I notice allot of 'troll' threads now a` days and it seems like people here arent liking heroes as much as before. Why? I think this season is by far the best since season 1. I make time out of my schedule just to watch it, unlike last season, which was BARELY tivo worthy.

This season has made me glad I stuck around because Heroes is rly awesome now.

Glad you like it.

There are many of us who are enjoying this season.

I have friends that rag on this season, for being too slow, for having too much Claire/lesbian action, stuff like that. I don't see anything wrong with this season however, and find it just slightly behind Season 1.

People will always have stuff they dislike on the show, but it seems that since Heroes dropped in quality after Season 1, every disliked thing gets blamed on the shows percieved "lack of quality". I just think people are too desperate for Heroes to feel like Season 1 again, but it wont ever. There will never be another season 1, so now the show is about the journey, not how the journey began.

I'm liking the season, but where are these "troll" threads your referring too? I haven't seen them, just negative comments towards a scene from some, but no "troll" threads.

There are bits and pieces I'm not liking, but on the whole I am enjoying it very much.

I don't like this season. I LOVE IT. Best since Season One, and some episodes even on par. Forget the haters. Long live heroes!

Exactly! This season will be purchased as soon as it comes out. For me this is almost as good as Season 1. In fact there are a few episodes that I like even better than some in the first season...

I like this season... it's what I've dragged through S2 and S3 for, and my hopes have been met. I think many people are just going off on momentum and say it's a bad season without giving it a proper chance. Heroes started getting better in Fugitives, in my opinion, and most people I know who hate on the show did not actually see even that far.

I dont want to get into this rating obsession, but no, you are not alone. I like the depth HEROES is getting from all past episodes. Just one little thing: I miss Sandra...

I have really enjoyed this season. I sure did enjoy THE KISS. I was hoping Claire would kind of explore the lesbian side of things at least for a semester of college. I am definitely enjoying the Parkman/Sylar duality. The Peter/Emma stuff is cool as well. I like the Samuel carny stuff, except I wish I knew what happened to his brother. All in all, this is a pretty good season. All in all, I give this season a B+. I cannot give it an A yet, cause I have to wait and see how it ends..so far so good though...keep it up Heroes. I thought it was so cool how they finally killed off Sylar for good...

but wait, then I see next weeks previews and Sylar will be back..broken record...jason, freddie, michael myers, sylar..i love the character. but the killing him off and having him return again is getting on my nerves. I guess what they are building for, is to have Sylar return..kick some major butt..go on a killing spree, where he accumulates tons of powers and kills those close to the Petrelli's, before actually going after the family one by one....ending in an epic battle between Peter and Sylar to close out the entire series.

BTW, can Peter shape shift? I figured he would have been able to acquire that power from Nathan/Sylar..unless he hasn't focused on that exact power while the two have been near one another....
Zakath
I like this season, it matches season one in my opinion. No Nikki. tongue.gif

I miss Mohinder, Daphne, Elle, Caitlyn, Eric Doyle and Micah. I am glad to see the Haitian back.

I can't really decide whether I like this season as a whole. I should mention I had the flu and was in a fit of delirium while it aired, but "Once Upon a Time in Texas" is the episode that turned me back from being a casual observer whose enthusiasm for the series died with Adam Monroe in season 3, into a rabid fan who eagerly awaits each new episode.

I preface what I'm about to say with the statement that Zachary Quinto is my favorite actor on the show, and he remains my favorite minor character on Heroes' former rival 24. (I say "former" rival because, until now, the fact that the shows aired opposite each other meant I had to pick one over the other, and catch up with the loser, which was usually Heroes, online.) That said, I feel that Sylar needs to step out of the spotlight for a good long while now, and stop drawing the attention away from the rest of the cast. While it's clear that this probably won't happen, I hope it does. I don't think the series can make any further progress while he's still around. A new villain needs to take charge.
JabbaPapa
Apart from the fact that Heroes remains far too self-referential for any casual viewer to have a hope in hell understanding some of the plotlines, which is always a weakness for any series, I am finding the overall return of a writing style not seen since Volume 1 to be quite positive and refreshing.

The stories are still not being quite so naturalistically developed as they should be, but at least the occasional pretentiousness and the overbearing and ingrown comic book references of some of the content in later Volumes have been jettisoned.

So to answer the OP, yes I'm enjoying it smile.gif

TheEngineer
I love this seaon its on a level par with S1 as far as im concerned, i think that there has been a little too much sylar although the scenes have been well constructed but thats to be expected anyway. I like the way they brought back the haitian and moved claire along from the whole conspiricy - theyre out to get me mindset. Peter hasn't been getting enough screen time imo and i think they need to improve his abillity slightly but i'm enjoying the pace and the writing.

I rely like the new characters in the carnival i think they are well written, i rely like Edgar and especially enjoyed the fight scene with Peter and Samuel has been fun to watch especially when interactiing with Hiro. i think we need some more fight scenes but i can wait seen as there are still pleanty episodes to come.

Overall i love this season its rely Awesome......

I'd actually put Season 2 > Season 3 IMO... Season 2 was good, it's just the ending that went problematic because of the Strike. Some things were unresolved then (Caitlin, for exemple!). But before the strike, I guess it was good. Season 3 were too fast-paced. You watched an episode and, 2 episodes later, you felt like there were almost no connection with what you saw before... Ok, that's a little exagerated, there were still some connection, but they were too small...

Anyway, this is not a season 2 vs season 3 topic! lol Season 4 is, indeed, really good, I feel no reason for major complaint! Maybe few details about time-travels (which happens a lot with Hiro right now) that people will nitpick a lot about (there's always so, right? tongue.gif), and the lesbian storyline can be slightly controversial, but the overall season seems appreciated in general!

I know I do! smile.gif

It's hard for me to compare S2 and S3, I sort of treat them like the same thing, in a way. S2 annoyed me in many random places like the disappearance of Zach. S2 was probably better than large parts of S3, but by S3 I was more adjusted to the lower quality of the show, and it had more moments to make up for it than S2...

The whole Carnie part of it really helps... I am really curious to see where the whole Redemtion thing is going to end up but I fear they'll screw it up like they always do.

It's close to season 1 but its definitely not on par with season 1...Season 1 was able to carry every single character. Seems like this season is Claire and Sylar centric... Where the fudge is Ando (not the past one) or Angela, tracy's been in how many episodes this season? Don't even get me started on the timeline blurb...Man this show is just falling to pieces, and that's saying a lot because it's my favorite show... But d*mn even Smallville has better continuity than heroes nowadays... Oh and that big death? Not gonna even touch that subject. So no, i'm not really happy with this season and like would be a pretty strong word to use... But then again, i'm not really too upset with this season as well, that would be too strong of a word to use as well. I'm in the middle, but if the writers don't get their act together, i don't know what to tell ya.
Synch
Could you point out the continuity issue you're having? Please? Thanks.

And you think S1 carried off every single character? You must not have been on the forums then. Because they were filled with people complaining about characters being given too much screen time, or characters being given too little.

Is it wrong to hold the opinion that S1 was able to handle every single character?

Is it beneficial or necessary to dispute such an opinion?
inXi
Synch seems to have trouble accepting ANY differentiating opinion, from what I observed, and I haven't even been here that long... You can't even say "I'm not sure" in front of him/her, they'll jump on you.

And the less a person was on any given forum, the less biased their opinions are, since they at least weren't attacked by Synch, the Preserver of Truth.
ClayAikenRocks
I gotta agree with the OP. Heroes is always a flawed product, and I always have low expectations watching it. This season I have been pleasantly surprised over each episode, and more importantly, how the season has been progressing as a whole.

Yeah the time travel makes even less sense than before, but just about everything else is better. Think of just how poor and inconsistent the characterization was during Villians. That IMHO was the absoulte low point for the show. Terrible, terrible TERRIBLE writing during that Volume.

DISCLAIMER - This is my person all opinion of how I feel about different volumes of the show. There is no need for any fundamentalist apologists to swoop in and argue. It would be as silly as arguing with me that I don't like chocolate ice cream as much as I say I do.

You're biased so whats the point sir.. I'd just point out one continuity, and let someone else go from there... The timeline screw up.
Timothy
I liked all Volumes so far, and this one is no exception. Like many though, I think Genesis will never find its match.
It was... how should I put it... mystical? The way everything was connected. Ok, the lesbian stuff was a bit odd but I can live with that.
IGotSuperPowers
I am loving this season. People saying this season is too slow, is that really an absolutley horrible thing?
Mr Wednesday
I have to say this season is definitely an improvement over the last...although it hasn't been difficult to improve over the last season.

I like the character of Samuel, but I think things would have been better if they'd revealed the reason behind his "recruiting" much sooner than they did. At least the series this season is more about the heroes/villains than last season's "heroes vs. oppressive government machine" model.

I've been waiting for Heroes to become the show I originally expected it to be, more like a traditional (yet modern) superhero comic with actual superheroes fighting actual supervillains from story-arc to story-arc, season to season. With the Samuel storyline the show seems to at least be heading in a direction that could finally set this up.

Love it!

My ranking of volumes so far:

1. Genesis (9,5/10)
2. Fugitives (9/10)
3. Redemption (8/10)
4. Generations (5/10)
5. Villains (2/10)
oliveFoxx
I do like this season but I'm missing something, even though I can't put my finger on what it is. I should be totally happy with this season, the storytelling is very well thought through (finally!), the characters are handled with care, the developments don't feel as rushed as in "Villains" - actually they fixed almost all of the former flaws. But still only two episodes gave me a "Heroes feeling" this season: Hyterical Blindness and Thanksgiving.

If had to rank the volumes then "Redemption" would have to compete against "Generations" for the third place (after Genesis and Fugitives).

People also moaned over the second season being too slow - which led to a totally chaotic and rushed through third volume in which good storytelling was replaced by pointless cliffhangers and shocking moments. pinch.gif

I like this season. But to be honest, I like ANY season. Give me heroes and I'll eat it up, not matter how good or bad.
but here are some things I miss...

1) Season 1 innocent Mohinder, trusting everyone and anyone
2) Micah & Niki/Jessica
3) The Mohinder piano background music. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
4) Claire's bff Zack
5) Primatech
6) Hiro not speaking english
7) The fact that EVERY season 1 episode felt so important that it could have been a season finale- a lot of these feel like transition episodes

THESE. emphasis on 3. i know exactly what you're talking about; that eerie yet enchanting piano music which elicits mystery that kept us thirsting for more.

i really really really hope Heroes ascends from the ashes this time. i trust in the current volume name.

I like this season. I almost gave up on the show last season. I appreciate the slow pace, and I'm hoping for less Sylar and more Samuel. I like the idea of a creepy cult leader with abilities. I also need to see HRG be his bad ****** self again, and not just because he's rescuing Claire. rolleyes.gif

This volume is okay. My biggest problem with Redemption is the imbalance of character screentimes. There's too much Claire and Sylar than I like. It's obvious that Kring is pushing Spock and Beth Cooper to the front.
siberia82
I really like this season so far, and "Redemption" is currently my second favourite volume. thumbsup.gif Most of Claire's storyline irritates me healing.gif , and I wish the screentime was more evenly distributed amongst the characters (Edgar, Tracy, Mohinder and Ando are severely underused), but at least the show's direction is getting better, not worse.
rxbanditboy1112
Too be honest, I am enjoying this season more so than season one... of course i miss the idea of "discovery" or the initial reveal of sylar and his character etc.. however, season one started extremely slow also. I remember getting irritated half way through because i had no idea what was going on or why i was watching the show. Not only that, I hated nikki with a passion. I am glad shes dead. She was annoying and I am glad she wont take any screen time away from other characters any more.

This season, thus far, has not had any real part that I have been annoyed with horribly. I mean if i want to nitpick sure... However, when there are shows like Flash Forward or V on ABC getting praises with their horrible acting, I don't see why this show is now being scorned.

Season 1 had a ton of cool elements and many good characters. I do feel though that this season proved itself pretty much equal if not better. I know what is going on now, and I have a vague understanding of where it might lead, which is nice.

If we want to also talk about other shows that have gone down hill, we can talk about house... The first episode this season was AMAZING. Then it was back to the regular flow of things which is a little stale.

On a positive note. I love house. Mostly because he is an awesome character portrayed by a pretty awesome actor. Also that show does definitely open it up for casual viewers...

Maybe if season 2 didn't suck so bad heroes wouldn't be in the shape its in. It is still struggling, and its basically still because of that season.

Completely agree with "eat it up no mater what," IT'S FLIPPIN' SUPERPOWERS IN PRIME TIME.

Definitely miss the Mohinder piano music, and him in his apartment researching.

Latest ep brings that back, plus speaking in comic metaphore (reminds me of the Star trek TNG ep "Darmok")

One thing I am noticing this volume; a significant number of abilities previously shown only in gn's (Au Co's ability in Ian, terrakinesis, Evan's ability in Eli). me likes!

What stinks is Villains started out so well, until they got to both the whole catalyst and hunger concepts so wrong. If those were left out or changed to make more sense the season would have been a hundred times better.

Agreed. I rewatched Seasons 1 - 3 during the month of December and the pacing worked better for me watching them back to back. Although one of the downsides to doing this is, when I went to bed, Heroes invaded my dreams and left me messed up in the morning. Sylarkill.gif

I realized after watching the first three seasons is, Season 2 wasn't as good as I initally thought. Darn writer's strike. And I liked the Fugitives volume way better then I initially thought. The Villians volume was decent in my opinion.
