The new timeslot for HEROES was gleaned from this nbcumv press release which sorta offhandedly mentions that tidbit:

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 19, 2009 – NBC’s action-comedy series “Chuck” returns to the NBC lineup on Sunday, January 10 with all-new missions and two action-packed, back-to-back original episodes in its season premiere (9-11 p.m. ET) before the series -- starring Zachary Levi in the title role -- moves to its regular day and time (Mondays 8-9 p.m. ET) beginning January 11.

In addition, "Chuck" returns with guest stars galore in its third season. These include: Angie Harmon (NBC’s “Law & Order”), who will play Sydney, an enemy operative; Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”), who is set to play CIA Agent Daniel Shaw; Robert Patrick (“Terminator 2: Judgment Day”) will play Colonel Keller, a soldier and spy from Casey’s past; Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville”), who will portray Hannah -- a potential love interest for Chuck; Armand Assante (“Judge Dredd”) as dictator Premier Goya, who is the target of an assassin; Steve Austin (“WWE Smackdown!”) will portray Hugo Panzer, who becomes entangled in Chuck’s first solo mission; and Vinnie Jones (“Snatch”) will play Carl Stromberg, an arms dealer.

In other programming news, a special two-hour episode of "HEROES" will be broadcast on Monday, January 4 (8-10 p.m. ET) and then the series moves to its new time slot of Mondays (9-10 p.m. ET) starting January 11.

“Josh (Schwartz) and Chris (Fedak) and the writing team are doing a great job this season, and we think the loyal fan base for this show will be happy to see it back on the NBC schedule,” said Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios.

In “Chuck,” the world's nerdiest secret agent is back in the one-hour action-comedy series. Chuck Bartowski (Levi, "Less Than Perfect") continues as the Buy More electronics store computer geek, who unwittingly becomes the government’s most vital secret agent. Chuck is transformed into the Intersect 2.0 after another data download into his brain. This time, he not only knows government secrets, but he is also well equipped with deadly fight skills. Chuck has the potential to become a real agent, but he has one problem -- his emotions. Now he faces the battle of keeping his emotions in check in order to protect himself and the people around him.

The ever stoic Colonel John Casey (Adam Baldwin, "My Bodyguard") returns with partner Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski, "Gone"), one of the CIA's top agents and Chuck's dream girl. As Chuck assumes his new role as the Intersect 2.0, Casey and Sarah need to protect him but also help him become the agent he is destined to be.

Also starring are: Joshua Gomez ("Without a Trace") as Morgan Grimes -- Chuck's best buddy; Sarah Lancaster ("What About Brian?") as Chuck's ever-supportive sister Ellie; Ryan McPartlin ("Living with Fran") as Devon Woodcomb (also known as "Captain Awesome”), Ellie's husband. Chuck's Buy More team consists of Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence, "The Pursuit of Happyness") and the Nerd Herd, which includes Lester (Vik Sahay, "Time Bomb") and Jeff (Scott Krinsky, "The O.C.").

Fans of "Chuck" can catch up on full episodes from the series' recent second season, watch original web series and share with fans on the official "Chuck" website on NBC.com.

“Chuck” is co-created and written by Josh Schwartz (“The O.C., “Gossip Girl”) and Chris Fedak, and is executive-produced by Schwartz, McG ("Charlie's Angels," "We Are Marshall"), Fedak, Allison Adler and Matthew Miller. “Chuck” is produced by College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

A Two hour episode of Heroes? Me likey.

Breaking the Heroes and Chuck combo up and moving Heroes to 8:00 was a stupid idea in the first place.
Synch
Thank you God for moving Heroes back where it belongs.
Requiem191
Honestly, I have no idea why they ever moved Heroes in the first place. Worst idea ever.

I tried to find info on the NBC site but failed sad.gif Does anyone know what the schedule is for Heroes? I thought they had 18/19 episodes, and that it would run straight to the Olympics, afer which Chuck would start up and take over the time slot.

Has this changed? Was that incorrect? Do we get more than 19 episodes of Heroes? Does the two-hour episode count as two episodes like the premiere? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-roll tootsie pop?
Zakath
Take that, you harbingers of doom. smile.gif Glad to see us back where we belong.
Imthehero
Stupid freaking NBC! The ONE SINGLE SEMESTER where 8:00 is during a class they put Heroes there, and as soon as that class ends, they move it right back. Friggen A. At least Heroes is going back to normal.

I know, right? I'm in class every Monday from 6 PM - 8:30 PM and usually don't get home until close to 9 (depends on if I have to stop for gas or whatever on the way back). But at least I have a DVR.

So, now I'm curious about what nbc's plan is for Mondays at 9 pm after the Olympics... The plan before was to have HEROES and Trauma as the 8-10 pm block of primetime shows in the fall, up to the Olympics, and then have Chuck and Day One take over after the Olympics*.

Then, Day One gets down-graded to a miniseries (and Jesse put a nice spin on that*) and Trauma got cancelled, although it was said that the show gets to finish its 13-ep run. Now, Trauma gets a few more eps, and HEROES will be in the 9 pm timeslot from 4 Jan '10 for the rest of its 4th season (since it's also airin' then the week before, too, with 2 hours of HEROES goodness on the 4th).

So, 'cuz Day One gets shortchanged, nbc decides to fill up some of the 9 pm timeslot with more (of a previously-cancelled) Trauma and also some HEROES? Seems like Trauma's 14th ep would air on the last Monday of December since it premiered on the 28th of September, iirc, so when would its last 2 episodes air?!? 'Cuz HEROES gets the slot the next Monday...

Does that mean they'll have HEROES finish its run at 9 pm, and then share 2 more eps of Trauma, have the Olympics (but maybe only startin' at 9 pm, since the source quoted here says that Chuck'll air during the Olympics), and next be filled with part of the Day One miniseries (aren't miniseries generally aired on 2 consecutive days? unsure.gif)?

That seems to indicate that the Monday at 9 pm slot is up for grabs after Day One is done. Are the folks at nbc plannin' on also asking for more episodes of HEROES, too, to fill in the 9 pm timeslot after the 4-hour Day One miniseries, too? Or will nbc fill it with SNL in primetime (which has been done in the past, though I hope not)?

I mean, if they do add more HEROES, that'd be cool, if the HEROES scribblers have more stories to tell (and I bet they do...), but otherwise, it seems like the 9 pm spot'll be lookin' for some show to take up the slack.

Just seems like nbc needs to add more HEROES or Day One after the miniseries...

Actually, I have rather liked the 8 time slot. Because I can watch Heroes, discuss on here, and still have it be a reasonable enough hour to get some work done afterwards.

THIS!!

Thank GOD! It NEEDS to return to 9pm and STAY forever! Course I don't know how its going to do against 24, but we can always hope.

And YAY! Chuck is back. <insert happy dance video>

Loving the new time slot, no House, DWTS will be over by then, and no MNF, I sense a ratings increase

great news on heroes n chuck

NBC ordered six additional episodes of Chuck, as well, so we'll get 19 episodes this season. The season will be interrupted by the Winter Olympics, but apart from that, we shouldn't see a hiatus.

Between Chuck's premiere date and LOST's (February 2) being announced yesterday, I am psyched for the Spring 2010 season. =)

This is great news! I don't know why they did the 8 PM timeslot either. As a Canadian, I have no say in the ratings and I get to be more flexible with the show, but I sometimes wish I did have a say in the Nielsen ratings, but in my case it would be BBC Canada. Anyways, I see a ratings increase most definately because the season has been great and people have seen it, but they've had to choose between House and Heroes and it's obvious what happened and so the show was resulted to the DVR's because of this choice. The last two episodes were some of the best episodes we've seen since season 1 and because the World Series had ended, everyone resulted back to DVR the show and watch House. Now, people are free to watch live again and finish up the season before the Olympics start in February without needing to worry about House, DWTS, or MNF.

Yep, and that's not just for the premiere. Tuesday at 9 PM is going to be the show's new timeslot, from February until May.

Originally, Heroes wasn't even slated to be in the spring programming at all right? This is amazing news.
