Full Version: Is Heroes Fanbase Predonimately Female?

Sometimes i wonder, if heroes is becoming predominately female fan based? Maybe it's me, but i see more women tweet about it than guys. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but sometimes i just want to tweet or message a guy, and get his perspective on the show, with out a girl going "o
mg SYLAR WAS SO HOT TONIGHT IN THIS EPISODE!" seriously.

I'd hardly take Twitter as a basis for deciding what the overall gender of a fanbase is. I'd actually figure that Heroes' fanbase is more guys than girls. The ladies are just more vocal. lol

If there are a lot of female Heroes fans, this is news to me. I would say that Heroes is fairly gender neutral, but how many women want to watch a show about superheroes? I've met 3 women that watched Heroes, and 2 watched because their b/f did. Not saying there is anything wrong with women watching Heroes, just that if there was a large female fanbase, they must be hiding from me, because I havn't met many. And honestly, nothing would thrill me more than talking to a random girl and her being like "omg, I watch Heroes too!"

I'm a girl Heroes fan and I promise I am perfectly capable of discussing the show without mentioning how hot I think certain cast members are.

Never really thought about the gender balance in the fanbase before tbh.

Ditto, but despite being capable, I'm sure I'll still bring up certain characters' hotness just for good measure. XD

I only do it when talking to other girly Heroes fans and if the conversation absolutely calls for it.

Oh Please! It's not like the guys haven't been swooning/commenting over Claire, Niki, Elle, etc throughout the series. Superficial comments can be just as fun to discuss as the deeper topics.

I actually have a funny bit of insight into that. I spent the last weekend at a German Comic Con, where I sat making sketches for visitors, and had in my portfolio a watercolour painting of Peter. To a T, all the MALE visitors who recognized him would shout, "Hey, he's from Heroes!" while all the FEMALE ones would squeal, "Ooh, it's that guy from Gilmore Girls!"

Not sure if that says as much about Heroes fans as it does about Milo Ventimiglia fans, but here goes...

Well, you can peruse this old poll to at least get an idea of the folks who like HEROES who are/were members here at 9thW. I think it was 'cuz of this poll that I made one with different choices (in the sig)...

Anyway, maybe if the poll gets newer members' results added to it, you can see more about to whom HEROES appeals more.

Honestly, I'd say it's probably an even split.

I don't know anyone female apart from myself who watches the show, although I'm the only one of us I'd consider a "fan" ^^

    Agreed.

In my small aggregation of friends of whom I know their TV tastes, three watch/used to watch Heroes. Two are female.

I'm female, and a total Heroes geek. What about Heroes first attracted me? Superpowers on television. What about it continues to attract me? The people stories, about how the characters handle different issues and the way they interact with one another. Not to say that the hotness of a couple characters doesn't add to the fun, but that is certainly not the reason that I watch.
