Nathan 2.0 lives, anyway.
Calling himself Nathan, remembering shaking hands and being a politician, doing a quick turn into Nathan when he saw the planes... Nathan's still in there.
And Samuel doesn't know (who he is). Perfect way to get to Peter if he does figure it out.

Very true. I believe there's more hope for a major mental showdown among the various incarnations of Sylar that are floating around and the remnants of Nathan floating around in Sylar's head. We got Matt's Sylar ghost thing along with the Sylar bits that Samuel is trying to bring back, plus the Nathan is Sylar's head.
Looks promising to me. The character of Nathan may yet live on, but Adrian Pasdar might be gone. Who knows?

Not just that 'Nathan' lives, the current mind of the dude running around with amnesia is as far from Sylar as you can be. Take away the twitchy muscle memory power stuff, and the guy did not act like Sylar in any way whatsoever.

Tonight's episode pretty much confirmed to me that "Nathan 2.0" as you call him is gone. I'm sure the show will bring back AP before the end of the season to wrap up the storyline but fake Nathan will be gone soon. The writers are obviously not interested in a "Sylar as Nathan" story. My goodness only after only a couple of episodes of Fake Nathan, we're back to Sylar in control of his body even though he has amnesia. Fans are being cheated out of a "Nathan finds out he's really Sylar" plot with the fake Nathan persona gone and the confused Sylar/Gabriel back in place.

How does it confirm Nathan is gone when every fraction of a memory he gets (without the carnies interference) is that of Nathan? He also doesn't consider himself 'Gabriel' or 'Sylar'. The name he associates with himself is 'Nathan'.
It looks like we're getting a 'Nathan figuring out he's Nathan 2.0' plot instead.

Yes, this confirms that the "Nathan" entity didn't simply blank completely out of existence at the time of his "death." The Zachary Quinto character we have right now is still inwardly closer to Nathan than he is to Sylar, and his little glimpses of memory suggest that what's happened to him mentally really is just trauma-related amnesia- the "Nathan" memories are still probably lurking close to the surface.

Here's my theory: Old Nathan still exists in the physical Sylar's mind to the same extent that old Sylar exist's in Matt's mind. Hence wanting to be called Nathan, holding back from killing the cop.
I'm only basing this on the fact that mental-ghost-Sylar was an unintended side effect, perhaps it went both ways with a mental-ghost-Nathan being transferred into Sylar. Hell, Nathan was still pretty much alive when they did the mind swap so I don't see why a 'ghost' wouldn't be created both ways. Perhaps ghost Sylar can make himself heard due to being in the mind of a telepath

On top of that, the last scene showed him socializing, entertaining, womanizing - it looked like a politician at a dinner party. That kind of charisma was never a part of who Gabriel was. This new persona may have come from the body of Sylar, and may not be truly Nathan, but has lived and experienced true reality in the form of Nathans personality, and since he physically has experienced it - that makes it real, more real than the body's physical memories of what Sylar did. The persona currently in the body now never did those things - and has 2 months of true life memories as Nathan. Nathan is not going down so quietly, mark my words...

Nathan's soul is INSIDE of Sylar.
Its mixed up with Sylar and confused.
If the petrellis (EVIL ANGELA) REALLY love Nathan they should let Nathans soul FREE and let him rest in peace.
this is the most horrible thing ever. Nathans body is dead but his soul is trapped on earth inside a psycho killer...

Is it really "womanizing" when the woman in question is- taking a hint from her boss- making thinly veiled advances towards you within minutes of your meeting? But I digress; certainly the individual we're seeing right now seems much closer personality-wise to an amnesiac Nathan than an amnesiac Sylar.

Exactly my point, it wasn't so much what he was doing, but how he was doing it, and the ease that he was just flowing. The whole vibe of the scene just screamed "Nathan" to me... her motivation is irrelevent, either way they show his reactions..

It's like in Star Trek. Sylar and Nathan's Body and Their Katras (or living spirits) are seperated. Angela had Matt fill Sylar with Nathan's Katra and had Matt hold onto Sylar's. We're seeing the effects of that now. Matt is suffering with Sylar's Katra torturing him, and Sylar, now matter how much they try to fix him, still believes he is Nathan because his Katra is in there.
For further reference, watch Star Trek III. Or Google it or something.

He was? I thought him being dead was
why they did the mind swap.
Anyway it wouldn't surprise me at all if Matt is also a medium and unknowingly hijacked Nathan's ghost from his body and put it inside Sylar's body. They still haven't explained the ghost of Usutu (or where he went).

True; the entire "separate-functioning-consciousness-of-another-person-transferring-into-Matt's-head" business seems difficult to explain unless there is some sort of spirit/protoplasmic essence of a person in the Heroes universe to which Matt's power may give him access.
