MISSION ONE - THE CHARIOTS
Location: Unknown, night time
IC: Rebel (Micah Sanders)

Rebel typed in an e-mail to his loyal factions on his laptop, "Hello, loyal factions... my team and I are otherwise occupied, but I have recently stumbled upon an old Primatech file that describes a treasure hidden by someone named Adam Monroe. According to Primatech, Adam had multiple children and wanted to leave some of his most prized possessions to them. So there's likely some priceless treasures waiting to be found that could be valuable. But what is of most interest to me is that the file states that some of Adam's blood was likely hidden with these treasures. According to the file, Adam's blood allowed him to live for centuries, and it has remarkable healing properties, so it could be extremely valuable to the medical community or to any of our members hurt in the field.

So if you're interested in any of this, the file also told me where the first clue is and I will provide as much help as I can. Go to the city of Cairo, Egypt... then, outside the airport, look for one of several taxi drivers dressed in Roman soldier costumes. Tell one of them "the apple will fall", and he should reply "with the meekest wind"... Then, ride in his taxi... he should take you where you need to go. Now hurry, your chariot awaits!--REBEL"

Samuel stepped out from Lydia's trailer, then turned towards Edgar, who was leaning against a tree about a block away.

"Edgar!" Samuel called out, then waited as Edgar zoomed towards him and came to a stop a couple feet away.

"What is it now?" Edgar asked.

"I've a new mission for you."

"But I'm still a bit worn out from the last mission."

"You keep saying that... We're all a bit tired," Samuel countered. "But I again require your unique skills, and it's critical that you begin this mission right away."

Edgar nodded and listened.

"We ran into a man named Adam Monroe a while back, and he loaned from us a certain artifact that will be useful for us to have again." Samuel handed Edgar a photo, which Edgar looked at and stuffed in his pocket.

"It doesn't look like much to me," Edgar said.

"That's kind of why it's so useful. In any case, Lydia's latest prediction tells me this artifact and likely other treasures Adam had acquired before his death are going to be turning up soon. Do what you can to secure the artifact for us. If you acquire other treasures, great, but this is all that we will need."

"Splendid. I always wanted in on a treasure hunt! So where am I to go for this thing?" Edgar asked.

"C.A.I. Cairo International Airport." Samuel answered. "That's all the prediction told us. When you arrive, be on the look out for these people." He handed Edgar a paper with sketches of Casey, Harvey, Michael, and Luna. "They will also be seeking Adam's treasures, and may or may not want the artifact we seek."

"Okay," Edgar replied, folding the paper and stuffing it in his pocket with the picture. He then sped off into the distance.

"Farewell, my friend..." Samuel remarked after Edgar was gone.

IC: Harvey Jeffries

Harvey slowly lowered himself to the ground. The flight from the StreetLife HQ in Jacksonville had really taken it out of him. His clothes were ragged, dirty, and sweaty. He fit in perfectly with the rest of the tourists coming from the airplane.

Rebel had given StreetLife a message: that a great reward awaited them if they went to Cairo. They sent Harvey to check out the veracity of this claim, mostly because Harvey didn't need a plane to fly. So, here he was, sitting in the Cario airport, hoping nobody else had gotten here first. He got up and walked out the door, looking for the correct taxi.

Perhaps he would get lucky, and REBEL would have sent that message to him alone.

And maybe the treasure of Adam Monroe would just fall out of the sky.

Casey saw the text and went to his closet.

Cairo, Egypt would require a few special items. He packed his back pack, and slung it over his shoulder. He walked to the wall in his apartment with multiple photos. He looked specifically for the one showing a girl sitting on a bench just outside of the Cairo International Airport. Focused on his ability and teleported to the area.

Casey placed his sunglasses on, and watched as the people continued to walk to their destinations.

"Now for the Taxi and the Roman driver." he muttered as he walked to the front of the building. He looked and saw multiple taxi drivers in roman outfits.

"Just my luck, now I need to look for the guy." he said in an annoyed voice.

He walked to them and kept muttering the same phrase, "The apple will fall..." but few even looked at him, the others just gave him a look of questioning.

Casey continued in hopes of finding the needed taxi driver.

Michael was walking down the busy streets of New York. He was just walking about the city headed to Central Park. His phone had started to buzz. He looked at his cellphone, it seemed some one had texted him.

He looked at the message title it showed RE:Rebel in the bar. "I wonder who forwarded this better, send it to the faction boss man." He forwarded the text to him. He responded a minute after Well this looks pleasing and it looks like you have to catch a plane to Egypt Mirror.

"Well this was going to be a simple day walking around. Oh well I always wanted to go to Egypt though."

As he gets out of the plane at his gate he looks around. After a long flight and sitting next to annoying tourist, he was ready to get room at a hotel and sleep the rest of the day away. He went over to luggage claim grabbing is small bag. After checking in with the receptionist at the airport she asked, "Are you here for business or pleasure?"

Edgar sped across the Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans to Egypt, then south along the Nile River to Cairo. He then sped through downtown, grabbing a newspaper from a street stand, and finally reaching the airport.

When he arrived, he saw several people dressed as Roman soldiers standing nearing some taxis, and if that wasn't odd enough, they were ignoring requests to take people anywhere as if they were waiting for someone special to exit the airport. They all looked Arabic to him. There was a heavyset man with a beard and mustache, a thin man that was shaking nervously, a strong-muscled man that waved to everyone passing by, a man with a wave-like tattoo on one cheek of his face, and another man with gold-colored boots. They all wore big red capes, plastic breastplates, togas, belts, and centurion-type helmets, and they carried what appeared to be sheathed swords on their right side.

Edgar thought something was definitely up with those cab drivers, but they weren't his mission. So he waited by the main entrance for the people on Samuel's sketch to come passing by so he could follow them. After a few minutes, he finally spotted one of them leaving the terminal. It was the white male with blue eyes and long, greasy black hair. Edgar quickly sat down on a nearby bench, opening his newspaper in front of him so he would not be spotted, yet leaving it down enough so he could still see this man with both eyes.

The five taxi drivers Edgar had spotted were all dressed in Roman gear, and looking like male soldiers. When Casey went by them, chanting "The apple will fall...", they all looked at him curiously, wondering which one of them he was addressing. Finally, when Casey reached the last driver, he got a response. The driver with gold-colored boots stepped forward, grabbed Casey by the arm, and said in a sweet womanly voice, "with the meekest wind..." The driver then opened the door of the taxi to Casey. When the driver turned to open the door, Casey could now tell this driver had long black hair tied up, which made the helmet the driver was wearing stick up a bit in the back.

Luna's ears were still ringing after the plane's descent after it arrived at the airport. Flying on a plane was not something she found particularly enjoyable, being confined to a limited space for hours on end. Picking up her single suitcase of luggage, Luna sifted through the pockets of her jacket to bring out a pair of sunglasses which she put on. There were many other people at the airport, and any of them could be dangerous.

She was here because of another message sent by the faceless person named Rebel, instructions to retrieve a sample of blood with regenerative properties. The blood wasn't of any personal interest, but she didn't want to run the risk of the blood ending up in the wrong hands. Besides, the mission seemed like an opportunity for an exciting adventure, something Luna had been looking forward to for a long time.

Exiting the airport building to the pickup area, Luna spotted the taxi driver dressed in a Roman soldier costume, just like Rebel had said. "What were the magic words again? Something about an apple." Luna whispered to herself as she searched her memory for the words she was to say to the driver.

"I hope you know what your doing... Cause where I'm from all the taxi drivers are crazy." Casey said, having entered the taxi, closing the door behind him.

However, the Roman-dressed driver with gold-colored boots just ignored Casey's comments, walked around and got in the driver's seat. The front of the cab was separated from the back by a glass plate with electronic voice box that allowed the driver and passenger to communicate.

"Names Casey and yours?" Casey asked, but the driver didn't respond right away. Switching gears to drive, the doors automatically locked. Then, the taxi pulled away from the curb, and the driver touched some controls on the dashboard and the windows shut and the air conditioning came on. There were several vents in the back and Casey could feel the air begin to blow on him. The driver then removed the helmet being worn, allowing black flowing hair to be released onto the driver's back. Reaching a red traffic light a mile or so down the road, the driver turned momentarily to face Casey, and said in a somewhat cold voice, "The name's Takiyah... and I'm just following Rebel's instructions."

Casey could now see that this was clearly an attractive Arabic lady, not a guy, and was looking him clearly in the eyes. He began to feel slightly euphoric for some reason, and he sensed what smelled like a pleasant perfume. Takiyah turned back to face the front of the car, and when the light turned green, continued driving the cab, and headed at a decent pace onto a road out of the city.

Harvey stepped off the curve into the street. He had seen the taxi with the roman driver and the man who had arrived and tested REBEL's message drive away. They probably thought they could just sneak off without anyone noticing.

Harvey floated into the air and began following them. He had a feeling that this guy was after Adam Monroe's treasure, too, and he just couldn't allow that. And the fewer people were looking, the better. He unbuttoned the pouch in which he always kept his ball berings and took a few into his hand. He would wait until the car reached its destination, then kill the passanger and get the information out of the driver. A simple enough plan, but with much that could go wrong.

Harvey had to make sure "much" turned into "nothing".

"Sorry, I don't have answers for all those questions. And the ones I do know, Rebel told me not to answer." Takiyah glanced at her gas gage, happy she still had a full tank, then spoke up again. They then left Casey alone in the room, and Edgar came in and took a seat in one of the chairs next to the stretcher. "So who are you?" Edgar said to himself, not expecting Casey to answer.

Just then, Casey's cell phone buzzed with a text message. Edgar heard the noise, and pulled it off Casey's person and opened it. The message seemed to be from someone named Rebel and it read:

"Sorry, Casey, but you were supposed to take one of the male drivers. Anyways, now that I know you are you, let me explain why I've taken these extra precautions. Someone seems to be intercepting my messages recently, including the message I sent you about the treasure. This person has been forwarding it to people of the sort we don't want looking for it. "She might of helped me more than harmed me. Wow this sea is beautiful so crystal clear that I can see my own reflection in it." He looked at his reflection and focused on the window of the cab he was in.

He looked over to the English gentle man, "Hi nice meeting you have to go and take care of some business" He touched his hand to the water and teleported. Back to the cab but stayed in the mirror. "Still driving I see. Let's see were she takes me. From the looks of it the Sahara."

Rayya took a desert road from the pier and circled around Cairo, avoiding the evening traffic. While driving, she glanced into the rear-view mirror and thought she saw her former passenger inside it. She just shook off the image as if it wasn't there, and concentrated on getting to her destination. "I'll soon be able to get out of this ridiculous costume," she thought.

Eventually, she arrived at a garage with over a dozen other taxi cabs and parked her car inside. The drivers had all left for the night, but the garage was lit brightly while the mechanic worked on another car.

Rayya opened the door, preparing to leave for the night and walk home. She then remembered the mirror, and called out to the mechanic. "Butrus, you better check out the rear-view mirror of my cab when you get the chance..."

"The mirror?" Butrus asked. "Okay, I'll be sure to take a look at it."

Harvey saw the cab swerve off the road. The passenger, who was unconscious, was uncerimoniously dumped on the side of the road. Harvey recorded it all with his camera phone. The thought had occurred to him that if everyone worked together they would all have a better chance of finding the treasure. And the passenger would want to know what had happened to him.

The driver bundled the passenger back into the backseat and set off. Harvey followed, and they ended up at a hospital. Thinking quickly, Harvey picked up a piece of gravel off the ground and proceeded to slice his hand open by accelerating the rock along it. He then proceeded to smear blood all over his already disgusting clothes--the flight to Cairo hadn't been a picnic--and walk inside. He said to the receptionist that he had been in a car accident with the passenger, and he wanted to see if they were okay. He said that he had been pushed out of the car when the passenger realized that the driver wasn't stopping at their hotel, and that he had barely gotten away before the driver of the taxi they had shared had knocked the passenger out.

With this lie, Harvey gained access to the passenger's room. He saw several doctors hovering over the passenger's prone form. He noticed that one had a very odd hairstyle--in fact, it looked downright familiar. Before Harvey could place the unique styling, the man ran off--at an incredible speed--after looking at the text message. Harvey realized that this man had super speed--such evolved humans were called "speedsters" by the community at large. Harvey walked into the room and sat, waiting for the passenger to wake up. While he waited, he looked at the text message.

I have reason to believe this person is some sort of shapeshifter, so be careful. You will need to go back to the airport and find the correct driver, which shouldn't be too tough for you. I'm counting on your continued help.--REBEL"

Harvey realized several things at this point--that there were evil evolved humans looking for the treasure, that the passenger's name was Casey, that he was not evil. The fact that Harvey shouldn't trust any shapeshifters wasn't exactly a secret, but it was useful.

Harvey sat back down and waited for Casey to wake up.

Casey heard something and he tried to comprehend but everything seemed to be mumbled. As Casey opened his eyes he saw a few doctors coming and going from the room.

"What the hell..." He managed to mutter as he tried to get to an upright position. He noticed a man sitting in the room. Seemingly waiting for him.

"Here I thought New York City taxi drivers were the worst." He muttered out loud as he grabbed his phone laying on his stomach. 'Odd...' he thought to himself.

He grabbed his phone and closed it, looking at the man sitting in his room.

"I'm guessing you want to talk." Casey said as he got off the bed and stood, grabbing his jacket and bag from beside the bed. "Or are you just here for the view?"

Harvey smiled. The kid had a sense of humor.

"Yeah, I'm here to talk. The name's Harvey. Harvey Jeffries. I think you have a gift that, while not exactly the same as mine, may be somewhat similar."

Harvey pulled out three ball berings and rotated them above his head. It was somewhat difficult, requiring a constant acceleration and deceleration, as well as a lack of downward acceleration, but it definetly had an effect.

"I got a message from REBEL about some guy called Adam Monroe. From what I've heard, he was connected with Primatech. Apparently he had some sort of treasure. I think you got the same message. I propose a team-up. Two people are better than one, and I'm sure there's enough loot for the both of us."

"So, I don't know what your power is, but I think I can fly us both to the taxis, unless you have a better means of transportation." Harvey wrote down his cell phone number and email. "Here's my contact info so that we can compare notes once REBEL gives us another clue. Whaddya say?"

Casey saw Harvey write on a card and hand it to him. Casey simply raised his right eyebrow as he opened his cellphone. The message from Rebel was still on the screen. Casey read it and then looked at Harvey.

'Possible shapeshifter...' he recalled as he looked at Harvey. If he was a shapeshifter...

"So you want to team up? Yeah sure I don't mind." Casey replied as he reached for Harvey's card and instead grabbed his hand. Casey concentrated for a bit, but nothing happened. Harvey just gave him a look.

"Sorry, had to check. There's been a leak of information." Casey stated as he kept his hold on his hand. His ability of genetic manipulation was giving him a wealth of information regarding Harvey's genetic code.

"You're ability deals with energy... am I right?" Casey asked as he let him go and grabbed the card. "The team up is a good idea. Most of the treasure I wouldn't mind you having, but the vial of Monroe's Blood is mine. At least until I'm done with it."

Casey grabbed the phone and entered a code in. "His ability was well known and having genetic material from which to reference it..." Casey could already see the possibilities.

He turned to Harvey. "Got everything with you?" he asked as he grabbed Harvey by the shoulder and teleported back to the corner hidden from view on the side of the airport.

He could tell Harvey was a bit disoriented by the jump and knew what he was going to ask, "You get used to it after a while."

Might as well answer the question before they ask.

Michael was stantid in the mirror seeing where he would be taken. From time to time he had thought Rayya had seen him a few times. She eventually came to her destination. It was the taxi garage with dozens of other taxi cabs. Michael thought, "Well I should concentrate. I saw the mirror of another cab that took off. Just have to find it."

As he was concentrated on another departed taxi, Rayya had grown suspicious of the mirror.

"Crap, I have to locate that other taxi quick." He was trying to locate the other taxi as the man approached to check the mirror. Rayya had stepped out the garage. Michael poped out of the mirror. "Hello what's up. Just need to to take a breath before I jump back in."

He disappeared as fast as he had appeared. Butrus looked at the mirror only to find that nothing was there. Michael had teleported to any taxi in motion he could recognize from the airport earlier. This time he was in the back side passenger window. He could see a girl in the back that was sleeping. {i]"Definitely the right taxi. Some creepy driver and same situation for the passenger. Before Harvey could say a word regarding his power, Casey had teleported him. Harvey had never been teleported before. It was an unsettling experience, especially for Harvey's stomach.

As soon as they materialized in the Cairo International Airport, Harvey settled his stomach by puking all over the ground. He thought Casey had said something, but couldn't have been sure.

He stood up, feeling much better, and wiped his mouth. "I'd love to talk more, but I really must dash. If you need to contact me, you have my number. Goodbye." He walked towards the cabs, strolled up towards the driver with the wave tattoo, and said "The apple will fall." He would have a lot to think about on the trip--something about Casey had unsettled him.

The two remaining taxi drivers in Roman dress, the man with a wave-like tattoo on his face, and the man that was bulging with muscles stood leaning against their taxis when Casey and Harvey suddenly materialized in the Cairo International Airport lobby.

A minute later, Harvey exited the building and walked up to the man with the wave-like tattoo and said, "The apple will fall." The driver then replied in a mild masculine voice, "with the meekest wind," and opened the door to his cab.

Harvey then pulled a handkerchief from his own pocket as he got in the cab. The driver closed the door to the taxi, rushed around and got in the driver's seat. He placed his helmet on the seat next to him and then started up the cab.

When he pulled it away from the curb, he shut the windows and turned on the air conditioning. Then, glancing in the rear view mirror, he said, "I don't think you're going to need that hanky. My air conditioning works just fine. By the way, I'm Basil and Rebel's having me take you for a long ride so I'll understand if you want to rest back there."

"I have a slight cold," Harvey lied. "I may sneeze, and I'm pretty sure you don't want to catch what I've got. It's a nasty little bugger."

Harvey sat in the cab. He needed some time to think things over. A lot of stuff had happened very quickly.

He was sure--for the most part--that the text from REBEL was genuine. He thought he could trust Casey... for now.

But Casey had been able to figure out his power. He had given him a demonstration, but for Casey to have figured out that it was energy-based and not mental was impossible without outside information. Which meant either an informant or a power related to that sort of thing.

He pulled out his cell phone and texted Met a new evolvie. Name is Casey. He described him. He knew my power was related to energy without any proof of such. Is it a leak, or is his power related to that sort of thing?~Harvey
He sent the message to his patron, uncanny474. Harvey had been friends online with uncanny474 for years. He thought uncanny474's agenda had something to do with wanting powers for himself and seeing other evolved humans as means to that end, but whatever the case, uncanny474 was a steadfast friend and a very reliable and powerful contact. He hadn't let Harvey down to date, and Harvey expected him to find out this information just like every other time.

Harvey mused on the team up. Why had Casey wanted the blood of Adam Monroe? Harvey thought it probably had something to do with his power, but having powerful friends that could modify his DNA wasn't out of the question, either. Harvey hoped that his promise--which he could contend that he hadn't actually made, in a pinch--wouldn't come back to haunt him.

Harvey's phone buzzed: I've heard of him. He's from Texas. Power is really incredible--genetic modification, both of himself and others. Works with Unity faction. Probably read your DNA. Stay safe. ~uncanny474

Harvey texted his thanks. He addressed the driver. "The name's Harvey. It'd ease a few of my fears if you told me your name, and where we're going. I'm not used to trusting strangers, even strangers connected with REBEL."

Casey smiled as he got the needed response. He got in the cab and he waited for the cab driver to begin his route.

Casey pulled out his cell phone and entered a code in. Then began to access the secret memory card within his modified cell phone. It had recorded any audio and video while he had been passed out. The video was mostly useless because it required the camera for it to capture anything. But he hoped at least some audio of what had happened to him would help.

He noticed that the car was moving in a particular direction in a steady speed. "Makin... was it? You don't happen to know why there were women mixed with the men driving taxi's?"

He was only asking out of curiosity, he had an idea of the reason, but he wanted confirmation. That's when he saw it.

He stopped the footage and replayed it again. On his screen for a split second there was a blur. The footage showed only the ceiling when it was covered by a hand and then showed half a hand and then the wall. Then he heard a groan and all of a sudden the phone dropped, but for a split second it caught view of the door and the blur.

Casey rubbed his temples. Maybe it was an effect due to the impact of falling...

'The again, the only other noise is when Harvey came in, and I don't have him recall anyone leaving...

Blurs are usually associated by speedsters. He copied the portion of the footage and sent a text to Rebel.

"REBEL- Although I don't appreciate the joke, I understand the reason. Still I wish there was a simpler way to verify. I met another person who claims is on the same mission as the one you placed for me. Name is Harvey, we teamed up, for now. I'll keep an eye out for any shapeshifters. You know I can deal with them. Like the other cab Casey was in, there was a glass separating the front and back seats.

"Makin... was it? You don't happen to know why there were women mixed with the men driving taxi's?"

Not turning back, Makin grined and replied while continuing to drive down the desert road. "Right, I'm Makin. I saw that you met one of my sisters, Takiyah. Luna eventually passed out from jet lag during the night, but Kadeen kept driving. In fact, he drove all afternoon and all night until they finally reached their destination in the morning, never once stopping for gas. During the night, Kadeen noticed an odd image of a man appear in the rear-view view. He tapped the mirror once, then just ignored it.

At the destination, there was a single camel-drawn chariot on the side of the road, and Kadeen pulled the cab up next to it. He then got out and ate half of a raw cucumber that was in the chariot. Kadeen next opened the back door to his taxi and shook Luna awake, handing her a business card. The card had the taxi company's phone number on it and also his name, Kadeen Demir. He then helped her and her luggage out of his taxi, saying "Your chariot awaits!" Then, Kadeen quickly headed back to his taxi. When Luna looked back at him, Kadeen added, "Sorry, Rebel told me this is as far as I need to go! And I'm a taxi driver, not a chariot driver!" With that, he got in his taxi, slammed his door shut and sped away into the distance.

The camel was a Domedary (one-hump) and attached to the chariot by two wooden beams that were connected via a rope that was also wrapped around the camel's hump. The chariot itself was Ancient Roman-style, like how the taxi drivers were dressed. It was made out of wood, but it seemed to be equipped with a GPS device, and Luna could see some coordinates flashing in the display a few miles away. The chariot was on a somewhat rocky path that led off to somewhere in the distance. Due to there being so much sand, she couldn't see far down the path went but the path itself was illustrated on the GPS and appeared to pass next to the flashing coordinates. Looking around, Luna spotted just sand dunes and a mountain range in the distance towards the southeast. However, the flashing coordinates were nowhere near those mountains.

Along with the GPS, there was a whip, a flask full of water, a half-eaten cucumber, and a note inside the chariot. The note that was stapled to the side of the chariot and read:
"ath'-hab = GO, waqf = STOP, aysar = LEFT, ayman = RIGHT"

This unknown person was forced to stop a couple times for gas in Luxor and Aswan, and both those times he lost sight of the Asian-looking lady's cab. However, since there were not many desert roads, he just stuck with the main road and was able to catch up to her taxi both times. Now, in the morning, he saw the cab park next to some sort of camel-type transport so he parked his black hummer a mile or so away at the bottom of a sand dune off the road. He didn't expect anyone in the taxi to be able to see his vehicle using normal vision due to the vehicle being below eye level. Then, dressed in white robes that blended into the sand, the man got out of his vehicle and peeked over the dune, glancing from a mile or so away. The taxi the lady was in started up again, but left without her and doubled back past his vehicle without seeming to notice it.

Luna suddenly moved with such speed that her movements seemed to be a blur, kicking up a dust of cloud where she last stood. She found herself standing behind the man who had approached her, and before either of them could make another movement, red electrical energy crackled across her hand as she raised it to the back of the man's neck.

"Don't... even... move." Luna instructed slowly as she began to assess the situation. This was someone who arrived unannounced, so it was unlikely he was sent on this mission by Rebel, but at the same time he knew about the mission. But if he was sent by Rebel, why wouldn't he be transported by a taxi just like her? This man obviously had some sort of ability that allowed him to appear in the desert from out of nowhere. Was he a teleporter? Was he invisible in the taxi along with her?

The red crackling energy spread from her hand to her arm as the adrenaline from the shock of the man's sudden arrival viciously pumped through her veins. "I have some questions, and I want them answered. Quickly." Luna said to the man as the red energy began pulsating and sparking with increasing frequency and irregularity. "Who sent you? Why did you follow me, and where the hell did you come out from?" Luna demanded, her pitch gradually climbing, the irritation evident in her voice. Michael was surprised at her reaction. He thought she'd be jumpy, but not this jumpy. He gathered from her actions that she is really mistrusting of people. He decided that he should tell her some of the truth. He had thought, "Wonder what this ability is. Why is she so nervous not like I'm going to hurt her. Maybe steal, but not hurt."

"Wow! Cool it I just wanted a ride with you." He saw the screen of the GPS reflected light so his tone calmed down. "To answer your questions in order, I got a text forwarded from REBEL so I decided to check it out. I followed you because some chick in a cab put me on a boat in the Mediterranean. She was dressed like a Roman. Her taxi had knock out gas. That is why I got in your cab, I thought that it had happened to you too when I saw you sleep in the back seat." After saying all this he took breath. He had to think of what to tell this mysterious woman. So he decided to question her first. "Well Miss I came from New York. More specifically Queens. It wasn't a question you asked, but the name is Michael. I answered all your questions now answer answer mine. He must be some sort of teleporter, or something. Luna thought to herself as she listened to the man's story. He had introduced himself as Michael, and claimed that Rebel had sent him along the same mission Luna was on. The rest of his explanation seemed reasonable except for the part about the taxi with the knockout gas. That meant one of two things: either Rebel wanted to keep Michael away from interfering with this mission or there was another hostile group out there trying to beat her to her goal. As Luna further contemplated the possibilities and the truthfulness of the man's words, Michael continued his explanation.

"...I answered all your questions now answer answer mine. What are you doing here, what is your name, what is your ability I'll tell you mine, and Miss why are you so jumpy? I'm not too sure I can trust you either."

He has some nerve, thinking he's in a position to demand answers from me. Luna thought to herself, but since the man didn't seem openly hostile for the moment, she decided he was harmless and the red electrical aura around her hand and arm began to dissipate. Luna calmly walked back to the chariot where she was standing earlier.

"Okay, Michael, you want some answers too. Alright, fine, I'll give you some." Luna began to answer as she leaned against the side of the chariot. "I've been sent here by Rebel too to go fetch something he considers valuable. I couldn't care any less about it, but I think he's due for some gratitude from yours truly. My name is Luna, and I can move fast, very fast." Luna paused momentarily to lift her right hand in front of her palm up, showing Michael the red electricity crackling across her fingers and palm. "If I wanted to, I could send you flying backwards, also really, really fast. But, I don't think I'll need to do that."

Luna then reached down to pick up her single suitcase by the handle. "You think I don't trust you - you're right, I don't. I don't trust anyone. I don't trust Rebel either, but he's helped me along a couple of times when I needed him most, so I cut him some slack." Luna looked over to the GPS device attached to the inside of the chariot, and reached a hand with her fingers pointed towards it, sending a quick discharge of red kinetic energy to dislodge the device. Picking up the device from the floor of the chariot, Luna looked back towards Michael. Red electrical energy began to crackle across her body, spreading to her arms and legs, and it gradually began to crackle with greater frequency and intensity. "You don't trust me, I sure as hell don't trust you. We're not going to be able to work together, so I guess this is goodbye, Michael."

The red electrical aura around Luna began glowing blindingly bright as Luna started to calmly walk away from Michael. Before Michael could react to her farewell, all that was left of Luna was another billowing cloud of dust and a trail of disturbed sand leading to the mountains ahead.

He thought to himself,"Well, someone is cocky aren't they. She threatens me without knowing my ability. Well I guess I should tell her my ability." Before he could speak she continued.

Luna then reached down to pick up her single suitcase by the handle. "You think I don't trust you - you're right, I don't. I don't trust anyone. He was rubbing his eyes from the brightness of her electricity. "She really should of shut up and listened to me. A headstrong one isn't she." He pondered her personality. "She really wouldn't be good team player with trust issues. Why would she join a faction. Oh well time to follow the leader again." He said to himself aloud.

He looked ahead of him she had gotten a head by a lot. She had a weird tone in her voice. He looked around the desert nothing but cacti and sand. "Time to get to work on following grumpy." He said that to himself nothing of anything else to call this mysterious woman with an attitude. He had saw the of the GPS so he concentrated on the device. Instead of going to the screen he would go to the back of it, the part that the palm of her hand would cover. The GPS was black had a reflective surface, so Michael could still make it to the glossy surface. He figured she would she him on the screen, but not on the back of the GPS. After a minute he was teleportered there unbeknown to her.

He thought, "Looks like we will be working together after all."

Dressed in white robes that blended into the sand, the unknown man peeked over the dune, glancing from a mile or so away at the Asian-looking lady and an unknown man who had appeared behind her. He saw the Asian-lady speed swiftly around him, then later snatch something from the chariot and take off running swiftly into the distance. The man who was with her then seemed to magically disappear. The watcher knew he needed to pursue them, so quickly transformed himself and clothes into a native bird, an African Silverbill, and took off flying.

High up in the air, he was able to follow the Asian-looking girl as she traveled as fast as a cheetah towards the southeast. The girl traveled off the rocky road, through the sand, and towards some mountains. Then, she paused, as if realizing she was going the wrong way and turned the other way. But when she did so, she saw that there was a big sand storm coming that she would need to let pass by. So she sat and waited. Meanwhile, the shapeshifter flew over to the mountains and took some needed rest.

The storm had finally gotten by about noon, and that's when she traveled onward again, back to where she came from and down the rocky path that stretched far to the north. The bird flew high overhead, following her moves.

Reaching the coordinates, the Asian-looking woman finds there is some sort of biomechanical device in the ground that seems to have been dug up by archeologists. However, the archeologists seem to all be laying dead, face-down in the sand with holes inside them as if spikes had been driven through them. There is blood everywhere. The device looks to be some sort of hand scanner, and on the top of it looks to be a broken magnetic compass--the compass isn't pointing north for some reason. Suddenly, the woman's phone buzzes with a text message. When she looks down at her phone to read it, she sees that it says:

"Good, you've reached the coordinates. Don't worry about the dead bodies--the scanner should allow any special use of it.--REBEL"

Harvey eventually passed out from jet lag during the night, but Basil kept driving. In fact, he drove all night and most of the morning until they finally reached their destination at about noon, never once stopping for gas. During the night, Basil had heard a thud on the taxi roof, as if a bird had landed on it. He thought nothing of it, and continued on. Finally, he passed a black hummer in a dune on the side of the road, and continued driving another mile until he came to the destination.

At the destination, there was a single camel-drawn chariot on the side of the road, and Basil pulled the cab up next to it. He then got out and searched for something that was supposed to be in the chariot, but didn't find it. "That's odd, there was supposed to be a cucumber here..." Basil said to himself.

He next opened the back door to his taxi and shook Harvey awake, handing him a business card. The card had the taxi company's phone number on it and also his name, Basil Demir. He then helped him out of his taxi, saying "Your chariot awaits!" Then, Basil quickly headed back to his taxi. When Harvey looked back at him, Basil added, "Sorry, Rebel told me this is as far as I need to go! And I'm a taxi driver, not a chariot driver!" With that, he got in his taxi, slammed his door shut and sped away into the distance.

The camel was a Domedary (one-hump) and was attached to the chariot by two wooden beams that were connected via a rope that was also wrapped around the camel's hump. The chariot itself was Ancient Roman-style, like how the taxi drivers were dressed. It was made out of wood, but it seemed to be equipped with a GPS device, and Harvey could see some coordinates flashing in the display a few miles away. The chariot was on a somewhat rocky path that led off to somewhere in the distance. Due to there being so much sand, he couldn't see far down the path went but the path itself was illustrated on the GPS and appeared to pass next to the flashing coordinates. Looking around, Harvey spotted just sand dunes and a mountain range in the distance towards the southeast. However, the flashing coordinates were nowhere near those mountains.

Along with the GPS, there was a whip, a flask full of water, and a note inside the chariot. The note that was stapled to the side of the chariot read:
"ath'-hab = GO, waqf = STOP, aysar = LEFT, ayman = RIGHT"

Edgar followed his target's cab through the night, until finally he hadn't the strength or will any more to do so. Exhausted, he used one final burst of speed to jump up and onto the roof of the cab he was pursuing. Fortunately, for him, the cab driver paid no attention to the thump he heard land on the roof and didn't stop. While hanging onto bars normally used to hold luggage, Edgar saw some crows flying around in the desert, and figured the driver thought it was one of them. Eventually, he calmed down enough to doze off a few hours.

He woke up mid-morning, still gripping tightly the luggage rack that was on top of the taxi. An hour or two later, he saw a camel-drawn chariot in the distance and felt the taxi slow down. "This must be it," Edgar thought. He jumped off the roof and rolled himself into a nearby sand dune. Then, he sped by the taxi at super speed, examined the chariot, plucked the cucumber from it, and rolled superfast into another dune.

Edgar then peeked over the side of the dune as his target disembarked from the taxi and it sped away. He then took a chomp out of the cucumber, it sounding a bit louder than he intended it to sound. "Oops," Edgar thought.

Harvey looked around, dumbstruck. The driver had dumped him in the middle of nowhere, then sped off without another word. He fumed. At least he wasn't dead yet. He could have been left with no water. He remembered that there was a good reason he disliked REBEL.

Harvey heard a loud chomp from behind a sand dune. He rushed over and activated his power, flinging the sand elsewhere. He made a mental note--sand was easy to move and rather impressive if done right.

A man stood behind the sand dune. He remembered that hairstyle--there had been a man with that exact hair dressed as a doctor at the hospital. And he could have sworn he had seen him at the airport. Something was wrong.

Harvey ripped open the pouch in which he carried his ball berings and pulled out several. He held his hand out at the man. "I know you. You were at the hospital--and the airport. Who are you, and why are you following me?"

In the meantime, he took a picture of the man. He was sure that the strange person didn't notice--he had learned how to distract someone with his hands from a master magician. He knew that what was going on with his right hand would distract the person from his left. He sent the picture to his mentor, uncanny474, saying "I don't know whether to trust this guy. Give me some advice--ASAP. ~Harvey"

His target approached, ripping open a pouch and pulling our several ball bearings. The target then held his hand out at Edgar. "I know you. You were at the hospital--and the airport. Who are you, and why are you following me?"

Edgar focused on the ball bearings being held in the man's hand. If they suddenly moved at him, he'd be ready. Thinking quickly, he remarked, "I'm Edgar... and I'm looking for the treasure Rebel is after. You've been my only lead so far." He briefly held out only the sketch that bore an uncanny resemblance to the target so that man could see it, then stuffed the paper back in his pocket.

"And I think you should trust me... See, I did you a little favor keeping you off the front page news..." Edgar pulled out the digital camera whose display showed his target taking off flying at the Cairo International Airport. "I snatched this off a tourist at the airport." Edgar held out the camera so that the target could see his photo and take the camera, if he wanted it.

Edgar could hear the nearby camel making a loud noise. "Sounds like our friend is getting a little restless... shall we take a ride together, what's your name?"

"I'm not going to be traveling by chariot," Harvey responded, putting away his ball berings. His phone buzzed. No information on subject. Judge for yourself how much you can trust him. I'll keep looking for more info. Stay safe. ~uncanny474

So, Harvey wasn't going to be getting help from uncanny474 on this one. Harvey decided to trust Edgar... for now. Most alliances Harvey had made were fragile, and Harvey had made decisions without uncanny474's advice before.

Harvey took the camera. He deleted the picture of him, then clipped it to his belt. It was higher resolution than his cell phone, and he could trade it for money or services in a pinch. He walked over to the chariot, looking at the GPS attached to the inside. He noticed that there were screws holding it on to the chariot, and these screws made it impossible to rip the thing off with his power. Harvey used his bare hands, tearing the wood. The GPS came free easily. Harvey walked over to Edgar with the prize clutched in his hand.

"Want a ride? I'm much faster than any camel, and you can navigate for me," he held out his arms. "Just put your arms over mine--I'll hold you by the armpits and fly us both there. While we're flying, you can tell me how you came by that interesting portrait. I'm not one for sitting still for paintings."

"Funny," Edgar replied, trying to disguise a fear of heights. "But I don't like flying, and I'm certainly not going to fly with someone who won't even introduce himself."

Edgar ignored the man's question about the sketch, and walked over and stepped up into the chariot. He tossed the strap for the flask full of water around one shoulder and grabbed the whip, guessing the camel would know the way. "So suit yourself. Ha! Go!" Edgar shouted, whipping the camel. But the camel didn't budge.

"What the heck?" He said aloud, then he noticed the note inside the chariot... "Ah, should have known an Arabian camel would only understand Arabic." He looked closely at the note. "Ath hab??" Edgar said, questioningly. Then, the camel took off running, pulling the chariot at a decent pace down the rocky path. He almost fell off, but was able to hang on thanks to his super speed kicking in.

The man who would rather fly was left standing there in a cloud of dust, holding the GPS device. As the dust settled, he saw Edgar travel off into the distance on the chariot, into what appeared to be a nasty sand storm.

"Looks like some others have already been here," Makin said to Casey, who was just waking up. "But this is not my stop."

Driving about another mile, they saw a man standing on the side of the road, glancing into the distance at a nasty sandstorm. But again, Makin didn't stop.

Another mile down the road, they came to where the third camel-drawn chariot was waiting. Makin pulled the cab up next to it, then got out and opened the door to the backseat, so Casey could exit.

When Casey left the cab, Makin handed him a business card. The card had the taxi company's phone number on it and also his name, Makin Demir. "Your chariot awaits!" Makin belted out. Casey had noticed the black hummer as they went on their way. He was still resting his head on the side of the cab, which would make him appear asleep. He heard Makin say they were other people there before him.

"Of course, I took a detour remember..." he muttered as they passed a man on the side of the road. Casey looked at him but his clothes prevented any true features to appear.

Makin pulled over next to a camel-drawn chariot was waiting. Makin pulled the cab up next to it, then got out and opened the door to the backseat, so Casey could exit.

Casey stood there with his back pack looking as Makin drove away. "Hmmm... Nice fellow. Hoped he like the tip I left him." Casey had left a bundle of hundreds for the man. He knew it was a favor to Rebel, but he still took his time to drive him.

Casey looked at the camel. He walked towards the chariot and grabbed the GPS. The coordinates shown a bit of a distance from the area. Casey looked towards the sand dunes where the gps pointed towards.

"I guess that mean just teleporting is out of the question... right?" Casey asked as he turned towards the camel. The camel just looked at him. "Right."

Casey got on the chariot and saw a whip, a whole cucumber, a flask full of water, and a note inside the chariot. The note that was stapled to the side of the chariot read:
"ath'-hab = GO, waqf = STOP, aysar = LEFT, ayman = RIGHT

"Arabic... for the camel?" Casey asked himself. He simply raised an eyebrow and muttered, "Ath-hab." and was surprised to see the Camel begin to move forward. "I guess my buddy here knows the way."

Casey rode for 8 minutes before he began to moan about the slowness of the ride. Casey looked at the chariot. "Well... it is moving..." Casey pondered as he grabbed the edge of the chariot and focused on the whole chariot. He teleported a few hundred feet forward. The camel still walked towards the destination without fretting.

Casey smiled, "This could work." Casey continued to teleport forward with the whole chariot, making sure to keep an eye on the G.P.S. and avoiding any other obstacles.

As long as it moves he could teleport it. Casey smiled at his progress.

Luna breathed a small breath of relief knowing that she had arrived at the correct location. Luna looked around cautiously for any unexpected arrivals, but she saw only desert sand in all directions. Hopefully, Michael wouldn't suddenly appear behind her again. Settling the GPS device and the rest of her belongings onto the ground, Luna looked over to the scanner Rebel was referring to. By the looks of her surroundings, she was the first to arrive on the scene, besides the dead archeologists laying on the ground between her and the device.

This is disgusting. I wonder what happened to these guys... Luna thought, trying to hold in her breath as she stepped over the bodies of the fallen archeologists, which were beginning smell repulsively. Luna came to face the strange device that poked out of the ground. Noticing the gleam of metal on top of the device, Luna saw that it was a little magnetic compass. She picked it up from where it lay and brought it up to her eye and saw that it was broken. "Well, this could be a nice little souvenir I suppose." Luna whispered to nobody in particular as she slipped it into the pocket of her jacket. Turning her attention back to the device, Luna saw that it had a hand scanner of some sort attached to it.

"Here goes nothing," Luna said to herself as she slowly placed her right hand on the scanner of the device, ready for anything to happen.

After traveling a few hundred feet or so, Edgar saw a vast sand storm appear in front of the path he needed to go. "No matter," he thought. His camel had probably been through worse. It just kept pressing on into the storm as if it were nothing.

But once inside the storm, visibility was minimal and Edgar couldn't see much farther than a few feet and had some difficulty breathing. He lowered his body until it was completely in the chariot and he could breathe easier.

Then, several minutes later, he felt a jerk and heard his camel and another camel making a loud, deep boo-ing sound that went on and on. He looked over and saw that his chariot and another had collided side-by-side in the storm. They were in-fact, all going to the same place. But for now, they wouldn't be going anywhere until after the storm passed.

Edgar called out loudly to the other driver, who he couldn't make out through the sand-filled wind. "You okay over there?"
