He and they fought for years, until their headquarters burned down in a freak accident, which I believe was caused by one of the evolved humans they were keeping captured.

"The Company captured evolved humans to keep them from hurting the weaklings without powers. Homeland Security just wanted to kill them. Their leader, Danko, hated evolved humans for reasons he wasn't willing to share. It seems only natural that he would recruit a serial killer whose killed only evolved humans. To him it must have been perfect, like a bomb that only killed his enemies. The two of them tried to do what the Company could not--capture me. They broke into my apartment and tried to shoot me with stunners. I stopped them, but one of the agents came in. He shapeshifted into Sylar and tried to cut open my head. I managed to escape--I'm still not sure how--and I've been in hiding ever since."

Harvey looked around the dingy room. He saw the dim clock flashing "12:00" intermittantly. He swore under his breath--he hadn't remembered to check the time when they had arrived. He would just have to guesstimate two hours. His cell phone was no use--he had set it to Irish time when he was in Ireland, and hadn't gotten the free time to change it back.

"Do you have the time, Luna? I've got to know so that I can figure out when we need to head back."

"Do you have the time, Luna? I've got to know so that I can figure out when we need to head back."

Luna pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and glanced at the time on the display. "We have a little less than an hour* until we're meeting Gabriel. It's amazing how quickly time seems to pass when you don't have agents chasing after you." Luna continued looked outside the window, something that had become purely reflexive whenever she entered a room or building. Harvey's explanation of the serial killer working with Homeland Security continued to run through her mind as her eyes scoured the streets for signs of any more agents.

"So every agent that we find, any one of them could be this Sylar in disguise." Luna absentmindedly said as she looked out the window. "As if I thought things were bad enough... And you're right about one thing for sure, he is a bomb. Using a power-hungry serial killer to hunt down people like us would help Danko out... but for how long? There can be only so many abilities to take in the world, and once Sylar decides he doesn't work for Danko anymore, what then? How do you stop someone like him?"

"I don't know if he can be stopped. I've heard rumors, and seen some stuff with my own eyes. I threw him through a wall, and the next day he was hopping around like nothing happened. That would have broken a normal person's spine. And, although we have powers, we're no tougher than a regular person, with a few exceptions. I've heard he can heal from injuries almost instantly, and my experience seems to back up that claim. I didn't think you could kill a self-healer, but apparently Sylar found a way to do the impossible.

"Sometimes, at night, I wake up shooting ball berings across the room. In my waking dreams, I remember one thing; Sylar, trying to cut me open. The man gives me nightmares. And I don't scare easily."

Harvey paced around the room, jingling a bag of ball berings. He didn't expect trouble, but it was always a good idea to be prepared.

Gabriel swore intensely as he got the cue that REBEL wouldn't be replying. The "cue" was the fact that the agent just broke down his door. "Damn it!" he yelled, diving behind the couch. The agent, apparently, had a taser and a good aim, too. Gabriel felt a wave of excruciating pain rocket through his body as the taser connected with his shoulder. He instantly passed out, not even getting a glimpse of his attacker's face.

But his companions escaped." "We don't need his companions, Agent Riley." Agent Riley mentally disagreed but kept silent, squirming a bit. The man noticed this, "There something you want to say?" "Uh...I disagree, sir. The French-boy's companions might find out what you're...doing. They might come after you." The man pondered this for a moment, "Fine. If you want, go after the companions. But remember, no casualties." "Yes, sir." Agent Riley responded, showing himself out.

He looked around as if to find where the voice was coming from, "Who are you? Why am I here?!" The man chuckled, "You are here because I have a use for you. As for my name, others refer to me as Sirk." Gabriel took this information in then burst out, "Whatever evil thing you want me to do, the answer is no. Heck no!" The man shook his head, laughing slightly. He suddenly swirled around and started punching Gabriel in the stomach. The French-boy screamed in agony, blood all ready seeping through his shirt. Harvey walked out of the hotel, grabbed Luna, and flew off to Gabriel's address. He landed, and instantly knew that something was wrong. The door was open. It looked like it had been forced. There were signs of a struggle, and Harvey knew that he had been captured.

"You may want to stay outside. If the agents considered Gabriel enough of a threat, the scene inside will NOT be pretty. Besides, you can guard the front door."

He walked inside and looked around. He didn't see any blood, which meant they had probably captured Gabriel, not killed him. He pulled out several ball berings just in case the agents knew that Gabriel was in contact with other evolved humans. He didn't want to be ambushed.

Sirk stood on the rooftop, watching the French-boy's companions. He smiled at how they were oblivious to his presence. Sirk had taken the time to get himself over to Gabriel's house, just in time to see Gabriel's companions enter the house. He decided to introduce himself to Harvey and Luna, remembering their names from reading the files he had on them. After all, nobody knew he was the fake "REBEL". But before he approached them, Sirk remembered that the French-boy had dropped his phone in the struggle and Agent Riley was in a hurry and hadn't picked it up. "Time to play some tricks." he said, grinning and pulling out his phone. There was a message on the screen from Gabriel, received an hour ago.

There is an agent after me! He is outside my apartment (6023 Aquirla Drive). Help me get him to go away? ~~ Gabriel

Sirk typed back a response for Gabriel’s companions. But he didn’t directly respond to the message, he changed a few words to lead them on the wrong track about Gabriel.

I have you on video footage stealing resources from Undaunted, Gabriel. You’re a traitor! They’ll find out about you soon enough. – REBEL

Another message popped up, this time from Keff.

Okay, send me the video of what you saw. Otherwise, I have nothing to work with.

Sirk swore and decided to send a video he had downloaded of an illegal smuggling operation he had
watched a few weeks ago. He edited the video to focus on a figure dressed completely in black and
covered with a balaclava. The figure, soon after, got into a fight with another one of the smugglers, this one dressed in gray. The black-dressed figure had blood coming out of his stomach and fled the scene. Sirk attached the video to the following message.

The black-dressed figure had bled. Afterward, I tested the blood. It showed up with several matches in your faction. The weird part was SEVERAL matches. – REBEL

After sending the messages, Sirk climbed down the fire escape and walked across the street to Harvey and Luna. “Hello, there. Uh…I was in the store right over there,” he said, pointing at the store, “and I noticed that you were looking in this apartment. Is there a reason why?” He faked confusion into his voice, carefully.

"Affirmative." He texted back.

Keff then buzzed for his clerk and asked her to come in to his room. His clerk was also an African woman, but she was a bit older than him.

QUOTE (uncanny474 @ Oct 29 2009, 05:58 AM) *
"Maybe you can help me find my friend."

Sirk evilly grinned, "Yeah. I can help you." He quickly flicked his hand at a nearby lamp post, sending it crashing into Gabriel's house. He took tow giant steps back and pulled out a gun from his front pocket. Sirk fired two bullets into the sky, causing passing bystanders to scream frantically and sprint away. As if on signal, a black SUV swerved up to where Sirk was, nearly crashing into him. Sirk's hand was out and had stopped the SUV with his ability, leaving a dent in the front bumper. He waved his hand again and the driver's door was ripped out. Slowly exiting the vehicle was..Gabriel. Except there was a difference to him, being the fact that he had a dark, evil look in his eyes and he was dressed in dark black. Sirk evilly grinned again and told Harvey and Luna, "Oh, the great things brainwashing can do." He handed his gun to Gabriel, along with simple instructions, "Keep them alive."

Harvey smiled. The man probably didn't know it, but Harvey had had extensive training in stopping bullets. Gabriel couldn't do more than make him break a sweat.

He decided to neutralize the true threat first. That idiot who thought a gun could defeat Harvey Jeffries.

"Stay back. I've got this." He tossed a warning to Luna, hoping that she would heed his advice. If she didn't, it wasn't his fault. He was here to keep himself alive, not compensate for others' stupidity.

Harvey pulled out a double handful of ball berings and fired them at the evil man. He realized the folly of this--the man could probably just drive away--but he couldn't retract the balls to him; they were out of range of his ability. So he fired another double handful at the man's truck. He opened up another pouch--the one on his belt was empty--and began just firing and firing, hoping that the plethora of small, steel balls would make up for the lack of individual accuracy. He aimed for the truck, attempting to disable it before the man got away. He could chase down anyone on foot, but he wasn't sure about being able to chase down a car--especially if he was trying not to kill Gabriel. Which he was. For now.

Sirk quickly tracked the ball bearings and allowed them to hit the SUV. He cared more about the ball bearings head towards him. He held his hand out and with difficulty, caught them in his hand. The bearings were extremely hard because of the force put behind them, causing Sirk to stumble back a few feet. He tossed the ball bearings down on the ground and let both of his hands float in the air. After a few moments, a 5-foot-long pipe materialized in his hands. He swung the pipe around, fancily, and settled into a Muay Thai pose. Beside him, the brainwashed Gabriel loaded his gun and targeted Harvey.

Luna narrowly dodged the incoming lamp post the man sent flying in her and Harvey's direction. This man had an ability of some sort, but she couldn't quite tell what it was. As she took a quick deep breath to prepare herself, her mind automatically reacted to the danger by charging her body with fiery red glowing kinetic energy. The man had a gun with him as well, but it didn't concern her very much. She was a living bullet herself, after all.

However, before she could move to attack the hostile man, Harvey warned her to stay back. Seeing what Harvey was planning as he took hold of a bunch of ball bearings in his hand, Luna reluctantly stood her ground when she noticed a black SUV nearby. Someone was exiting the vehicle, someone familiar..Gabriel! Luna recognized the person, but she was shocked when the man seemed to recognize Gabriel as well, calmly speaking to him while handing him a gun. Why is Gabriel working with him? Luna thought, as her nervousness and survival instinct caused the red energy to begin crackling over her body and limbs. As the blood began to rush through her head, she could almost hear her own heart thumping in her chest. Everything here was horribly wrong: Gabriel was 'captured', the encounter with the suspicious man with an ability, and Gabriel apparently turning against them?

Harvey then fired his ball bearings towards the man, however they were stopped in the air by the man's ability. I hope that wasn't Harvey's only trick... Luna thought to herself as she began to debate whether or not to listen to Harvey's warning to stay back from the confrontation.

Seeing the man materialize a metal pipe out of thin air and swinging it like a weapon and Gabriel starting to target Harvey with the gun in his hand, Luna knew that the time for standing around was over and she had to act quickly before things went too dangerous. The red energy around her body suddenly sparked brightly as she blindly ran directly into the man with the pipe, her shoulder smacking into the man's chest. As she felt the man stumble back slightly, Luna closed her eyes and concentrated with all her will, the kinetic energy sending the man flying against the nearby wall.

Quickly recovering herself, Luna whirled around towards Gabriel as kinetic energy began to spark and crackle in her hands. Raising a hand, she sent a strong bolt of kinetic energy towards Gabriel's arm as was only moments away from pulling the trigger. The energy wasn't strong enough to harm Gabriel, but it would have been enough to knock his aim away from Harvey.

Harvey prepared to defend himself. He saw the man stop his ball berings in midair and strike some sort of pose. He looked like he was going to use karate. And then there was Gabriel, of course.

Harvey was fine with fighting a telekinetic--except that this man wasn't a telekinetic. He had made a long steel pole appear out of thin air. Telekinetics couldn't do that--unless he had perfect mastery, which Harvey doubted. The way he brandished the pole made Harvey remember Ray Park's exhibition of lightsaber prowess in Star Wars Episode I. Great, he thought, it's ninja Magneto.

Harvey cast about for a weapon. From the metallic nature of the strange man's attacks, he guessed that the man's power had something to do with metal, and wasn't simply invulnerability. Harvey found some nearby gravel. He accelerated it into the air, and held it for a second. It floated, stopped by his mastery of his abilities.

He saw Gabriel about to shoot, and prepared to defend himself from the bullet, but at the last second Luna hit him with some sort of red lightning attack that threw off his aim. Harvey had the opening he needed.

He gathered his strength and accelerated the gravel to supersonic speeds. A sonic boom shook everything around him as the gravel sped at speeds upward of Mach 10 towards his foe. Harvey grinned. He was anxious to see the man avoid that.

She found herself too disgusted to face Harvey anymore.
