It's neat when you recognize someone you know from SF cons (and a fellow LASFSian) in a show! Now wait..how exactly did you go from L.A. to N.Y. so quickly? Hmmm... Maybe that's what happens when you wave a sonic screwdriver at a cardboard TARDIS.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing when watching the episode. Kinda took me out of the moment, I was like "HEY I know him!" I know him from the Time Meddlers... are you a Meddler too?

I do like Dr. Who, however, I'm not a member of Time Meddlers. We live in the OC, and can't take that many trips to Burbank. If you were at San Diego Westercon this past summer, you might have seen the TARDIS that was in the masquerade and elsewhere during the con. That was my daughters' product (and made packing the car VERY puzzle-like *grin*).
I do like Heroes, so far. It's quite fun, and seems well thought through and well crafted. I've had A LOT to explain to my 10 year old, though. Tonight I found myself explaining nuclear bombs to her. *sigh* It was certainly fun to watch the kid's reactions to seeing someone they knew show up on camera. The company we own has created various animation and special effects systems, over the years, so the kids have certainly met many creative-types. But they rarely see any of them actually on camera.
