You can't tell me he hasn't tried to take off since he was created. Maybe now you could say he is confused with all his new powers but he didn't know about them until the season started.

Sylar's dodgy levitation doesn't count a ) it's nothing alike and b ) he's only just worked out he has telekinesis.

Because its very likely Sylar did absorb Nathan's ability to fly. Also Nathan knows there is something wrong with him. That he's suddenly has new powers and his native one of flight isn't working as well as it once did may be all part of the same problem for him.

I think the better question to be asking would be why isn't Peter surprised that Nathan suddenly has telepathy telekinesis?

Edit: Telepathy =/= telekinesis. Durrr hurrr.
GoldSeven
Telekinesis, you mean?

About the original question, the season 3 finale isn't definite on what power Sylar is using when he floats down into the room. I always saw it as flight. Sylar is capable of absorbing abilities empathically. (That's not a word. Dang.) Empathy doesn't necessarily mean being sympathetic, just the ability to understand other people very well. Sylar has always been a good analyst of character, and in the last two episodes, the show has made it very clear that Sylar completely understands Nathan's motives and personality. I don't think it's a stretch to assume Sylathan can fly.

Sylar didn't only have "dodgy levitation." He and Nathan went out a window during the Season III finale and were apparently out there for a good minute or so before the sequence when they return to the room. I think Sylar was flying, plain and simple. In short, "Nathan" can fly.

That or Sylar's innate EM + BECOMING Nathan allowed him to access flying, since he clearly understood Nathan at that point.

Understood him enough to believe he's him, for example.

I said it after an invisible thread and i'll say it agian, listen to the sound effects when sylar lands after throwin nathan in the window its the one for flight and shadowboing proves i was right, he flew as nathan in the normal mannor that nathan has done since S1
