I've been mulling about this final scene and all this time I was looking from the perspective of time and butterflies and that I guessed Samuel thinks Mohinder is the lynchpin in a series of events he wants to prevent and/or he's regretful that he killed another evolved being.

But after arguing with a friend (and bashing in his skull), I came up with a much more logical theory.

Back in Volume 4, Mohinder was in Coyote Sands looking at more of his late father's research then got nabbed by Building 26. I imagine not all of the stuff got confiscated or that Mohinder still had some research left (idk he could have sneaked it on Molly when she left for India, whatever).

Then two weeks ago, Sylar taunted Matt that Mohinder is probably still working on his father's research. And we know one important thing: Samuel has been recruiting evolved beings and giving them compasses with Lydia's help although at times, that power is up to speculation at best.

Up to now, it seems like Samuel accidentally killed Mohinder with his power when he got angry or when Mohinder provoked him somehow. But we don't know what the circumstances for the meeting are, yet.

Add all this up, and I came up with a theory that Samuel is after The List, and only Mohinder knows the password or where it is. With The List, Samuel's recruitment drive gets sped up that much quicker. What do you all think?

As good a theory as any. Makes sense that Samuel would want Sureshs' list.

And with recent preview clips of Chandra Suresh's research that may have caused mohinder to approach samuel in the first place. It does make sense.
