I see a lot of post since Ep1 that what they miss is an end goal? In season 1 Isaac painted his new york blowing up picture in episode 1 (or was it 2).
How is that realistic? When do people know what the problem is from the beginning? In most literature it is revealed right before the climax as a way to send the protagonist down such climax.
Right now, our heroes are trying to survive and figure out their lives.
Eventually, they will have to set something in stone... but it could take awhile.
