Full Version: Long recaps at start of Episodes?

Mr. Lithuania
Gotta say that I was surprised and delighted by the action in tonight's episode. I've been reading comics and watching hero-type fiction in the movies and on TV for long enough to be very hard to surprise, and I have to say that the writers have managed to "get" me three times so far in the first two episodes.

One thing we noticed here was that the new action really didn't start tonght until about 15-20 minutes after the hour. There were some embellishments to the stories begun in the pilot, but the plot advancement took long enough that a couple of us were tapping their feet in anticipation.

My question is, "Is this a one-time thing to catch up folks who missed the pilot, or is this going to be the general style of the show?"

Well just have to wait and see next week. I would have to agree I liked it during this one episode, but if this is going to happion in every episode it would cut down on the story in each episode.

It did feel like a while for it to really get started tonight, but I believe that was because of the show's two hour pilot being split.

I expect recaps to go much faster starting next week.

i have to say i hated the recaps it just took away from precious time that could have been spent explaining something we didnt know. and then the fact that every character had there own recap was frustrating. This is my own thoughts. I dont think it will be done again but thats kinda why i dont like watching a series until its over and then i can watch it all(Like 24).

Other than that i liked tonights episode. it had a nice twist with Hiro.

One last thing I thought Claire getting knocked by the Football player was too extreme. Are we going to see that everytime they have a chance they will find another way to show her Regenerations.

Anyway i dont want to get to detailed and spoil it for those who havent seen it.

I would say that, right now, they are really focused on bringing in new viewers. Confused people are more likely to turn away. Once the show is more established, the recap tends to get shorter...

I love the Claire regeneration bits, but then again i'm a tromafan lol

But anyhow, i've always hated long recaps at the beginnings of shows. Although I see why they did it if you missed the all-important first episode, they dont want to leave out any potential new viewers. But from now on I think they will leave it to a quick "this is what happened" instead of "btw, heres what everbodies powers were again!"

Regardless of the recap length, I hope they get rid of the voiceover. It's ok for just the second episode, but it really bugged me.

The recap is very... comic book-ish. Hehe.
